I am hopeful that next season becomes more competitive from start to finish also. Looks like Ferrari has made they're move.... Ferrari confirm Mattia Binotto has resigned as Team Principal | Formula 1® Ferrari have announced that Mattia Binotto is to leave his position as Ferrari Team Principal at the end of the year, putting an end to weeks of speculation.

January 2023 Golf Trip in Hilton Head
Bucki1968 replied to billchao's topic in Member Outings & Meetups
I didn't think Atlantic Dunes was a bad golf course but the others in the group didn't like it as much. If I had to choose to play Harbour Town or Atlantic Dunes, I'm picking HT every time. I think Atlantic Dunes just looks a little "artificial" to me? It's not as much fun to play Atlantic Dunes was pretty much the overall opinion. I actually shot a better score on Harbour Town in harder conditions on a longer course. Harbour Town will really test you. Best par 3's I've ever seen on a golf course. It cost way too much money. But we wanted to check it off the list so....- 50 replies

January 2023 Golf Trip in Hilton Head
Bucki1968 replied to billchao's topic in Member Outings & Meetups
Forgot to add I, I was told by other players (and various other golfers not in our group) that Hilton Head National is in phenomenal shape right now. I think they did mention that it was slightly more $ than old south. They all said they liked the layout at old south better. I'm getting this info second hand for what it's worth.- 50 replies

January 2023 Golf Trip in Hilton Head
Bucki1968 replied to billchao's topic in Member Outings & Meetups
Hey, just got back from HH. Played Harbour Town, Atlantic Dunes, Old South golf links and Oyster Reef. Harbour Town cost us 300.00 and Atlantic Dunes was 150.00. Caddy fee is recommended 40.00 per player for fore caddy. We liked Harbour Town but we weren’t all that impressed with Atlanta Dunes (which was surprising because all our research said it might be better than HT). We LOVED old south and oyster reef. Both great courses. All were in pretty good shape but best greens were oyster creek and old south. Just over seeded at sea pines. Was nice to walk both courses at sea pines. They are very walkable. Just thought I would throw you some info. Old south cost us 78.00 and oyster reef was 99.00.- 50 replies

No, I saw (and heard) the tweets from above. I'm just kinda stunned that Max would be that petty seeing as though he's already world champion. I guess he carries a grudge. Come on Max....let it go.

Not sure I'll miss Gary Koch all that much but didn't mind Maltbie that much. It could be that I'm turning into that "get off my lawn" old guy. Loved Johnny Miller and Ken Venturi. Not sure we'll ever see those type of guys again? Actually, didn't mind Lanny on the CBS broadcasts (and still like him on Golf Channel).
-
That is really strange. Max has nothing to gain here. I figured it would be about getting Checo into second place?

I was playing golf this past Sunday morning with some guys, and we had a couple after the round and were watching the DP tour on golf channel and pre-game NFL stuff. Not one mention of LIV golf finals. One guy at a table near us mentioned the playoffs but obviously there was no way to watch it on the televisions in the grill. I'm not sure many golf fans really give a shit about LIV golf anymore (as seen by the viewer numbers). I know I don't. I did watch a little on Saturday and kinda liked the team format, but it wouldn't cause me to plan a day around it.

Will the Saudis and Donald Trump Save Golf—or Wreck It? | The New Yorker High-level defections! Tiger Woods and Jared Kushner! Lawsuits and blacklists! Is the new LIV league a way to reward players, or the vanity project of a despot, or something else? Great article. I know more now than I did know. Not sure if that's good or bad?

Best Used Driver for the Money

I would look into any of the Callaway Epic/Epic Flash. Great drivers. I switched from the M2 to the Epic years ago and haven't looked back. -
LIV Golf Invitational Bangkok | Final Round | October 9 353,105 views Streamed live on Oct 8, 2022 Watch the final round of the LIV Golf Invitational Bangkok. Learn more about LIV Golf: https://www.livgolf.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LIVGolfInv/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/LIVGolfInv I based it on the number of views steamed live. The number was lower than the 353,000 it is showing now. I assume this number is based just on youtube views?

Not sure how many people watched the Shriners this week, but I see that 340,000 watched LIV golf on Sunday for the final round (YouTube). That doesn't sound like a very big number to me but maybe I'm wrong? I want to say the last LIV golf I watched was the final round in Chicago and that number was almost double. I am wondering how they expect to compete against college football and the NFL on fall week-ends?

