  1. Three red dots under the #. One for each kid.
  2. You have to admire a guy that can evoke such strong emotions in people, both for and against. Plain vanilla seldom gets any emotion out of anyone. I think the guy's filter has been removed, but that at least makes him interesting to listen to. Even when I don't like what he has to say, I listen to see how whacky his next statement is. His Poulter comments on Sunday made me laugh out loud, if only because he had the guts to say what all else were thinking. Can't knock him for that can ya?
  3. So where do you rate your stock or repeatable swing? 70% of "hard"? 75%? 80%? When I back off too much I always end up dubbing the club in the ground prior to contact.
  4. Absolutely! West of the Mississippi many colleges have rodeo teams.
  5. My parallel at your age: My step brother has won the "Super Bowl" of rodeo. I know what it takes to get there. I chose between a full-ride rodeo scholarship and an academic scholarship. My guardian angel helped me choose school over rodeo. I still was on the college team, but at a less competitive school and ended up with a superb education from a D1 school that is recognized in many circles. Luckiest break ever for me. I still compete and have won several titles, but as I've aged have realized my life isn't defined by rodeo. Get a good education. Keep golfing and learning. You'll have time and experience in the game when you finish school. It you still want a career in golf there are many avenues available to you. But get the education so you have alternatives in case you change your mind five years from now. Golf will never go away. The game can always be part of your life. This is advice I give my own kids, who, BTW, wouldn't exist if I'd gone to another college...
  6. Thread revival! Since I can't watch any golf on TV and it is 8* outside... I LOVE this idea and am adding it to my bucket list. AZ, CO, WY, SD and MT off the list. Boy do I have a long way to go . Anyone else pull this off? I'm gonna have to start making a plan .
  7. Too bad they had to kick the can again.... Listening to Johnny MIller basically call Ian Poulter an actress was kinda funny. I honestly admire Poulter. Johnny must not suffer the same fate I hope they can get in 54 one way or another. They have to win to get here and benefit from the jump start in earnings. Hope tomorrow is a better day for them.
  8. So will Kuchar be fined by his sponsor for not wearing his cap in this wind?
  9. Dozen NXT Tours, a Nike glove AND a SC Laguna from the Custom Shop. Thank you, Santa!! Santa apparently knew just what I wanted from a very accurate descpription I provided...
  10. I play often with a guy that has the ugliest putting stroke you could find anywhere. It is 180 degrees from being a "text book" stroke. That being said, he is one of the best putters from a scoring stand point I know. Everyone tells him how ugly it is and he doesn't care. He kills all of them with fewer strokes. And he spends about two seconds reading putts. 100% mental with him! Please remember: 67% of all statistics are made up on the spot!!
  11. Quot My only concern is, does a higher game improvement iron hamper improvement, meaning, does the lack of visual response on a miss hit make a person learn slower? I think it does. If your getting the basics down; weight forward, flat left wrist, steady head, hitting the sweet spot more often than not. Really big misses can be fixed, and i think a more responsive club helps out. From minimal play with my AP's thus far, I have to agree. The feedback is a "no BS" indication if you are hitting it pure or not. Thin shots vibrate to your elbows. Fat shots feel like you are stirring marshmallows. Your first pure shot is crisp perfection. With my SGI's, you had a pretty good idea from visual result what your shot was like, but the reward sometimes differed little from the penalty on a well struck versus poorly struck shot. I've been trying to draw/fade and flight the ball to see what I'm capable of. I'm not good enough to pull the shots on command, but the feedback is sure telling me more about how and why I missed. Plus it REALLY makes you want to hit another pure shot and gets that awesome feedback.
  12. I'm a high handicapper and from what I read wouldn't be able to hit the AP2's. I tried them out and LOVED them. They feel great, look great and sound awesome. It took a week or two to start striking them well and turned cold a couple weeks after I bought them, but I'm really looking forward to more time with them in the coming season. I went from off-the-rack SGI's to fitted AP2's and the distance and ball flight is quite different.
  13. Used mine for three weeks. Sold it and lost $50 and was happy to do it. Just wasn't right for me.
  14. My friend manages the course, so guilt won't let me take nice range balls that make their way over the fence. I'm a contributor. What I find on the course I drop on the range on my way out. I hope karma shows up soon...
  15. I'm in. Always looking for a way to keep workouts interesting-
  16. Great read! I'm inspired by hearing from someone who has walked the path I want to travel. Thanks!
  17. We always play for $, and is sounds like a lot to someone that has never played with our group before. But the bets are split so many ways by the end of the day if you lose $20 you've had a REALLY bad day. Mostly is is about getting under the skin of who's hot or not on a hole or stretch of holes Thick skin and a sense of humor are required or we are not very much fun to play with.
  18. In case my wife reads this, a range pass would be a perfect gift!
  19. Broke 90 for the first time this year, so I have 80 in the gunsights for this year. I also will play a round a week with my kids. I hope they can enjoy the game with me, as I hope it is something we can do together for years to come.
  20. Walk away for a week or so... You'll wake up one morning and think about playing again. Then get after it! Some of my best days have come after nearly walking away from the course. Justy remember the last shot that made you feel great and focus on it. Positive attitude builds on itself.
  21. Northern Plains winter golf gear: Stocking cap or ear band, FJ wintersof gloves, compression base layer top and bottom, long-sleeve polo, pants, a fleece and optional windshell and your rain pants. A neck gaiter can help a LOT for regulating your temp. Mid-20's play is okay until the wind gets over 15 m.p.h. That is when I pack it up
  22. I went to the TItleist Tour Van fitting at the local course and it was awesome. Ping was there a few days later and a friend went and he had a great experience from them as well. No cost to either of us. I ordered a driver that day for well under the price in the clubhouse. Not sure how seasonal the Tour Van is, but I'd sure go back. Then I was fit for irons later this summer at Golfsmith. I had my mind made up on brand before I went from research and hitting a friend's irons of the same brand. The fitter talked me into a stiffer shaft than I felt right about, but it has turned out that he was right. No cost when I ordered that day, but I don't recall what it would have been had I not purchased the irons... Seeing your swing #'s on the swing monitor, Tracman, etc... is a very cool experience. Go for it!
  23. Bubba's shot in the playoff's will be referenced for years to come, I have to believe!
  24. G CSU class of '93. Ag Business. College rodeo dropout. Back to thread...
