  1. I think J is a 22deg hybrid.
  2. Uh, I don't think that is the chinese character for snake.
  3. Wii is great. Finally a game system where gamers and non gamers can play together. I used to have a PS2, and my wife hates it when I play it, cause she doesn't play, and she can't watch TV. Now, we play Wii together. For Tiger Woods 2008, the realism is not the mechanics. Sure you can fade and draw, swing hard or take it easy. But I set the difficulty to easy. I have 3 Aces, longest drive 368yrds, longest putt 92yrds, lowest round 59. How real is that? But the realism is the objective of golf. You feel good when hit GIR, you feel frustrated if you lose a hole to your opponent, etc. The up's and down's of golf, a challenge, that's what I like
  4. Golf swing/putting stroke is not "one size fits all." So I don't endorse or preach one way or the other. Mickelson swings lefty, Justin Leonard swings sideways, Furyk swings goofy. Obviously, their style work for them, but doesn't work for everyone. Same thing for putting. Arguing that one putting style is the superior makes no sense. Is like as if Mickelson preaching swinging lefty is the way to go, is superior, is natural...writing books, running schools for lefty swings. My personal putting stroke, like many mentioned already, varies depending on length. If I am letting the putter do the work, I SBST. When I exsert more force in the stroke, I have an arc.
  5. Woody Austin getting baptised
  6. I think a general promotion for fast play is enough. I don't think any course should enforce mundane rules like that. What's next, ban shoes with laces? Cause someone might take an extra 30 seconds to tie his shoes. I've seen courses give players a reference sheet of pace of play. A sheet with your starting time, and your expected pace of play broken down by the holes. So you know if you don't reach this hole in x amount of minutes, you need to pick up the pace.
  7. I think WRX is catered towards equipment enthusiasts aka club-ho's. There are forums for every kind of equipment, tour, otr, putter, japanese, accessories. Is great if you are searching for something specific. Don't know about you guys, but I find WRX to be a very slow loading website.
  8. I've used one before. Played a few holes, putting was a bit odd, I then switch the course back to a driving range. In my opinion, it is great. You just have to see it as a real golf alternative, not a golf substitute. Nothing beats playing outdoors, the sun, the wind, the smell of grass, etc. But in the middle of winter, you have a chance to play in a climate controlled enviroment, play some of the most exotic courses around the world, is pretty neat. Again, the putting is a bit odd, cause you are not putting into a cup. I find the driving range very beneficial, most simulators breaksdown the crucial information prior and at impact. Such as swing path, and swing speed. It can tell you even if you are one degree open. It takes the guessing out of the equation in trying to figure out what you are doing wrong. I like the ones where you hit off of the mats. Some simulators will have different mat surfaces, so at least you can get a mat that is closest to real life. Those simulators have ball and club sensors throughout the entire room and floor, so you can move around, as long as you are inside the room. There are a couple simulators that requires you to hit off of a tee everytime. Those are not so cool, as the tee is set on a hard plastic sensor pad which is about 1 by 2 ft. So if you take a divot, you will hit your club on that hard plastic sensor. But that style of simulators can even tell you if you are hitting off the sweet spots Most simulators claim to be 1 to 2 yards accurate. From my experience, I believe that claim. I've tried on purpose to open/close the club face, inside out, outside in. I think the ball flight is definitely dead on. The only other factors which I don't think a couputer can calculate with pin point accuracy is the carry. On a real course, you can have a weird bounce, favorable roll, etc. On a simulator, I think the couputer is giving you ideal carry. I think you will enjoy the simulators.
  9. I have the Burner 3 wood, love it. I get about 210yrds - 215yrds with it. And I have been testing Superquad and the Burner Drivers. Both are in the low 240's for me. The superquad has a slightly deeper face, which I like, as swing arc is my biggest issue with a driver. I definitely think is a tad more forgiving with the superquad. The Burner driver does what it advertised, at least in the feel. The shaft is longer, lighter, I seem to swing faster, the face seems hotter. May be is all in the mind. But I don't think I get anymore distance than the superquad, if it is indeed longer, it is not drastic or consistent, at least with my swing. For me, is a toss up.
  10. You can't bring the 1 1/2 year old to the corse? If people are using push/pull carts, I see no reason why you can't push a stroller (unless your course has specific rules against it). You probably need a jogging stroller with huge wheels, which your wife will push. And you'll carry one stand bag and push the other bag on a cart. Your 5 yr old can carry the diper bag. If not, how about a Baby Bjorn? Ha, I'd like to see that golf swing.
  11. All those in your poll are game improvement irons. You are not looking at super game improvement irons? PING's rapture, TM has R7cgb, Mizuno's is MX950. These irons are chunkier, feel less precise, but are more forgiving. There are a couple great deals going on now, with Cobra S9 and Mizuno MX900. Both last year's model, but are great irons. They are now hundreds less than what it was last year.
  12. The driver should be learned last and separate because it has a very different swing setup than the rest of the bag. A 3 wood's setup is much similar to a 3/4 hybrid/long iron than a driver. ie, swing plane, stance width, hand position, swing arc. For a beginner, is like a whole new swing, rather than minor adjustments to an existing swing. I don't think handicap index should be indication for driver striking capabilities.
  13. Are you hitting the hosel(dart out to the right)? Or just having a wide open club face (super wide slice)? If you have an open club face, there are plenty of tutorial and drills that teaches you to return your hands to square at impact. Mainly, try to relax, swing don't hit. That might be the most important factor, at least for me. Cause if you are hitting, your muscle tense up and your hands don't turn over to square at impact. Someone correct me if I am wrong. But hitting on the hosel is a swing path issue.
