Whats the longest time you have taken to play 18 holes?
SD-Golfn replied to Stuartmacgregor's topic in Golf Talk
5.5 hours. Mission Trails Golf Course here in San Diego. Won't play there again. They have a reputation for long rounds since they don't enforce pace of play. Too many nice courses around SD to play 5+ hour rounds. I won't play at a course that doesn't enforce pace of play. I love to golf, but I want to get in and out in 4 hours or less. -
Welcome! I'm from the San Diego area myself. BENtSwing32's golf course list pretty much covers San Diego golf. It all depends on how much you want to spend and how far you want to drive. I'd recommend you look into a JC Golf membership. JC Golf owns 7 courses around San Diego, and their membership is a great deal if you plan to golf regularly.

What Does the Average Weekend Golfer Shoot?
SD-Golfn replied to SLeDHeaDDude800's topic in Golf Talk
He may be a good golfer, but that doesn't make him a good instructor. Some people just can't teach. Don't let one bad instructor sour you on taking lessons though. Lessons (from good instructors) will fast-forward your progress considerably. Good luck! -

Sounds like you just got a bad instructor. I've taken 3 lessons in the past and every lesson really helped my game (3 different instructors). I used to have a terrible hook and the instructor fixed my hook after only one lesson. Haven't hooked it since. I'd recommend trying a different instructor. Maybe you'll haven better luck next time. -
Front left: nothing (too hard to reach in pocket with glove on) Front right: ball, couple tees, ball mark tool, coin for marking ball Back left: glove Back right: iPhone (GPS app on it)

I signed up. Not sure what I will tell the gf if I win....

Seven. I get bored playing my home course all the time, so at least once a month I will go play a different course.

I took a lesson today and the instructor asked if he could hit my new 2.0 driver. He hit a half dozen balls and was very impressed with it.

To each his own...

Sunny and 75 degrees. Fortunately that is the temperature here in San Diego most of the year. Ha

Certain websites will offer prices lower then they are supposed to. I know who they are and buy my stuff cheaper on them myself. I don't see any price drops on any of the large golf retailer sites however. Edit: Finally got my 2.0 driver this week and love it.

I wish it would stop. My pool is about to overflow..... -
Working on it now. Trying to get both my sons into golf (15 and 12). Bought them used clubs and am taking them to the course on the weekends. Need to get the younger generation off the video games and into golf.

I play Nike balls but have never tried the RZN. Would love to try them out! If I like them I may have to switch.

Nike VR_S Covert 2.0 3 wood (bought three weeks ago) Nike VR_S Covert 2.0 driver (ordered yesterday). Vokey SM5 56 & 60 degree wedges (will buy on release day). I'll replace my irons in 2015.

I currently use the Covert driver and 3-4 hybrids and love them. I'll be picking up a 3 wood and 5 wood when these 2.0s come out.

Consistently shoot in the mid-90s. In order to do that, I'll have to do the following: 1. Reduce the blow-up holes. These completely kill my scorecard. I need to play more conservative when I hit a bad tee shot. Need to learn to just chip back onto the fairway instead of trying to hit that great saving shot, which usually ends up being another terrible shot.... 2. Fix my hook at the beginning of rounds. I tend to hook the ball the first 3-4 holes until I settle down and get my swing under control. On certain courses I play, hooking the ball the first few holes is a killer. 3. And most important, buy a few lessons from a pro to work on my swing. I'm sure that will help greatly with #1 and #2.

Playing a course on Coronado Island tomorrow. Never played it before so I'll probably shoot low 100s, like I usually do on an unfamiliar course.

Glad you created this thread OP. I was wondering the exact same thing myself this past week. Like you, I've had a lot more golf time because of the holidays, and was hoping to take advantage of it and make some strides with my golf game. Instead of improving, I've played much worse then usual, which has frustrated me. Some good suggestions in this thread.
