I screamed at one of my clubs last week (my pitching wedge). I said, and I quote, "you are a stupid club and I hate you!". We have since buried the hatchet and are now friends again.

Driver Suggestions? Not interested in working the ball.
Bump-n-MI replied to tws1098's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
...never heard of a course with only (3) par 3's …. -
You either have a ridiculously fast swing speed or you are de-lofting the hell out of your clubs….my guess is the latter.

So, you have financial backing to supplement your current occupation, correct? What about the additional costs for greens fees, tournament entries, travel, swing coach(s), equipment, etc…? Your chances are slim to none that you will ever make a dime playing professionally………but, to quote the classic Dumb and Dumber: Lloyd : What do you think the chances are of a guy like you and a girl like me... ending up together? Mary : Well, Lloyd, that's difficult to say. I mean, we don't really... Lloyd : Hit me with it! Just give it to me straight! I came a long way just to see you, Mary. The least you can do is level with me. What are my chances? Mary : Not good. Lloyd : You mean, not good like one out of a hundred? Mary : I'd say more like one out of a million. [pause] Lloyd : So you're telling me there's a chance... *YEAH!* So what do you have to lose (except 3 years in corporate America and a jumpstart on retirement and possibly a job being available to a 29 yr old lawyer with no experience)?

Several years ago I was in the opposite position. My natural shot shape was a draw….and I overcooked it often. I did what I needed to do to start playing a fade. My misses are now less severe and my fairway % has increased. Nothing wrong with a fade...

75 (37 - 38). Was driving the ball beautifully all day and hit plenty of good approach shots. Short game was non-existent (I actually skulled 2 short chip shots). 32 putts 12 Greens 11 Fairways 3 Birdies 10 Pars 4 Bogies 1 Dbl bogie

scotty cameron vs nike method putter
Bump-n-MI replied to kevinbomb123's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Sounds like you have already decided against the Nike....so there is your answer. -
Man is he a great actor! I kid....I kid...(but not really). Not surprising to me. Bottom line is he just needs to hit the dam ball!

Pics from Florida in February. I'm 5'11 and get dwarfed by my buddy with the flair hair. He is one hell of a stick though (me on the left). On my tip-toes (man I feel short) Last one.

If your 2nd shot does not find the dance floor and you still average 1.83 putts per green then you need just as much work on your chipping and putting as you do ballstriking.

Some Nice Spikeless Shoes - Skechers
Bump-n-MI replied to iacas's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Guess I'm not fully convinced that spikeless shoes will perform as well as traditional plastic spikes (probably because I have not tried them yet ). They do look comfortable though. -
Didn't read that one but…o.k. Well, I can say that I've had that impression (thus my original post) and no, its not the other way around for me. Perhaps we are reading different things. I've played with hundreds (if not thousands) of people spanning over 30 years and it seems everybody has the same excuse as to why their HDCP is where it is….deficiencies in their short game and putting. Like I said it is rare for me to hear or read that ballstriking is the issue. Sure, ball striking is part of the equation.

Odd predicament, need help choosing putter
Bump-n-MI replied to rynjwssl's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Back to the OP. Are you serious? You are asking us if you should use a club that will lower your scores Sounds like you will be scratch in no time -
How many times have we heard on this forum "I'm a good iron player but can't putt and/or have a terrible short game"? In my 30+ years of golf I have only encountered a handful of people that fit into this very exclusive category and I have yet to play with a mid-range capper who had the ball striking capability and repeatability of a low capper (and yes….I know there are exceptions). Do these people exist---sure…..is it common---absolutely not. Ballstriking, more often then not, has a direct correlation to a persons short game and putting ability. I think too many people convince themselves that they have a high HDCP because their short game sucks or because they putt for s**t. Ballstriking, short game, and putting are obviously major contributors in a persons ability to score….what I'm trying to say you typically do not have one (or two) without the other. ….be honest with yourself when selecting equipment….rant over

Couldn't disagree more. I have never played in ANY club tournament where others did not show proper etiquette and treated it strictly as a social event. There are a few basics that everyone should know prior to entering any tournament…..and talking while someone is hitting a shot is near the top of the list. Back to the OP, this should have been addressed on the course with the individual. I would have asked politely at first then taken more extreme measures if he continued. Perhaps he was the one-in-a-million that did not know what he was doing was wrong?.?.?

Played a quick 9 after work. One of my better ball striking days: 6 fairways and 9 greens with an average proximity to the hole of about 25 feet. 1 birdie, 6 pars, 1 bogie, and 1 awful dbl bogie for a very blah 38 . I spent about an hour on the putting green after the round fudging with this new morphed claw grip I started using.

For me the most consistent green-side chipping method is the 60*. Most will and do say I am crazy. I play the ball back in my stance, hit low liners, and spin the hell out of it. Up-n-down % from last year was over 55% so this method works for me.

I do throw my old 11* Nike driver into play often but these are my primary clubs.

Golf ball has me perplexed...
Bump-n-MI replied to Jay-Bird's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
A super spinney ball is dam near impossible to control on soft / slow greens (and being from the Midwest I'm sure you are playing soft and slow greens). I think it boils down to you playing the ball that is ideal for your current playing conditions. I'll bet that once the greens firm up your results will differ and you will go back to a softer urethane covered ball.
