Only a person who doesn't understand the events of WWII and the Holocaust would say something so ignorant.

I think the marketing was mostly putting Ron Burgundy as the ESPN anchor.

I've never walked out of a movie before, but the closest I came to was when I watched The Scorpion King. The movie was bad, not memorable (I don't even remember the story), and probably had the worst CG animation at the end when they animated The Rock as a scorpion.

I also like passing on advice not just on the course but also some etiquette to beginners. Things like putting your bag towards the next tee when you're on the green, bring your wedges with your putter on approach to the green, yelling fore, etc. I voted no. I've heard guys on the range trying to give unsolicited swing advice to the guy next to them and, frankly, they sounded like an ass. If I was asked about swing advice, I wouldn't mind giving them what I thought but would also include that I'm no professional by any means and would also refer people to TST or Evolvr.

Just one tip you'd pass on to a beginner...?

This^^^ The instance you try to swing hard, you tense up and plenty of bad things happen. -
Saw these NFL sketches on Deadspin drawn by a Pixar artist. Very creative.

I second this. Stay committed to PT exercises even after you're given the all clear to swing a golf club. This would help prevent future injuries.

Hole 12 at Mangilao Golf Club on Guam. It's 165 yards from the white and 188 from the tips. The golf club will get you a certificate if you get a GIR on this hole.

Congratulations! I, too, agree with the 55g shaft

So I'm quoting here and it wasn't automatically indented, but I did notice it doing it before. I didn't think it was a big deal, but I'll double check next time. My apologies. -
And if all teams played in domes with those same loud crowds in KC, Denver, and Green Bay, don't you think the noise would be louder and more raucous that any offense will probably struggle just a little? So if the term "bowl" was overall derived from the shape of the stadium, if you implemented all teams play in domes, then technically there is no bowl. I know they won't change the name of the Super Bowl regardless if it's played in a dome or a open-air stadium. I just wanted to point out a stupid technicality. Either way, for football, I don't think there's enough of these "weather" games to justify a change from bowl to dome. I'll admit, I was watching the Eagles-Lions game this past weekend and I thought it was intriguing to see two teams play in those conditions even though I'm no fan of either team.
-
I think domes will make the term "home-field-advantage" more prevalent, just like the Seahawks and the Saints. Also, if every team played in domes, shouldn't they change the championship game from Super Bowl to Super Dome? The Saints would be PO'd if they had to rename their stadium.

@RFKFREAK I actually got the ProAdvanced Net instead of the Rukk Net in February for indoor use and it worked fairly well for the first couple of months. The design is roughly the same, but not sure about the difference in quality of the net. I did manage to hit a shot that went through the net and hit the wall behind it, but no major damage. Because I had limited space, I was hitting pretty close to the net in one particular area and that's probably why it wore pretty heavily and eventually broke. I called their customer service and they requested pictures of the damaged net as well as any other damages caused and they were able to send me a replacement net in a week. If you were hitting at a decent distance away from the net, I don't think you'd have much of a problem of the net breaking. The longest club I used with this net is a 3 iron and the net recepted it with no problems. If you were hitting indoors, I would still advise putting some type of padding behind it. The only thing is unless you're hitting close to the net (and even then be careful), you definitely can't use your wedges because it's fairly short and your shots will definitely clear the top. Also, there's really no shank protection so just be wary of that. It is a space saver when it's broken down, which is easy to do once you get the hang of it. Unless you make your own home made net or are able to afford the Net Return, this is your next best option. The Rukk Net might have a better quality net, but I really can't provide any merit to that unless you think the higher price may get you better quality. So far, since that little incident, I haven't had problems.

Glad you had a good time. Following Tiger was painstaking and most of the time if you want to get up close, you had to strategically place yourself where the ball will land for the NEXT shot. My first golf event was the 2009 Presidents Cup and I got lucky by going there early and parking myself in front of the driving range grandstand to take some pictures. I've never really shared these pictures but you can look at them at the link below. This was the first day of practice rounds and I'm glad they really didn't enforce the grand stand much because we were able to stand against the rail. The next few days they didn't allow it. 2009 President's Cup I also attended all days for the 2010 US Open and was at the 18th grand stand on the final round when Graeme McDowell holed his putt to win. What was most memorable for me was that towards the end of the round with the final groups coming in, they wouldn't let the spectators leave to use the restroom. They did implement a password for maybe an hour so people can leave and come back, which I took advantage of. When they stopped doing that, a lot of the spectators were chanting after one group putted out, "LET THEM PEE! LET THEM PEE!" The players in that last group were a little dumbfounded and kind of did a confused shrug at what they were hearing and I thought it was hilarious. The next event I'll probably go to is the LPGA event at Lake Merced since it's just down the street from where I live. I can't wait since I haven't been to an LPGA event yet.

I learned to drive on an automatic and then immediately learned how to drive a stick shift because I wanted to drive my dad's car. My wife can't drive manual and I highly doubt she'd grow a desire to learn, but I do miss driving stick every once in a while. IMO, it kept me more alert on the road knowing what the car needs to do based on the road situations. I've rented cars to many Europeans who have asked me if we have any cars with manual transmission. I ended up teaching them how to drive automatic, which you obviously teach in a lot less time that teaching someone how to drive stick shift.

Tiger Sucks and Here is (Not) Why

Let's see. Five wins this season and second in PGA wins total using all the swings above. What, pray tell, is the problem? -
You don't remember John Elway?

All time for me is Frosted Flakes. I also like the seasonal Boo Berry in October.

@Golfingdad I am pretty excited about this game not only because every time FSU plays USC, they put up a good fight - the most memorable was in the 2005 season that almost derailed SC from going to the title game. I don't expect anything less from FSU because I'm sure that team is pissed about losing to SJSU and what better way to prove themselves is to win against USC. I'm not sure how the coaching changes will affect the SC players, but I think the rollercoaster year that they went through would help them prepare for that. Either way, I anticipate a good game on both sides. Go Trojans!

Very close game, but really glad the Niners pulled it off! Go Niners!

Just saw that. It's not official, but if that stands, then Winston is almost a clear cut winner for the Heisman.

iPad Mini and iPad Air and 120 fps
RPMPIRE replied to nevets88's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I think it might be useful for golf pros, especially if they use trackman, GC2, or flightscope. I don't use them so I don't know if the apps for these equipment film swings, but if they did incorporate high speed into the iPad, then the apps could be updated not only to track ball flight but also film the swings - like putting a picture/video to the numbers. For the iPhone 5S, I think the video quality is sufficient enough. I did some videos of my swing with the 5S in high speed and what I liked is that the HD quality was maintained and I didn't see a shaft blur. It's pretty detailed when you slide the bar left and right to see the different positions of the swing and I think it's a pretty good substitute for a Casio considering it's an "everyday use" item. -
His son also died in his last year while still at Philly.
