  1. Yes The Daintree is one of the prettiest spots in the country & as you say the Great Barrier Reef is exceptional, even more so when you consider how large it is. Glad you enjoyed your visit to OZ & please come again. Did you play any golf while you were here . there are some very good golf courses around Cairns. Hi marpr. Nice to see another Aussie on this Forum, I believe there are a few more here but havn,t found any yet..

    Soccer

Can,t agree with that I,m a reds supporter . Not having a great year this year but will in the future ( I hope).
  3. Have not played overseas but S.E Queensland has plenty of good quality courses in a fairly small area, including the one Karrie Webb is playing this weekend.
  4. I have the 18 deg Cobra Baffler & I would say it is probably the most useful club in the bag. It is so much easier to hit than a 2 or 3 iron& there are so many different shots you can use it for. My stock shot with most clubs is a slight draw. with the Baffler I can hit (CONTROLLED!!) hook & cut shots. It,s also great for those awkward punch shots from under the trees.I do not think you will regret purchasing these clubs, hope you enjoy them.
  5. It has to be Driver, I would use it 12 times a round, next best would probably be either gap wedge or lob wedge but would hate to think I would have to use either of these 12 times in 1 round.
  6. I find this type of comment insulting, similar to people who think a graders hit the driver 300m, b graders, 250m etc.far too simple for me. I would suggest that most amateurs come up short most times because they [pick the club required to make the shot & then do not hit it perfectly.I would also say that 90% of miss hit shots will come up short & only about 5 to 10% will fly long. Maybe its time some of these professionals showed us ameteurs a little respect even if we do not hit the ball as well as they do
  7. Living in the tropics I play in hot temperatures & high humidity all the time. I doubt that the changes in temperatures that we get would have much effect on ball flight. However there is no doubt in my mind having played in high humidity a lot of the time that this does affect the balls flight considerably. In fact as much as 1 full club (about 10m ) on really hot & humid days.I factor this difference into my shots & it does work.
  8. I am a member of a golf club & have been for 10 years. Play twice a week so is the most economical way. play in club competitions, rarely play social golf anymoreas i like the pressure of competition
  9. Three times now I have logged in, then typed a reply to a thread & then been informed that I do not have permission to post a reply because I am not logged on. on other occasions I have posted replies on the same thread with no problems. This is very annoying if the reply is reasonably long. Also confusing when bottom of page is telling me I am not logged on & the top of the page is saying I am.
  10. I think this post is spot on. talk to a teaching pro ,your old clubs may not be suitable for you (tooshort, Too long wrong shafts. ) these guys earn there living teaching & selling . they will know what is best for you.
  11. Sorry to hear that But it is the comittees decision . just curious . what reason did they give for the disqualification. good luck in the scratch. I reckon it is the best version of the game to play.
  12. There are no requirements in the rules of golf for a player to submit a scorecard when playing matchplay. the only reason for submitting a card is if you where playing matchplay & strokeplay at the same time which is not legal as far as the Rules of golf are concerned. Would this be a club ruling.
  13. Next time your feeling down go watch some of the pro,s playing . don,t worry about the good shots watch for the bad ones They have some shockers too .gives you a whole new perspective on the game. P.S. I was feeling the same way not long ago ,still playing,I,m HOOKED
  14. What Amateur golfer would not want to shoot par. It gives all of us something to shoot for.How would the handicapping system work if we changed par on the course according to each golfers ability. No thanks I would just like to shoot 72 (PAR.)
  15. Isa it normal in America to hand in a scorecard for a matchplay round. In Australia we do not ,as often you do not play all 18 holes before the match is decided & the total score in matchplay is unimportant.Only the hole by hole result counts
  16. As both players did not understand the rules there was no agreement to waive the rules so there is no penalty. in the case of the extra holes ,as your opponent made no claim to have won the hole before teeing off on the next hole he has no claim on that hole & the hole is halved, regardless of the fact that he should have had a stroke there. the only decision that needs making is how you decide the match after suspending play for bad light. this should be decided by your club rules official as should the decision on the result of the match Hope this helps ,regards, pom.
  17. What sort of competitions do you play if they are not played off handicap & are they graded
  18. This looks good to me, I have a precept 10inch bag with 14 sections. Starting top left driver/5wood/3h,brid space 4/5/6 7/8/9/p,w 52/56/60. Putter goes in outside pocket. This never changes now as before I bought this bag I had a bad habit of selecting & hitting the wrong club by accident Figured this was the only way to fix that.
  19. 55 in July this year, been playing for 12 years. Nice to see such a cross section of age groups on this forum.

    Handicap Index

As a club member I play 18 holes regularly ( twice a week) so my handicap is processed in the Australien Golf lLnk system. I believe it is similar to the british handicapping system .someone please correct me if I am wrong about that. The American ststem seems quite confusing going by the posts in this thread.
  21. As you can see from the title I.m an Aussie, born in E.ngland & emigrated when I was 10 years old. I play off a 16 h/cap at the moment & like most golfers I want to get it lower. Feel for you guys in the north that can.t play for the snow. Don,t know what I,d do if I couldn.t play 12 months of the year. Only thing that stops play here is the rain & thats not that often Best of luck for all in the coming season, I,m off to play 9 holes.
  22. Being a glazier in Australia means I work with glass & aluminium. Most of our work is fabricating & fitting commercial shopfronts.Latest project is The School Of Visual Arts at James Cook University.
  23. Get my handicap down to 12 or lower & play to it.
  24. Have shot 81 2 or 3 times off 17 h/cap my best round was 83 off a 21 h/cap 3 years ago. struggling to get lower than 17 & stay there
  25. Hi ffellas, good to see e few Aussies around I work in the construction industry running my own glazing company in cyclone country.
