Yup, I'm just about done rooting for Els. He no longer delivers and I'm left with nothing but disappointment when I think of him. He used to make a real hard game look easy oftentimes. Now he makes it look almost as hard as it really is.

I watch an almost shameful amount of TV, and for my money, 30 Rock is by far the best show on right now. The writing is so different than anything else out there. Highly satirical and intelligent. They cover Pop Culture to Politics, and everything in between. You almost have to DVR each episode and watch them more than once just to get all the jokes. If you haven't seen it you can catch up online. In only it's second season this year, it is already in my career top 5.

So, Golf Channel got a tune-up in the last few days or so. What do you think of it? Compared to before? Comments? It's cleaner looking to my eye first off. I also think it's organized better. I always felt confused on their site before and felt it only took painful repetition to learn.

Best Golf Course in Myrtle Beach?
bca42 replied to AnalogAG's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
Wow, I didn't think they were that expensive. TPC Myrtle was great last time I was there (2 yrs ago). Great course, service etc. Heard lots of positive feedback on Dunes courses and Barefoot's as well, but no firsthand intel for you. -
Best Golf Course in Myrtle Beach?
bca42 replied to AnalogAG's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
Caledonia and True Blue are right next door to one another and are both favorites of mine. They are south though, and some folks don't like the extra drive down there. Caledonia is a very..South Carolina-like course in my view. The course is set on great property with a Fishing Club as well. Some creative and challenging holes. 18 is many people's favorite. True Blue I love for it's waste bunkers. Holes are roomy enough, but if you hit a leaker, and catch one of their many waste bunkers, you can 1) ground your club and 2) usually advance the ball (opposed to punching out). I don't believe either would disappoint. I'd recommend checking the pricing as I'm not sure exactly, and of course a call for the current course conditions. Have fun! -
I'm a day late on the post, but I'll take Choi or Holmes.

Yes, that was my intended point. He doesn't have the say, but without getting into bylaws and his powers, I'm sure he can say, Wait til next year. Finchem should say, 'Hey, you guys [on the PAC] voted for this, now we have it, so live with it [for now].' Not, 'OK, let's meet again, 7 weeks after we made the initial change.' The whole thing just reeks for my taste. Not everyone is going to be happy. You got the guys (assumed at the bottom of leaderboard) who don't want to miss the weekend and you got the guys (assumed at the front of leaderboard) that can't stand the 5 hr rounds. Also you'd think these guys might be, lets say, 'happy' to have the FedEx points and money and cut made. Nope. I heard the Podcast, and I agree lower the field (I think I posted a comment along these lines some time ago) to a previous thread in the forum. This entire issue seems contrary to what they normally do, which is elevate the level of play. Best golfers play. Across all the tours they subscribe to this approach - because it's in their best interest to always cater to the best product.

I like the thread topic here.. First I'm from Boston so there's a bias. But I haven't watched a C's game in at least 15 years. Mostly because I don't like the way the game/league changed post late-80s, but second I guess because the most storied franchise in it's history was repeatedly a non-factor. I gave them a few games into this season, but then I have watched nearly in entirety every single game . They are impressive and I'm happy for Pierce to finally have some help. Only time will tell for them...but they have a chance. Those 3 guys have to stay healthy and more importantly their bench has to find a way to become reliable. They're too hot and cold up to now.

First, be positive about this issue. The stuff you mentioned, largely, many golfers experience. Find a better approach to it. Ultimately it will come down to you love the game enough to do what you have to to play it, or you don't. Outside of this general advice, perhaps you can join in with the older members at your course. I did this years ago at my course. While there are a few guys around my age, most are not and the vast majority of members are 15, 20 and 30+ years older than me. There's always going to be people you don't get along with, find the ones that you do and stick with them.

Putters seem to have the most longevity in the bag for me. Just started using my second putter ever last year. That's two putters in almost 13 years.

Good point, I'm sure it varies by state (or by association).

I can't believe Finchem is making this move , It's so unlike him (and PGA) to even consider a midway change after barely 2 months. If he continues to revert from his typical Gestapo-like ways, the guys will think he's getting soft or something.
-
I'm sure the video will be on TV soon enough. Yeah, he's a sharp guy. Lots of those guys are real sharp and quick witted...entertaining to say the least..

I got this from an interview transcript at the Dubai Desert Classic: Q. Ian Poulter has been quoted as saying that he doesn't rate any other golfers in the world apart from you; do you think it's just about you and Ian in world golf or do you rate the other golfers you compete against? TIGER WOODS: Well, I guess he's No. 2 in the world, so he's moved up in the rankings pretty quickly. (Laughter).

Was this list a joke? If so, you are funny. If not, disregard my post

I'm sure the scientist who developed this technology for missiles is laughing at us silly golfers, but yes, I do like the TV application!

I don't think he said anything wrong per se. Confidence is good. And each one of us knows how good we'd be if we reach our potential. I just wish more athletes would accomplish first, then talk about it.

Mizuno irons do not disappoint.

Any blind shot...just pointless and unimaginative.

A friend/member from my course would win this hands down if it were a contest, and I haven't even looked at anyone else's posts, still I know it to be true. "The Grip" as we called him, hit his 2nd shot on our dogleg left par 4 16th. At the corner of this dogleg is a painted, sheet metal sign attached to a tree that gives the yardage to the green. His shot impaled on the metal sign, as it hit the profile side of it. Just unbelievable! Can I get a ruling here... I believe our pro/club submitted a picture to some golf magazine for publish, though I never saw the magazine piece.

Changes in handicap index limit for public links
bca42 replied to doublesuited77's topic in Golf Talk
Though I'd be excluded with my current index, I think it's a good idea. There are too many people who play in these types of events that really don't have the game. I wish they'd lower the max limit for my State Pub Links too. It's important to say, this isn't being done to keep certain people out, it's done to make the fields as competitive as possible and have the best golfers available. If you want to play in it, improve your game. This sort of thing is also being done on Champ and regular Tour event qualifiers. -
Matt- This came up recently with some friends (not surprisingly I guess since it is winter). I tried some new ish products from Duofold , who are to me, known more for their traditional thermal layers. They have ventured into the techy side, and have two products that I think perform excellent in warmth, mobility and oddly enough, price. I got them from the Champion site that Duofold links you to when you click "Buy now" at the top of the page. Here are the two products I have... ProTherm VariTherm
