Shot 75 (part 71) yesterday. Front I played with hacks but saved a decent score with putts (42 on front). Back I got a groove. Birdied both par 5s, parred the rest and was getting up and down incredibly well (33 on back). Hit 7 Greens (all on the back) and 5 fairways (4 on back) and had 27 putts (14F-13B). Best round this year, wish the front was better though.

I think part of it is in you (determination, focus, strive to be THAT good) and part of it is in your ability to be able to play and practice golf all day everyday. You can have both seperately and it won't do you any good (play all day without focusing on getting better or focus on getting better without the opportunity to practice/play) but if you have the rare chance to bring them together, I think one might have a chance with some luck.

Low-Mid trajectory with everything with a slight fade. I try to use mostly 3/4 swings and finish low with the wind up here in the midwest. I rarely hit a full iron, almost always take more club and do a punch/knock down shot.

Read "Paper Tiger" by Tom Coyne. He took a year to see how good he could get. This is the best example that the average joe cannot play even on some of the mini tours out there. As stated in the book "Scratch is shit."

On Monday morning I shot 86 (40/46 - Par 71). Finally a day with no wind and I couldn't do anything. I played with hacks most of the day and managed fairly well considering the swings I was using to hit the ball.

I was going to ask if there was a way to do this a couple of days ago. Thoroughly enjoy this new feature. Very nice.

Had a situation arise today and didn't know exactly how to play it so I played two balls. I hit a drive into a lateral hazard. After finding it I noticed I would be able to play it, and I didn't ground my club but I hit some tall "cattails" on both my backswing and follow through. Didn't know if it was a penalty, so I played a second ball (where I dropped) and finished out both balls. Hopefully somebody can let me know if it would be a penalty for hitting my first ball (since I never grounded the club, but hit objects in the lateral hazard on my backswing and follow through). I kept both scores and I'm waiting to post it on my handicap until I find an answer. Thanks in advance.

Give this tip/drill a shot. I used to have little wrist hinge as well, but this helped (along with other things) for me, hopefully will help you out as well. Click here Hope this helps.

Saturday - 83 (par 71) on a windy, windy day. Ate up the par 5's (minus 3) but got killed on par 3s (plus 9). Today - 85 (46/39 - Par 72) so my back was way better. Had back to back birdies on the back, but had some trouble with par 3's again.

^ Ditto for me.

I went through this decision last year (replacing 3 Wood). I tried out quite a few three woods, and I'll break down what I thought about the ones I remember most. Callaway XHot - Incredibly long, ten yards further than others, but incredibly hard to hit off the deck if you ask me. Great from the tee, hard off the turf if it isn't a "fluffed" lie. Cobra Speed 3 - Straight and fairly long, but again basically a backup driver, not good from the turf. Nike Sasquatch 3W - Nasty duck hook with this club. If I remember right 7 or 8 out of 10 were nasty, nasty duck hooks. Could have had a draw bias or wrong shaft for me or something, but not good results. Titleist 904f2 - *Winner for me* Great off the tee, nice boring ball flight for into the wind. Easy to get off the turf (I'm a 10 hcp so it shouldn't too bad for you either). Easy to work (unlike the clubs with offset). That's my breakdown, hopefully it helps, if not you, hopefully somebody, but I would just go to a store and grab a half dozen 3w's and start cracking balls and see what you like. That's the best way to do it.

I'm not a big fan of the "Fairways hit" stat, because I don't think it is that important to be in the fairway. I am actually in the fairway a decent amount, but the key (for me anyway) is to know where you can miss the fairway and get away with it on courses you play frequently (the only time I concentrate on fairways as a necessary thing is on new courses). It just always seemed to matter more to me about GIR and up and downs, not fairways, because you can miss a fairway by 1 foot and still have a great look at the green or even have "semi-rough" on some of the nicer courses that don't count as a fairway, but it doesn't affect your next shot enough to make you worry about it normally. Just my two cents.

Shot 89 (Par 71) today. First real 18 hole round this year and it was windy as f*** (25-30mph) steady. Still nice to get out and I didn't shoot too bad for how crappy it was.

What clubs can I do without?
Leonardite replied to whattaguy's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I would suggest dropping the 19* fairway wood and the three iron. With the 19* hybrid in there, you basically get the best of both worlds (FW/Iron) and most people aren't looking to hit a 5W (19*) or a 3 Iron to an exact yardage, they are just looking to hit out there. Keep the wedge if your short game isn't great, it's useful to have an extra club in that area. -
Fargo ND - General consensus is Edgewood. ( www.fargogolf.net ) Although I haven't played the Country Club so that might be okay as well. North Dakota as a whole: Hawktree in Bismarck - www.hawktree.com Bully Pulpit in Medora - http://www.medora.com/attractions/golf/index.html Links of ND in Ray - www.linksofnorthdakota.com Haven't played Bully Pulpit or Links yet (plan on playing them this summer) but from looks and through the grapevine those are the three best in ND.

An excellent choice. The shots around the green could have had something to do with fatigue if they were later in the round, but if you keep walking that won't play a factor. Keep on walking and best luck.

What make of grips do you use?

Golf Pride Tour Velvet. -
Literally laughed out loud at this.

I have one. 125 yard par 3 (club PW) when I was 15.
-
3 rounds of 73 on par 72s. And I missed a couple 3 footers in each round.

Thoughts on the Titleist 905R driver?
Leonardite replied to clubmaker15's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Love my 905R. As stated above, test out shafts and see which one you like. I must warn you that you won't get near the height that you do with your Hibore, atleast I didn't when I tested them out (with the same shafts in both), so keep that in mind if that's a concern or the reason you are switching. -
Play it as it lies unless everybody in the group/tournament agrees on winter rules in the fairways only (the rough is supposed to be punishment so you can't improve you ball there IMO).
-
I have the same problem with hazard yardages... I bought a GPS and plan to make custom points my first time out and use them the rest of the year. For courses I play only once or twice a year, I just guess, or I ask my playing partners if they play it more frequently.
-
I just keep my clubhead square to the target and align my feet to where I want to start the ball, then swing on a path similar to my feet. I can't say it works all the time (works more with fades then draws for me) but I don't hit too many shaped shots anyway.
