  1. A course I used to play on the regular has a hole that is similar: (10, pictured below 500 yd par 5). Have to carry water off the tee, but 2 area of water is roughly 240 to reach off the tee, 310 to carry. I normally would hit 4i, 4i, 9i/Wedge to do the job.
  2. The Big Box stores have muscled out the independent stores around here. For instance, there's a small, independent store about a 1/2 mile from my old office, but there's also a Sports Authority, PGA Tour Superstore and GolfSmith within a mile radius. Overall, I favor Golfsmith.
  3. Online, particularly GolfNow, if it's a spur of the moment round. If I'm planning a round out, like knowing today (Tuesday) we can get out Saturday, I'll call the shop directly.

There's one the next exit up the toll road from my house. It's real cool for team outings, birthdays, or just to get out with a group of friends. It doesn't replace the feel of a real golf course though and at $40/hour, I probably wouldn't recommend it for solo practice.
  5. I'm still an advocate for bringing a US Open or PGA to the Southwest. Our part of the country has fine courses and is an afterthought when it comes to these events. If it's too hot, toss us a bone, like a Ryder or Presidents Cup.
  6. Tiger's record in majors is only rivaled by his epic grudge-holding . Nothing to see here.
  7. I've never been on a buddies trip but I'm doing one in October. Wondering if anyone on here has shipped clubs to the location instead of paying for baggage fees. Also trying to get reviews of services that ship clubs. Any help would be appreciated.
  8. I was B-Fit for Bridgestone B330-S golf balls. 1) Jimmy Walker -12 2) Webb Simpson -10 3) David Toms -11
  9. What's the best public course to play in the Cape Cod area? I'll be there on vacay next week and will need to scratch my itch. I'll be able to move around, but don't want to get lost just to play golf? Any advice will be put to good use.
  10. I want to win a Callaway Big Bertha Driver! Westwood -7 Jimenez -4 Woods -4
  11. A lot of times, an open qualifier is an opportunity to play a premium course that you otherwise would not have the chance to play. Me personally, the risk of embarrassing myself outweighs my desire to play somewhere like Old American (where the local qualifier was around here) or a TPC type course.
  12. Sergio Garcia -4 Angel Cabrera -2 Steve Stricker -1 .....the Wagon has spoken, please continue with your day
  13. This is year 2 for the N. TX Shootout, it was very tame compared to the Nelson (I work 5 min from both)
  14. I use one and I'd definitely recommend using one, especially if you tend to use your wrists a lot during your stroke. At least for me, it helps me in keeping the putter face square.
  15. Shocked of how few mentions were made of the 'man in Red'. However, I'll add in one more for Bubba with Keegan trying to chase him down the backstretch.
  16. I liken Patrick Reed to another athlete that due to a post-game comment created two factions.....we'll call him 'Richard'. We need people on tour like him. He also has a Shooter McGavin type quality to him.
  17. I'd research the business model of TopGolf. (www.topgolf.com) Instead of simulators, it is a heated range with a bar area and the like. For a bay, they charge $40/hour during peak times. Bar area is a normal sized bar so it would be larger than you are imagining. We have 3 of these in the metro area (so far). Seems like a good idea though, especially in the northern areas. Good luck.
  18. I'd say partly cloudy and mid 70s would be ideal. Coincidentally, we had this weather on Saturday......then the next day temps were in the 20s with sleet. Go figure
  19. Masters......close 2nd would be the Open. Any day you can wake up watching major championship golf is good in my books.
  20. In this order: (Played college golf for 2 years) Tournaments/Courses Played Scores Academics (because college golf requires a lot of time management) Swing
  21. Pound for Pound, I give the DFW my vote
  22. Here in the DFW, the average price with no discounts or anything like that is usually about $45-60. I myself utilize GolfNow and other tools to knock the price down. With so many options (for instance within a 10 mi radius of my house, there are at least 8 different public tracks), joining a private club probably won't cross my mind anytime soon.
  23. Zach is not a good example, he looks like a dork always.....but I'm in favor of shorts if for the only reason that it may open up the slim opportunity that a major may come to the Southwest (playing golf in slacks in mid August in Houston/Dallas is not the most comfortable thing)
  24. Give me Ernie's.....always thought it was so smooth yet powerful
  25. On occasion, golfers get into trouble via twitter (looking at you Zinger!), normally for acting as if they are out of touch with the 'common man'. Rarely, do you see 3 gents get in hot water on the same day, though. http://espn.go.com/golf/pgachampionship13/story/_/id/9559921/2013-pga-championship-lee-westwood-apologizes-harsh-twitter-rant http://espn.go.com/golf/pgachampionship13/story/_/id/9557465/2013-pga-championship-jeff-overton-tweets-bitterness-missing-major http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/golf-devil-ball-golf/howard-stern-ian-poulter-brought-together-twitter-idiot-004620897.html While Poulter's wasn't bad at all, Overton comes off as a sniveling kid that's venting about not being invited to the party. Also, the factual inaccuracies and his grand total of ZERO top 10 finishes in majors make his case about as strong as wet toilet tissue.
