  1. I have the XL and have demo'd the XLS several times. The XLS has a bigger sweet spot, even larger clubface actually. Other than that, I didn't see much a difference.
  2. Good thing for me to remember. I'd shave about 8 strokes per round if I would stop the 3 putts. Distance control is something I really struggle with. Lag putts especially. I'll be 40ft from the hole and end up being at least 10-20ft short or passed it after the putt.
  3. At your height, you should definately go to a fitter. I doubt standard length clubs will work for you. As far as gap wedges, I can't live without mine. I hit my PW about 105-115 and my GW (52deg) around 85-95. It's a perfect club for that yardage since the only other wedge I carry is a 60. And that only goes about 65yds on avg.
  4. After 2 PGA tour wins, a respectable showing at his first open and now tied for 1st and the CDN open I'm starting to see this young guy really make waves. He's got an amazing swing, and very long for his frame. When his flatstick is on, he's tough to beat. One thing he has over the other young stars is mental toughness or ego, whichever you want to look at it. He's learned how to turn his cockiness into confidence. How many wins do you think AK will rack up this year? For me, Adam Scott and Sergio have been busts as far as a challenge to Tiger's throne. And Phil is not getting any younger. Golf needs someone for Tiger to compete with day in day out.
  5. Unless he is a touring pro, I would take the bet and double up ^^ Seems very overconfident that a 6i could beat a
  6. I have the same problem. With the high humidity lately and 110+ heat, fatigue set in on a good round last week. I chewed up the fairways on the last 3 holes at my home course. Spent more time filling divots than reading greens. I find that I play the best on the front 9 always. Mostly because of fatigue. And that goes the same for the driving range. My best balls are always the first half of the 50 that I hit twice per week. I've been excercising a lot more lately to try and increase my endurance, but sometimes the heat is unbeatable.

    Blisters

I used to use athletic wraps for my blisters. But now my hands are immune to them I guess. Because I haven't gotten one in awhile.
  8. He did make over 100k in one of the mini tours from what I've heard. Add sponsorships and no entry fees, and he's probably making a decent living....playing golf.
  9. If you are just hacking away at 100 balls per day, I can't say that's a good thing. Practice is suppose to have a purpose. Just swinging the club won't do anything but possibly ingrain bad habits. Make a routine for yourself. Practice 1/2,3/4 shots. Practice on a hitting a certain taget with each club etc.. Also mats are bad.

    Pain in Thumb

Only way to know for sure is to go to a doctor.

    Pain in Thumb

You are supposed to hinge your wrists on the backswing. The soreness is probably just from overuse, especially if you're not used to it. Take a few days off and let it heal, the tendons will strengthen and you will be able to play without pain.
  12. MMA, Basketball, Football in that order.

    mma -- july 19!

What a great weekend for the MMA fan! I watched both (at the same time) because I'm a nut. I really enjoyed Arlovski's fight and also the emabarassment of Tim Silvya. Anderson is an animal, and I want him to see go toe to toe with Wanderlei or Chuck. Both would be wars. Too bad Affliction lost a buttload of money, but hopefully the UFC snags those fighters up quick. If Fedor never fights for the UFC it will tarnish his legacy forever.
  14. Whoa whoa Iacas, Kenny G has game! lol In all seriousness though, I don't see anything wrong with challenging yourself. Even if she doesn't make the cut, a lot of people will be tuning in to watch her succeed or fail. It's a win-win situation for her. If she gets cut, she wasn't supposed to be able to compete anyway. If she makes it, then she will get even more publicity than ever.
  15. I think having a shaft too stiff would cause you to have a lower ball flight as well. Making it harder to get the ball up in the air. I would also assume that slices will become more prevelant because you won't be able to squre the clubface on impact consistently.
  16. I use the 3dx Ironwoods (hybrids) and I love them. Super easy to hit and get up in the air. Little shorter on distance than I would like, but accuracy and ball flight is perfect.
  17. No I didn't miss that part Iacas :P , it was part of my point. He CAN use the club. He just chose not too. The potential of affecting the tournament was there. Not so with the missing signature. At least not in a professional golf tournament. I'm actually a stickler for rules, even when no one's looking. I see the valid argument of why the rule is in place, thanks for the great post worst_shot_ever. But I still stand by "the punishment should fit the crime" thinking. So we'll just agree to disagree on this topic.
  18. Completely different. Him carrying an extra club CAN have an affect on the outcome of his score or the tournament itself. However, Michelle signing her card a few yards outside of the scorers tent has absolutely no impact on the game whatsoever. I understand rules are rules, and she's a professional and should know better. But rules should also make sense. And the punishment should fit the crime. In this case it does not.
  19. I don't know how you guys can play more than 18 holes in one day. I'm arm weary by the 15th. I must be getting old lol. That or the 110degree heat makes it hard.
  20. There's a lot of stupid rules in golf. This is one of them. I don't see the point of DQ'ing someone when it doesn't directly affect the outcome of the tournament (i.e. cheating, modifying clubs beyond allowable specs, etc..) I understand that attesting to your score is very important, but people do make mistakes and the infraction does not fit the penalty. If anything, fine her. Don't DQ her best showing of the year.
  21. Don't know any "layaway" type stores. But you can demo different clubs for a monthly fee. Good for club ho's :) http://www.golfclubdemo.com/
  22. Ready golf most of the time. But fairway rules apply all the time. Furthest away shoots first.
  23. I'm sure that wasn't the first round he's played this week, so he should have known during his practice rounds that he wasn't going to do well. He should have pulled out before the start of Friday's round and let a willing alternate play. Very selfish of him imo. If Tiger can play 91 holes on one leg, he should have at least finished the round with a couple tingly fingers. Pathetic excuse. R&A; should revoke his exemption.
  24. I think you made a great choice. Using "harder" clubs forces you to learn how to it solid and in the right spot. Game improvement clubs do make it easier and still fly the ball well, but it won't really improve your ball striking like a player's club will. I'm debating on getting the MP-60's myself. Just have to convince the woman that my old ones "don't work anymore" lol
  25. Only time I switch brand of balls is when I lose all of my regulars. Which happens more often than it should
