  1. Yesterday.
  2. Not true. It's all personal preference and more about what fits your game and the conditions you play. Anyway, you would never notice a 1 degree difference. My advice is to skip the 60 entirely.
  3. My advice, drink lots of beer and enjoy the social event. Considering a scramble to be some sort of competitive event is a joke.
  4. Well, the secret handshake, for one.
  5. While a scramble is contested on a golf course using golf balls and golf clubs, it's not really golf is it? I accept them for what they are - a social event to raise money for charity and an excuse to drink lots of beer. There is no reason at all to adopt a competitive attitude, no matter how low you go, someone always comes in lower. Cheating in a scramble is pretty much accepted, encouraged even. Yes and please don't confuse the terms BEST BALL and BETTER BALL (real golf formats) with a scramble.

    next big break?

    Hopefully never. WORST SHOW EVER
  7. Ball rolls a long way on tundra.
  8. What he is saying is MOST recreational golfers do not have very precise distance control and therefore spending a lot of time to consider a precise distance to the target is somewhat pointless.
  9. You ALWAYS PLAY OUT the hole and record your ACTUAL score. ESC is only applied when time to POST the score to the handicap system.
  10. You may want to consider that your handicap index is only part of the equation. Your index is used to calculate a course handicap that may be higher or lower than the index.
  11. I guess we'll never know...
  12. This is a gadget designed to separate you from your money.
  13. 36-hole stroke play Sept 19 & 20. Club champion trophies awarded to low gross and low net scores. Other gross and net prizes awarded by flight. The Match Play cup is in progress, 64 player bracket contested over a 14 week period.
  14. Not enough info. Did the committee add the scores wrong? Did the player mark a wrong score? Did the player sign the card with the wrong score? It is all based on what's on the signed scorecards. Players are not responsible to add their scores, only to make sure each hole score is correct. The info given on the 18th tee would not be official in any way, especially if it conflicted with the actual score. If the hole by hole scores were correctly marked and attested and the committee added the scores wrong, then the playoff you won was just an unfortunate bit of a cruel joke. If the hole by hole scores were not correct, and the player signed for the wrong score, then he either must live with the higher score or be disqualified in the case of marking of a lower score. The committee may NOT alter a hole score after the card has been signed and submitted. Your description did not describe how the actual score discrepancy occurred?
  15. I thought I read that ASU was dropping their PGM program?
  16. He is 100% legit. And his products aren't crap. They are the REAL DEAL.
  17. Actually it IS illegal to make counterfeit clubs in China. If it says "Mizuno" on the club and it is not made by Mizuno, that is a counterfeit not a knock-off. These people are criminals and by buying from them you support them. They are the same kind of people that used melamine in the baby formula and dog food and the same type that use cheap lead based paint in children's toys. They stay in business because there are enough SUCKERS that get conned in to believing they are getting a great deal.
  18. Wow, that makes my brain hurt. I'm more in the Moe Norman school... "just hit that dumb guy with this dumb guy..."
  19. Let me try to clarify the policy for you. NO CELL PHONES OR CAMERAS. Hope this helps...
  20. If I'm an 8 and you're an 8, you think you should get strokes because your bad rounds are worse than my bad rounds? Good luck! I understand your idea is to know more about the person's game. Thing is, this new data still totally depends upon EVERY golfer following the procedure which is to post EVERY round good and bad. No different as is supposed to happen with the current system but doesn't. That is why you see a wide variety of skill shown by your example 8 index. You have sandbaggers who don't post their low scores, you have vanity cappers who post only low scores, the people who's scores are artificially low from mulligans, given putts, etc, and then you have the general lazy slobs who don't post any scores. This is why the current system fails in the way you describe to give a consistent and accurate picture of skill. It's not the system, it is the people using the system improperly. A new system is meaningless if the people still don't use it correctly.
  21. If you have access to Costco, they sell a decent Callaway stand bag for $90. Otherwise, keep checking the golf stores for closeouts. I'm lucky to be close to a PGA Tour Superstore, and it seems every month they will have some bags on closeout for $60-80. The bags with the individual slots for each club obviously are bigger and heavier. If you walk and carry, I would recommend against. And this, as a public service announcement - DON'T WORRY ABOUT BAG CHATTER. These are golf clubs, not museum pieces. They are made to dig in the dirt. They get scuffed. They get scratched. They get dings from banging together. This is what happens to golf clubs. It is their DUTY. Don't interfere.
  22. Some data to support your proposition?
  23. This question is for sonicblue, just trying to figure out what to do with your three handicap system...