  14. Is just a game. First priortiy should be having fun. Try not to obsess so much and let the game consumes you. Don't quit, keep working, if it happens, it happens, if not, is no big deal. I rather be a poor ball striker who have fun, than a obsessed angry low handicapper.
  15. Here is my review of the Ogio Vision SS with the shling strap system. Woode dividers, definitely one of the best, if not the best. Soft velvet. Woods on the left, stacked. putter well on top, then 3 dividers for irons. The irons dividers have ridges on it to help keep the irons in place. When I am walking, the clubs do stay in place and rotate, rather than shuffling side to side like in other bags. I like the 3 dividers, I organize them according to long irons, mid irons and short irons/wedge. Shling system - It works for me. I guess this is one feature that could make or break the deal. I think the strap hinges are particularly well placed, very balanced. I like there are only 2 hinge point from the straps to the bag(like a messenger bag), versus most normal bags have 4 hinge points, like a back pack. This Ogio allows you to carry the bag on your right side, rather than behind you. It gives you more room to walk through a narrow passage, like in the parking lot, the driving range, through a doorway. On the course, you don't see the benefit. But you will really appreciate it the first time you swing it away to walk through a door. http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4ITQQwdQ2A The legs - are good, but I've seen better. Such as TM R7stand bag, Ogio's Edge or SunMt MPB Function - Attention to detail is great. There is one pocket for wet stuff, one for valuable stuff, ball dispenser, tee holder, drink holder, pen holder, zipperless ball pocket is pretty cool, quick and easy. The valuable pocket lining is not that soft, but is ok. A cell phone holder, uh inside the wet garment pocket, doesn't make much sense. But whatever, I keep my cell phone in the valuable pocket, which is also waterproof, with zipper similar to the ones you see on a Spyder ski jacket. The cart strap looks heavy duty, but I haven't use it yet. Overall, I like it very much for what I use it for. I think the size, balance and weight is perfect for a high end stand bag. Best of all, I found it for sale at a TJ Maxx for $90. And just to remember that when introduced, it was priced at $230, which I am sure everyone would agree that it is overpriced. Some sites are selling for $169 now.
  16. Saw this drill before: Setup normally. As you are turning your torso right for your back swing, lift your left foot. As you turn left, lift your right foot. After a few, decrease the lift.
  17. I have been experimenting with not staring at the ball. Not focusing on hitting the ball, but rather to focus on the tension of my swing. Lighten grip pressure, so the hands and club turn over naturally - squared. All this seems to be working out great for me. I find that as long as I setup correctly, I tend to have great results. Is that what they mean by "passive swing?" or is that something else. I started swinging this way after watching this. This guys explaination makes sense to me http://www.videojug.com/film/swing-instead-of-hit
  18. If it is TP, it will have this logo all over it. The TP has a open face angle. Non TP's version is 1 deg closed.
  19. TM Burner 3W, 3H & 4H TM R7 regular 5 - SW All graphite regular shafts TM Rossa Monte Carlo 7 35" Currently using 1 single Bridgestone E5 that I found. When I lose it, I will open up a box of Nike Juice312 that I got as a gift. No backup clubs now, but likely to get a blade style putter for xmas, and a Burner driver into play next season.
  20. Driver - TM CGB max or Cobra LV4 Fairway - Callaway Squarway Hybrid - Nickent 4DX Game Improvement Irons - PING G10 or TM Burner XD Super Game Improvement Irons - TM CGB Max 08 or Callaway FTibrids Wedge - Cleveland CG14 Mallet - Odyssey Black series 3. Blade - Odyssey Black series 1. Premium - Titleist Pro V1x Non Premium - Srixon AD333
  21. Anyone tee up your irons shots, with a short tee (2 inch)? I would think that gives more room to hit down on the ball, but I bet that produces much lower ball flight? I saw one of the pro at the range only teaches with tees.
  22. And if they all feel the same, pick the cheapest one.
  23. At least 18 tees.... a dozen golf balls, 2 towels, one of me, one for the clubs, bottle water, pen, ball markers. I put my headcovers in the pockets, so I make sure I don't over stuff in the first place. Once I start, I don't carry my keys, wallet on me, I put in into one of the pockets.

    Vertigo?

Sorry to bring up old thread. But I have experiences with vertigo I can share. I have had vertigo since I was 18. I am 30 this year. There are very tiny calcium crystals inside your inner ear. And when you get an ear infection or head/ear injury, these crystals can dislodge and interupt the inner ear. Some infection is chronic and can be treated with medication. If not an infection, calcium buildup can only be treated with a few excercises. Do a search on Epley maneuver. It has been proven effective up to 80%. When it is really bad, Dramamine is ok, but the side effects is drowseyness. They do sell a newer, less drowsy version of the drug. You have to balance your meds. I have adapted a slower tempo, so my head doesn't rotate or whip around at a quick speed. I also do a very un-passive swing where my head stays very still, until the very last moment.
  25. A store is going to open up in my area in the next couple of months, and they have been setting up introductory lessons at the Golfsmith store nearby. I took the free intro lesson, and it worked out very well for me. Everything they told me had a reason behind it, which gave me confidence and them credibility. They showed me, with numbers and videos, what my biggest flaws were. My swing was compared to professional golfers on their database. A single pro or multiple pros that are closest match to your body type. This instant feedback is great. They can be as technical as you want it to be. There has got to be at least 2 dozen things they measured. Everything was color coded. Biggest flaws were red, minors were yellow, acceptable were green. You can prioritize which fundamentals you want to work on first. My teacher gave me 2 flaws to work on. One was my tendency to reverse pivot, which he showed me exactly how many degrees I was tilted. The other was that my takeaway was too inside. Took my 2 weeks to practice the new swing. I feel my swing is much better now. I want to get measure again soon.
