  1. Try doing a club in all black (i.e. Murdered Out).... got a feeling it might look really good....
  2. Back in the day I paint filled some iron numbers on the sole. Testors wore out fast, the auto touch up paint held on much better. This is my only experience with the two.
  3. Testors is a soft paint and will wear off easily. I have found that the automotive touch up paint is a much better choice. It is more expensive but it is more durable. You can find it at most auto-parts stores. Around $6-7 a bottle.
  4. I think people are just having a fun time making fun of all the marketing hype found in the golf industry. True, the vokeys are carbon steel, which is soft compared to other steels such as stainless. BUT... the wedges are cast of this material, not forged from it. Heat treatment has effects on the hardness of the metals. I would assume the "Heat Treatment" is in concerns to the cooling rate of the casts, and the difference that the rate at which a metal cools affects its hardness. That is my guess at least....
  5. So True. How about this one, "My Carbon-Fiber Forged X-Flex Triple Low Launch putter shaft is the shiznit"
  6. After my post I realized that it woud be an issue if the putter head was different (i.e. training device is a mallet, gamer is a blade) etc. I can see that being a issue. I want to buy this but then I don't. I like the idea mostly....
  7. I don't know how to explain it but choking down on a putter isn't the same as having a shorter putter (at least for me). I know it sounds crazy, but to me a 35" putter that I choke down on and a 34" putter isn't the same. I have 2 identical putters; one has been cut to 34" and the other one is my backup and it is still at 35". I would have to cut down by backup before I use it... Plus if a putter is too long the butt end sometimes catches on my shirt/jacket and it screws up my stroke.
  8. First I have no experience with this device, so I trust you and your opinion more so than my perceptions. With that said though, how can path, impact position and tempo only pertain to one putter and not the other? I mean, my path/tempo/impact position are not specific to only one putter but almost certainly are swing characteristics that would apply to all putters (allowing for small exceptions to the rule). So I guess my question is what other variables are there that make this putter ineffective as a training aid? Is it just junk or what?
  9. Dude! Give them some time man... how long have you had them? Only a short time right? I say give them at least 5 more rounds and then make a decision.... it always takes me a few months to begin to "understand" my new irons.
  10. I have actually heard the opposite.... that the 907D2 wasn't a highly recieved driver. I have heard the "best driver" comment made about the 909 though. I played a 10.5 905R and then went to a 9.5 907D2. I really dig the 907D2 and haven't had a reason to seriously consider buying a new driver.
  11. I am really curious if this is worth the $75. Anyone have REAL experience with this device? On paper it looks like a great buy but if the display/device is gimmicky then it isn't.
  12. Why don't you get a 52* High Bounce wedge and then bend it to 54*. That should give you the extra bounce you are looking for.
  13. It depends on course condition really, but in AZ you can play most courses in normal shoes and be fine.
  14. You mean I series PING
  15. Tom calls your bluff and you're a no-show. Golfro's mouth is to big for his bite.
  16. ... but are they better than the 735.cm?
  17. Post pics of the putter and you'll get better feedback.
  18. I guess another way to look at it is this: When was the last time you checked the manufacture date when you purchased new grips? Do grips have a "Born on Date?" ;) I have grips purchased 1.5+ years ago that are fine. Kept them inside in a plastic bag. Can't tell the difference between them and new in the store grips so I would say they will last for a good chunk of time.
  19. You can always check out the Titleist 735.cm's. They are really a remarkable club in many regards but the best thing is they give you forgiving long and mid irons while going straight blade on the 8-PW. It is a very nicely blended set and you will be hard pressed to find anyone with a negative opinion on these sticks. Plus, you can scoop up a set for cheap since they were released a couple years ago. I know I will never sell my 735's and I still use the 2-4 iron when I feel swing sloppy.
  20. The only variable factor is the individuals swing. Head, shaft, ball and swing speed (e.g. 80,90,100,110) can all be isolated and tested, right? Possibly can include transition tempo to test shaft flex and kick points. So, we could produce a series of data points for these items and get a fairly accurate idea of which driver is longest or is the swing that big a factor that it will throw doubt on the entire "study"?
  21. I thought it was just the blades that everyone had an opinion on; appears shoes are just as hot of a topic. I can't wait until the white belt thread starts so I can figure out if it okay to hate white belts or if I should admire them.
  22. The brand or style of irons you play is probably not very important, sure I agree with brand, but the style/model and characteristics of the club are a factor, maybe not huge, but still a factor that just can't simply be ignored or written off.
  23. I am so tempted to pick up a set of these... I don't even want to hit them because I just know they are going to be pure and then I will be ~$900 poorer. I would say they have a lot of blade features (thin top line, less offset, thinner sole) but are not blades. I think the marketing terms is "Players Cavity"?
  24. You know, your post makes me think about how each of us view the game. Some look at golf only through the prism of score and how to score the lowest the easiest, while others, myself included, look at golf through the prism of heritage and history. I think I have discovered a personal bias through your post. I think I care less about score and “how easy golf is”, and I care more about the challenges and mastering them. Thus, perhaps, this is why I "punish ;)" myself by playing blades and hitting my tee shots off the deck (Driver excluded). Got me thinking..... Am I a masochist?
