Is the latest and greatest needed?
Dr.Golf replied to RussUK's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I play two sets of irons, Nike VR Pro Blades, lefty of course and I have a new/older set of Taylormade Rocketbladze Tours lefty and I game both depending on how I'm hitting the ball that week and the type of course I'm playing. Both sets are from 2013 though the Taylormade are new old stock and my Nike irons were new old stock from 2015. Driver is new old Stock Nike and putter (I have two) Nike 001 new old stock 2016 and an Odyssey new old stock 2015. Wedges are Nike new old stock from 2015 and 3 and 5 woods are Titleist from maybe 2011/12. I don't ever buy new stuff the year anything comes out. I always wait a year or two and grab them at a fraction of the former retail price. My .02 cents. Dr. Golf -

Nike Method Concept Putter - what do you tihnk?
Dr.Golf replied to TheGeekGolfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Bought one for $69.00 new lefty 35 " and love the feel which has aided me in getting the ball closer to the hole. Now the looks have taken some time but after a while, you simply forget the black bar and putts really stay on line. doc -
Best of luck. It's great to have dreams...... I did as well, then, marriage, family, home, another home, job, health issues, you get the picture. I'm not trying to discourage you at all just the opposite! I applaud your goals and I wish you the best of luck with your business venture. doc

Yellow has always been, for me, easier to see in flight and on the ground. That said.......I still almost always use white. Guess I don't have the guts to use yellow. When I first started golfing thirty years ago, I used orange............boy were they easy to spot!!!!

Is the Golf Equipment Business one big scam?
Dr.Golf replied to Rick Martin's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have worked at a golf retail business for about two years (having left recently being it was my second job) and have put hundreds of golfers through swing simulators to compare distances, flight, etc, against their current drivers. I'll say this as simply as I can........NOT ONE TIME did the golfer pick up any additional yards. We used many OEM brands, newest and latest but NEVER did ONE golfer express to me nor did the results on the monitor show ANY DIFFERENCES! What did change was the feel and flight of the ball given the changes made to the driver clubhead (settings). Any claim by the companies for extra yardage was never evident in any test I performed. I would ALWAYS wait a year maybe year and a half to pick up a so called OLD driver at a huge reduction in price.....plus my discount. Ball flight corrections and head feel were the only two points that were ever noticed. Find the driver that gives you the desired ball flight with the correct shaft for your swing speed, etc and stick with it. You WILL NOT gain any yards with any other driver out there. Not that I've experienced anyway and I've seen them all right up to the latest offerings (2013). Good luck doc -
Gotta go with my newest gamers...........Callaway Razr X Muscleback irons...........Love the look and feel. doc

Another impulse buying spree....................Callaway Razr X Muscleback irons.................. Love 'em doc -
Had them twice................coudn't make up my mind! Finally gave up trying to like them and bought Callaway Razr X Musclebacks. Love the thin sole and top line as well as having the ability to move the ball better than with the AP2s. My 2 cents doc

Master Scotty Cameron Putters: Worth It or Not? Thread
Dr.Golf replied to JEWMAH9701's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I currently switch between my milled tour Odyssey black series putter and my Scotty Cameron Newport 2 putter which I've owned for about ten years now. Whatever I use, I almost always come back to my Scotty. Love the feel, look, etc. p.s. I am a lefty and there are many more choices for us in the last few years, Scotty's included! doc -
There's a few things on Golf Channel that I don't watch ie. (Big Break=hate it and Hank Haney's show) to me both a waste of my time. With that said, watch what you want and discard the rest. No need to cancel a subscription just because of one show! Morning drive is okay, some of it I like and other items about the show I skip over. I record just about everything from Golf channel and avoid the commercials, chatter, et al. My take doc
