Ex Cigarette smoker here. Quit 20 years ago and don't miss it. However I was looking at this from a Cigar perspective. Doesn't golf and cigars go together? I play with a lot of golfers who only smoke cigars on the course, and maybe one on the patio of the 19th hole. I mean after a rough day of golf what is better than a bourbon and a cigar? I should also add the the second most smoking on NY courses is pot, but it is legal her. probably not during competition!

I don't think the viewer at home can pick up on pace of play, unless the announcers mention something. The telecast has the luxury of bouncing from player to player, which ensures we the viewer always have something to watch. I think we would notice pace of play if the camera just followed one golfer for an entire round. Or You were actually golfing behind the slow group Or The slow group is the last to only group left to finish the tournament. I like the idea of having a person carrying a digital clock, following each golfer. When the golfer gets to the ball and the group in front of them has cleared they have 60 seconds or they get a penalty stroke. Maybe a second violation is a 2 stroke penalty. Or as I have said before, every golfer wears a shock collar!!!!! at 1 min 1 second that golfer if going to drop. It will take them a good 30 second to recover, leaving them with another 30 seconds to hit the shot. The course would be littered with golfers just convulsing on fair way from an endless cycle of shocks because they cant seem to hit their ball and keep pace of play.

43 (7 over) Driver was iffy all 9, so had to scramble. Triple bogie on a par 4 killed me!

My Home course is par 72, 6200 yards, 68/109 (which is being recalculated this year due to upgrades). I think a pro would shoot under par. Heck, every so often the best golfer in our league shoots a-1. However golfers in our league have played the course a couple dozens of times a year. If the pro were to only play the course once, the 2 things that would affect their game would be: 1- the greens. They are some of the most difficult in the area. They have multiple breaks, they are fast up hill and slow down hill. They always break towards the river, no matter what you see! 2-I think a pro might be a little out of their element on this public course. Hole #1 runs along side a road, and the cars may honk in your back swing. People have been known to scream at you. Since the course is a also a public park, neighbors can be found walking (or walking their dog) along the cart path or even across the fairway!

In the video I saw, the golfer used the driver to prove his point. He hit is low left and 50 yards short of his normal distance. Some times rules are good, sometimes they are silly!

I think these guys want to make money, I mean who doesn't. However I think once they realize they are no longer relevant their ego takes a hit. Once they realize they have tarnished their legacy and no longer have the potential to be "one of the greats", there is a little regret.

I think TopGolf is a good place to "golf" for people who do not play golf. As a parent of 2 kids who play travel sports. TopGolf is a good way for these kids to occupy themselves when they are not competing in their individual sports. In July in Vegas and at the topgolf around noon. half the bays were occupied. I think one of the issues is too much space. They had 4 tiers worth of bays. That just seems like alot. And I agree, the food is good, the balls suck!

This was league play. If the course does not close we are left with the option of playing or having to play a double match in 2 weeks (this is 1 round of 9, but against 2 opponents). Due to weather myself and many others are playing double matches for the last few weeks of the league. Due to 1 course closing, the league has been pushed in to sept, which is not ideal, because that is when HS golf takes over the course. So we are left to play in so-so weather while continuing to repeat "Don't think the heavy stuff's gonna come down for quite a while"

Played yesterday. First 4 holes were a combo of steady rain, sprinkle and a downpour. Obviously we waited in the cart during the down pour. We had thunder past us and heading toward us. We had lighting to the east and west of us. By the 5th hole the sun came out and temp rose to a humid 85. So I was soaked from the rain and swampy from the humidity. This lasted for hole 5-6-7. By hole 8 & 9, the dark clouds started to move in again as did the thunder. But we finished before the heavy stuff came down again. Not ideal, but we are running out of weeks for league play.

well the universe corrected itself. Sat I shot the round of my life. Today I played 9 and for the first 5 holes you would have thought it was my first time playing the game. SHANK CITY!!!!! 100 yards down into the green (2nd shot), SHANK right into the trees. 130 into a green (2nd shot), SHANK into a bunker 120 into a green (3rd shot on a par 5) Shank right into a pond! By the 6th hole I figured it out and went Par, Par, Par & Par to end up with a 47. I could have also been due to the thunder, lighting and rain.

Not proud of it, but I had crack a goose upside its head with my club. I was on the green just trying to finish my 3 putt for triple bogie and that goose came right at me no good in its eyes!

82, 10 over. My best round probably ever! Not having played or picked up my clubs in 3 weeks, I was hoping to shoot in the low 90s. Nope, played alot of Par golf, 2 doubles, 1 Birdie and a few bogies!
