Ironic that you say the cut off for proper ball striking ability is 58 degrees and, sure enough, you carry a 58 degree wedge!!!!! Modesty much???? 64 seems extreme to me, but whatever gives you confidence and keeps your bag at 14 or fewer clubs is good in my book.

It may be too little too late, but he is making a charge this morning.....

I think putting is way more about confidence than mechanics, equipment or proper setup. Whatever feels good and gives you confidence is what you should go for.

I wish I could get by without a glove. Sweaty hands in humid weather are a pain.

I envy their consistancy, trajectory and nerves. The #1 thing I envy is the % of putts from 15' and closer that they make. Tour players seem to average 25-27 putts per round while I average probably 30-32. A tour level putting ability would turn my 2 handicap into a +3.

The guy just continues to amaze me. This tourney is setting up with potential for an exciting finish. I'm pulling for Bryant and O'Hair

I guess I shouldn't have ripped Houston so bad and I apologize to any locals who I have offended. I just wasn't a fan of Houston as it differs so much from my native St. Paul. Houston does have plenty of excellent golf opportunities and the restaurants are great. Chuy's on Westheimer is awesome. If you can afford to live in the Rice village area I'm sure you can find some character around those parts. Astros games are fun and the stadium is top notch. You just have to be patient in rush hour driving and be able to handle air conditioning 10 months a year to make it in Houston.

Tiger Woods is really good......

Thanks for the feedback. I'm probs gonna go with the gun blue finish as I'm kinda anal about keeping my clubs clean and looking sharp.

I buy a pair of Foot Joy rain gloves every spring and use the left hand glove for everyday use. It may not give you the feel you are looking for, I don't mind the feel, but it will last the whole season as the leather is much more resilient.

Recommendations in the Houston area
mn723 replied to nevets88's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
I forgot to mention Blackhorse golf club, which is approx 30-40 min west of downtown. It is a really nice upscale public place. They have two courses but it's been a couple years so I can't remember if one is better than the other. Defs worth a trip out there if you don't mind shelling out $90 for a round. -
Not to rain on your parade, but I lived in Houston for 2+ years and think it's one of the worst places in the country to live. It has some good golf, but the city is sprawling, character free, crime ridden and has unbearable traffic.

Does Anyone Here Golf Right Handed and Bat Left Handed?
mn723 replied to choran's topic in The Grill Room
Throw - Righty Bat - Lefty Hockey - Lefty Golf - Righty I think the fact that I bat lefty and golf righty has really helped my golf swing from developing some bad habits. However, hockey players seem to be naturally gifted at golf and since I played a lot of hockey growing up I'm not sure any of those skills translated to my opposite handed golf swing. -
I was rolling Circa 62 #3 putters at Golfsmith last night and really liked them. They had both the charcoal mist finish and the gun blue finish. For some reason the gun blue finish felt softer to me. Was my mind playing tricks on me or is there any substance to what my hands were feeling? I understand the gun blue may require more care/maintenance.... is this an issue to be worried about?

Should I bend my MP60s 1 degree weak?
mn723 replied to jeff's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Why would you want to mess around with a new set of sweet irons??? Play with them first and see if you need to fill any yardage gaps (you wont) before you start bending new irons. No way you're gonna notice a difference in 1 degree, unless your name is Tiger Woods. -
Driver, 5-iron, 9-iron, SW and putter

Titleist vs. Mizuno vs. Ping irons
mn723 replied to wardamneagle's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Of the three companies I've only played the Ping i3 (6 years) and Mizuno MP-57 (4 rounds). You can't go wrong with Ping as their designs are an institution and copied everywhere. Pings probably are a little more forgiving overall. My Mizunos are awesome, but everything usually is after only 4 rounds. I'll report back in a couple years. I've never played Titleist irons, they just never peaked my interest. -
What make of glove do you wear...
mn723 replied to PutterHead's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I wear a Foot Joy rain glove. A pair costs $20. I only wear the left hand glove and it will last a whole season. -
My MP-57's are sweet. The 3-iron does look a little intimidating, but I had been using i3 oversized long irons for 6 years. I caught my first 3 iron off the tee in the sweet spot with the 57's and nothing in golf has ever felt better.

Recommendations in the Houston area
mn723 replied to nevets88's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
Lived there for 2+ years. Weather in March should be in the 70's, but know that there always is a chance for rain in Houston and it's humid every day of the year. As far as public golf I really recommend Memorial Park, which is close to the Galleria and priced well for Houston. Bear Creek Masters course is also good, it's probs a 30min drive west from the Galleria. Southwyck is a fun links style course on the south end of town, probs an hour drive from the Galleria. Avoid Wildcat golf course, overpriced and overhyped in my opinion. -
Mizuno makes sweet irons..... I love mine
-
I was able to go down south and use my Burner for the fist time last week. It's the normal version, so I understand it still has a slight draw basis. All I know is that when I swung hard it went high, deep and drew about 10 yards consistantly. A normal good drive with my old driver (Mizuno MP-100) would draw about 5 yards. I'm not sure if my Burner hits it any further than my MP-100, but it is more forgiving.

Anyone ever deal with Global Golf cust. service?
mn723 replied to DirtCheap's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
No offense DirtCheap, but if the irons had "been played quite a bit previously" and still had the original grips, wouldn't one assume that the grips would probably be needing a replacement. I change my grips at least once and sometimes twice a year. I don't think you have much of a gripe with the conditions of the grips. However, the short 8 iron is something that I feel you should be compensated for. Just my 2 cents.
