  1. Lol.....I really was expecting "so they said we tied." THAT would have even been a stretch for me...you should have won, but since they paid them more $$$ they win...What a joke...I would have been furious, but that's just me.
  2. When I was deciding last year, between the Rossa Spider, and the Ping Anser 4 I really liked the spider, but it did feel a little light for being so big, but it really made me feel like I was putting in the perfect arc.
  3. Our varsity players (Every player on the squad) used to shoot 70-76 in tournaments...."lucky 36" is probably not accurate :)
  4. Any thoughts on mine?
  5. Sorry, didn't add something to my post. When I am playing, whether it be alone (especially alone) or with others, I play by every rule in the book, I just don't enforce other people to play the same way because I'm not that guy.
  6. Congratulations, when I played in high school, my first year I shot a 43, and a 45 (7 and 9 over) and got the 14th (last) spot. Golf was a pretty big deal in my school, with around 100 trying out for 14 spots.
  7. headcover, but sometimes...
  8. Then don't read it. Thanks. At least he didn't single anyone out or lash out with name calling, I think you shouldn't have posted in here if you didn't want to discuss the topic at hand. I don't think he did anything wrong, but, your opinion is the only one that matters right? Apparently we can't have a free conversation here. _________ My view on this topic is that of many of you, if you are out with a group of guys on your weekend off, and you just want to have fun, why does it matter if you move your ball or drop from OB because you don't want to drive all the way back to the tee to hit another (don't give me the, well you should have hit a provisional crap, maybe you didn't know the OB was there). The way you play casual golf calls your character into question? LOL . You are giving way to much credit the the game of golf. (Hey, it's a great game, don't get me wrong). The only way it would make you "less of a person" is if you cheated to win something (be it fame in your group of golfers, "respect" from other golfers, or of course, money/merchandise/etc.) If you payed your money to play the course, and you take a club length from behind trees (yes I've seen people do this when i was randomly paired up) I'm not going to call you on it, because THAT calls my character into question, for being an prick. In the end, if you don't care what your score is at the end, then who cares if you move your ball or "cheat". But if you are going to brag about your round, accept prizes or purses, or hold it over someone that you beat them, then play the game legit, or I'm calling you on it.
  9. Student at the U of MN, aspiring doctor. Work as a nursing assistant.
  10. That is a good technique Stacey, but if his handicap is truly 39, it might be a bit much to think about during the swing. A mistake I think a lot of "higher" handicappers (I don't consider myself a "low" handicapper by any means) make the mistake of trying to think of a thousand different things at impact, which causes them to mishit the ball. If you just commit to the shot, whatever it is, the result will usually be acceptable.
  11. Get a club with 54*+ of loft, and don't think about it, just make a short, controlled swing, and let the club do the work. The problem i see with a lot of people that aren't great at chipping is that they try to help the ball into the air. If you let the loft of the club do the work, and commit to the shot (don't decelerate at the moment of impact) I think you will find yourself hitting higher, more controlled shots. Work at getting the ball flight you want first, then about getting it close to the hole. If that doesn't work, take a 9-iron, and be the guy that hits bump and run shots from anywhere within 15 yards. Nothing to be ashamed of about using the bump and run if you are inside of your opponents consistently.
  12. You will get better playing like that...but you will plateau and not be able to drop your scores any further when you cannot reach some longer par 4's and 5's in 2 or 3.
  13. I'm a 12-13 handicap...but if I shot well, 79 wouldn't be out of the question...
  14. I use a knockdown sandwedge in windy conditions, and yes, when I hit it right, it checks up hard, and it stays low enough I don't need to factor in the wind.
  15. Well if it interferes with the path of the ball that close...it would have to interfere with swing.
  16. You've played golf 6 times and shoot in the 80's? If you can shoot in the 80's, maybe the MX line isn't for you, you could look at the MP line, they give better feel. I am partial to Mizuno on this decision because the Nike's look to big and clunky.
  17. In today's politically correct world, someone needs to still be old school. What ever happened to, if you don't like it, don't listen to him.
  18. Yea He's just a hologram, they put him in there so it looks like someone can beat Tiger.
  19. Just go to Golf Galaxy or similar store and buy a used driver...I got my Launcher COMP pristine condition for $60 all I had to do was regrip it.
  20. The Winn grips feel great for the first 3-4 rounds then they go flat, like an old pillow.
  21. Yes, it's somewhat odd you bought all 3 high lofts. I am in the process of buying 2 new wedges and I am only going to use 54 - 60. I also have an older 56 I carry sometimes. The 2 degree difference is noticeable. I use it for just what you said, to take a full swing from 110 yards with my 54. And to use my 56 or 60 for closer shots like 80 and 40. (Better to use a full swing, more consistent for someone of our handicaps)
  22. Breaking 90 usually makes it an O.K. round for me, as with you, I really dislike shooting in the 90's (I don't know why, it seems like an 86 is worlds better than a 90) But I know I am capable of shooting low 80's and it frustrates me sometimes when I find I'm wasting shots. Not a lot of wasted shots / penalty strokes makes me feel like I had a good round.
  23. Long irons...there's just something about dropping it on the green from 180-210 out that gives you a sense of accomplishment (when it works).
  24. Between the Project X and Dynamic Gold (Both stiff (5.5 / S300)) which would you recommend and why? I am going to buy some new Mizuno's (either 57's or 60's) and want to know what the advantages of each are. Thanks!
  25. I'm torn between the 57 and the 60...have you hit other of those? Just wondering whats the difference..other than it looked like 57 you can get project x 5.5, and the 60 in just dynamic gold. Another question, is the project x that much better than dynamics?
