Off the Tee..In General....Draw or Fade?
Daddy Golfer replied to Three Putt's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I prefer fade. I seem to see that shot over a draw. If a hole requires a draw from the tee I pull out my 4W, which is draw bias. -
I don't have a home course but I belong to a tournament league. www.nwhga.org

My previous wedge was a Cleveland 588 rusty. It did the job. One thing tho, my clubs are satin finished so when rusty touched them for a period of time it transfered the rust over. That's when I started using those head covers on all my clubs. Now that I think of it, just covering rusty would have worked to. lol

I'm usually playing a ProV1 but this winter I tried the TP Red, TP Black, Bridgestone e5 and e6. I still like the ProV1 but the price tag is a little steep for me so I had to find an alternative. The TP Red makes a great winter ball, it is very soft and is wonderful around the greens. The TP Black is to hard for me. It feels and sound like I'm hitting a glass ball. Both the Bridgestones are great around the green but for some reason I'm hooking them off the tee and long approaches. I thought it was my swing so I dropped a ProV1 on the tee and drove it straight with a slight draw. I'd imagine the Bridgestones would be excellent for faders. The thing I've found about the TP Red is I chew 'em up, so I have to switch to a new one every 6 holes, which can be a good thing. Also, I can spin these far easier than the ProV1, so I attack past the pin on most approaches. I haven't tried the New TP Red (4 ply) yet. Also, if anyone knows, are the Burner TP's (3 ply) similar to the old TP Red or Black or neither?

Place a CD or DVD on the floor, shinny side up. Place the ball in the center and take your putting stance. You should be able to see into the cd where your eyes are. Align your eyes over the ball, this will give you the distance of how close you need to be for the ball to be over your eyes and center of your stance. I personally align the ball over my left eye so when I turn my head I see the putter line better. Place the putter level behind the ball and take note of how close and the position of the handle related to you stance. Take your putting grip and take note of your wrists. My left wrist is cupped and my right is straight , so when I take my putt my left wrist feels like it's pointing at my line during the whole stroke, and my wrists don't break so I know I'm using my shoulders correctly. As you can see I have the Adams BTY 4350 10.5 with the ProLaunch Stiff. I've grown to trust this driver. It doesn't hit as far as my previous driver Mizuno MP1 9 degree, but I hit more fairways. I do tend to push my drives but it's better than duck hooking, which was the reason for the change. I'm looking at the Adams XTD a3, not sure about the box drivers but I want to start winning those long drive competitions again. lol.

Okay. I'd have to agree that it could be one of the easiest greens on the course if the pin where in the front or middle. But the pin was in the middle of the two funnels, and if you where lucky to not roll all the way into the bunker, you can't tell me that the putt up the funnel is cake. If I ended up on the bottom it would have to be a good putt or flop, cause you got maybe 2 feet from the pin before you start going down the other funnel.

I've played in what felt like a hurricane at the time and picked up a tip from it - don't stand down wind from your partners swing. When he takes a divit it may splat all over you.

Mine is a swing thought: Swing to the fence. I'm a righty so it would be the right fence.

This winter i bought a used 4x4 hitting mat and a big mouth net to put in my garage. Got an electric heater and was set. I practice everyday. I've been especially working on my take-away and posture. Also, my chipping contact and putting stance and take-away. It's nice having it so when I'm watching The Golf Channel and see an instruction to try I can run to the garage and see if it's worth adding it to my practice routine. It's true that it's not the same as hitting balls into an open field but that's why I work on the fundamentals instead of hitting balls.

The Home Course, Dupont, Washington Hole 8: Nisqually, Par5, blue tees, 526 yards Condition: Warm and breezy. A push to the right drive off the tee left me in the rough approx. 275 to green. Excellent 2nd shot with 4W to center of fairway leaving 50 yards to pin. Let me explain this green: the front of the green is guarded by a bunker on the right side. In the back, there is a bunker on the right and one on the left. The back part of the green funnels any stray shots into these bunkers. The pin is the the middle of these two funnels. This is a very dangerous green so if I shot a high attack to the pin and the ball faded or drew a little, I'd be in the bunker. So I took my 50 degree wedge, chose my landing spot toward the center and gave it a half swing to roll 2 feet past the pin for my bird.

My goal for 2008 is to get my handicap in the single digit. That means working on my shots around the greens (130 yrds and in), bunkers, and putting (specifically, lag). And win 1st place in my league again.

Well last Sunday I shot a 76 at the Auburn course to beat my friend who's a 5 handicap. His wedge game was not there that day. This Saturday, I shot an 83 at The Home Course then went' back Sunday to shoot 79. I could not read the breaks. Missed about 5 birdie putts.

A CD. I read this in the August 2007 issue of Golf Magazine. The CD helps me get my eyes over the ball and see how the putter sits in my stance. I practice this almost everyday in my living room just to ingrain the image and feel of how close I have to be to the ball, the ball position, and the putter angle to my stance. I've stop pulling my putts, now I hit my mark consistently and have no fear on those short putts.

My first experience with golf was at a company golf tourney. I was so bad I vowed to to play better at the next one. So I took lessons to learn the game of golf. My team won 2nd place the following year tourney. I continually took lessons twice a month for 3 years. I still take lessons here and there to work on my game that needs a second eye. I've been playing for 7 years now and the lowest my handicap got was a 6. Yea, lessons help, they can help a lot - even if you get one or two things to help your game. Oh, and this is important, lessons don't work if you don't practice them.

what cub do you hit the most often(other than putter)
Daddy Golfer replied to Eore's topic in Golf Talk
Throughout my short golf experience I tend to leave my drive or my second shot on a par 5 around 125 yards or less. I've practiced with my 50 degree wedge so at full swing my distance is (depending on wind and elevation) 125 yards average; a three-quarter swing give me 100 yards, and half swing 50 yards. -
Cleveland DSG Wedges -Anyone hit one yet?

I'm interested to know how it does in the sand? If even this club would be applicable to use in the sand. Noobie Member.