Quick end to the season. Red Bull is dominating. Only thing left is to see if Checo can finish second. I'm hoping that Haas can score some points before the year is over. Thought maybe this week Mick would get some points but no dice.

I have a bit of experience with this from a first marriage. My first wife was not a golfer (not an out-door girl, which is one of the two kinds of girls I classified back then, long story for a different topic) so she didn't play. I suppose I could have tried a little harder to get her to play but just never did. I was working as a club pro at the time and was gone all the time. She decided that she needed something else for her and dumped me. I did, however, learn the lesson. If was going to do it again, she would have to be a golfer/outdoor girl. I play golf with her as much (probably more) than anyone else. We take golf trips together. We play with other couples. Not sure where you are playing golf, but most clubs have some sort of "nine and dine" for couples at least once a month. Go play in those. They are fun and you get to meet new people (which may lead to you playing with ladies and making some new friends). As stated above I am not a therapist either, but it sounds like you are willing to try and find a way to be included and yes meeting for drinks should be reasonable afterwards. I'm not sure how much "me" time someone needs, and I do go on some golfing trips without the wife, but she is normally good with it because it gets me out of her way around the house for stuff she wants to destroy and re-do. I think if you start playing with your husband, he's going to warm up to the idea of including you. But that is based on my personal experience. I learned the hard one once and decided to fix it. Not sure if this helps. I wish I could give you a better answer.

Not sure if this applies to the topic but I spent about 10 years in the golf business as assistant professional. I have always loved the sport. But after about 8-9 years I realized that I was not really playing that much golf (maybe once every couple weeks). When I was done working, I didn't want to be at the golf course. What added to this new development was the fact that my girlfriend/wife was also a golfer and likes to play so she would always want to go out to the course and play when I was off (and I just didn't want to). So I figured I would find something else to do that paid very little and have more time off so maybe I would start "wanting" to play again. So, that's what I did. It's worked out great. Golf is now really my only hobby also (as stated above) so I enjoy it much more when I get to do it. I never really "quit" but I certainly didn't have the desire to play. Too much of a good thing? I should add this in. When I was working in the business, I only had one day off a week. And when I did work, it was never an 8 hour day (usually 10-12 most of the time). Plus I worked almost all the major and minor holidays. That may have also had something to do with "golf burnout".

I would have to say this Singapore was actually one of the more entertaining races I have watched this season. I guess you need weather and some qualifying drama to make them interesting?
-
I am actually hoping the International team can make it at least interesting. Maybe the US team comes in over-confident? Obviously the LIV golf league has hurt the internationals more than the Europeans. I find myself actually kind of pulling for the underdogs here.

Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?
Bucki1968 replied to JYB's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Bought a couple dozen Maxfli Tours. Had a reward from Dicks and really didn't need anything else. I do like the balls. Not as much as the AVX but there not bad. -
The one thing I like about LIV (and the only thing) has been the team format (especially on the last day). Not sure how the tour could do it but I think LIV should have a blind draw on Sunday for the teams that are out of the running and have them play two man matches against two players from another team. Give the guys at the bottom of the leaderboard a chance to make some money getting some skins or beating two guys from another team. Maybe the tour could pay out something for the guy who makes up the most strokes on Saturday/Sunday? Pick four name guys and have them play a two man best ball against each other? Just spit balling.

You can usually get 6 months. Okay...but you gotta pick one.

This stems from another one of the completely meaningless debates had after a round of golf with the group. We are all members of a private club that has the benefit of making us members at four other clubs in the immediate area. So we play different courses other than our home club (which is nice so we don't get sick of playing the same golf course over and over). We all agree that this is great. But, we all were having a conversation about any golf course that we could join and just play that course strictly for the remainder of our golf careers (and not get sick of it). Our picks were the following: Pinehurst #2 Oakland Hills country club (two votes) Whistling Straights Crystal Downs (my vote) although there is another course in Michigan that I would pick but it's only 9 holes. Seminole Greywalls (Marquette MI) Any Steamstrong course (prefer the Red) This was based on the fact that we had to have played the course before (I would pick Cypress Point if not). Anybody got any favorites?

He almost got beheaded. No pun intended.

Where Is Your Next Golf Trip Going to Be?
Bucki1968 replied to Smidd4's topic in Destinations and Travel
No I didn't use any online services. I just called the resorts/golf courses and got tee times. Actually didn't cost as much going that route. I got a multi-round discount at Sea Pines and got Oyster Reef 25 bucks cheaper than Tee times USA rate.
