I am been using Titleist Pro V1x's as long as they have been out. Before that, it was whatever Titleist's top ball was at the time. I recently got a dozen Bridgestone B330-S golf balls and have heard many good things about them. I was wanting to hear everyone's opinion about these balls. Distance, spin, durability, etc... I have also hit the Taylor Made TP Red and they seem just as good. Thanks

I just put up my Circa 62 #3 for the Red X5 and I am extremely pleased. Same great feel and the look (plumber's neck) is what i am used to. Great putter IMO.

I had seven one round. It was a combination of greats shots and a little luck. I shot 30-43. That back nine was the most heart breaking 9 holes of my life.

"I've lost my ball" after you make a long birdie putt
-
This was a drill that was given to me when I started. Go to a practice bunker and draw a box around the ball, leaving about 1 1/2 inches of space on all sides. Now, swing and knock out the box. Three things to remember on all sand shots.... 1. Follow through 2. Never Decelerate 3. Knock out the box.

I will be there on Tuesday and Wednesday. First time there, can't wait.

Most hybrids do have a draw bias, but the Adams Pro series and the Taylor Made TP series hybrids do not. I would think the Titleist hybrid wouldnt either, but Im not for sure.
-
Really? Sounds like a 4 or 5 iron to me. It could be a strong 3 wood for others. I have a 3 Hybrid and I hit it 215-225. I would normally hit a 3 iron 210-215. I would see if you could demo a hybrid and see which loft fits your gap

Two scenerios: 1. You hit a 3 wood or less to 100 yards and make birdie or at worst par because you hit it to a distance you are comfortable with. 2. You bust a big drive to 50 yards out and because you can't seem to hit a 50 yard shot, you make bogey. Par if you get up and down. I think it is obvious. You dont have to prove you can hit it 300 yards on every hole if it doesnt call for it. YOU know you can hit it that far. Save it for when it is needed. I say you focus on swing speed, but make sure to still accelerate through the ball.

Black Gold(S) vs Project X(6.0) vs DG S300
jmurdock replied to Gapwedge's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I haven't hit the black gold shafts in any clubs, but the Project X shafts have given me a more reliable trajectory and better feel than the DG S300 I had previously in my MP-32's. IMO, the Project X shafts are better. -
First of all, I am a Memphis fan but I have to disagree with you here. How about last year when Mr. Joey Dorsey called out Greg Oden saying, "He's no Joey Dorsey". Then he goes 1-3 from the field and gets 2 rebounds while Oden scores 16 or so. (Not sure on the actual number Oden had). He got cocky and couldn't produce.

I agree. Also, on those swings, trying swinging at 75%, 50%, etc. Always accelerate through, but just dont swing at 100% all the time. Inside 100 yards is a feel game. Some people might have a wedge that they hit 60 yards swinging as hard as they can. I, however, hit my 54* or 58* anywhere inside 95 yards. Depending on what kind of shot I need, I will pull one of those two clubs and swing to whatever length and % of power I need. (58* = 100yds, 54* = 115 yds)

Play for Par. More likely than not, that will win you a match. Make the opponent have to make birdie to beat you. IMO, they tend to get more aggresive with their shot-making and therefore tend to make more mistakes. Also, a guy who can make par after par can get their opponent frustrated. If my oppoenent is in trouble, then I tend to play for the middle of the green or take the higher % shot. (layup, etc.) Make them beat you. Dont get ahead of yourself in thinking that once they miss this putt, I will be up 2. Always expect them to make that 10 footer for par, becuase somehow they always do.

I put an orange dot under and to the right of the number. I also mark the line down the seam of the ball that says ProV1x

Anyone ever play in Memphis, TN?
jmurdock replied to Golf Yokel's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
Well, there are no courses "close" to downtown really. Can you play private courses?? That's the big question. Private: Colonial CC South course. (Ranked #5 course in TN) TPC Southwind Memphis CC (probably the closest to downtown) Public: Tunica National, Cottonwoods (both by the Casinos) Galloway, Plantation- in Olive Branch -

I play at Colonial Country Club. They have 2 great courses. I have also played Memphis CC, TPC Southwind, Windyke CC, Galloway, and Plantation golf course in Olive Branch. -
I think getting the ball to hop once or twice and stop is ideal. You can become more consistent that way. When you hit a "super spin" ball, you never know how much it will spin on a given shot. You might hit a shot into the green pin high and then the ball spins back 20 feet or play it to spin back and the ball just sits. IMO, if you can get a ball to sit after one hop, then you can consistently fire at pins because you know how the ball will react on the green.

I wear the Zero Restriction rain gloves whenever it is raining outside and grip might be a problem. I used to wear the Foot Joy rain gloves in college because those were the only ones available at the time. The Zero Restriction Leather rain gloves are, imo, far superior to the foot joys. Not one time during my rounds did I worry about the club slipping when I was going at a drive.

Total choke job.. 31-41=72 I was on fire on the front and was 1 inch away from a hole in one. The back side was obviously a different story.

I agree that course mgmt. is a huge part of the game. I used to get hot-headed after a bad shot and it always seemed to steamroll into more bad shots. I believe it was Bobby Jones, or Ben Hogan, that said..."Golf is played on a 5 inch course. The space between your ears" I also had a great par save once. It was in a college tournament and I was playing a 215 yrd par 3. I hooked it pretty bad (the right to left wind didnt help) and I found the hazard. I took my drop from 110 yds and hit a SW behind the hole. It spun back and into the cup. Still the best par Ive ever made.

We play 3 days. 36 holes Friday and Saturday, and 18 hole singles matches on Sunday

I usually go about 6-10 times per month. On a typical visit I will probably hit close to 2 buckets, if not more. I work a lot on my wedges and driver. (60%) Then I hit whatever I think I need work on. The other day I spent about half a bucket on 3 woods off the deck. I generally warm up by hitting SW and then going to every other club for about 10 balls.

My best was 70 (-2) and my worst was 81

Its also been proven again and again that those setups DO NOT sell. No one plays those set-ups. Just because its a breakthrough in thinking, doesn't make it intelligent.
