Companies you'll never buy clubs from
JMReynolds replied to FlopShotArtist's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
For those dogging on Wilson/Staff's, anyone know what irons were used to win the British Open this year? -
David Duvall is a solid golfer, but from what I saw @ the open, he just doesn't have the mentality to bring himself back once he's hit some bad shots. He had his moments however after that atrocious 1st hole on the 3rd round where he sank a pretty lengthy birdie putt that was quite impressive. I just hope he can get back into it.

Turning right (back) foot IN at address
JMReynolds replied to tribecalledjeff1's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Next time you are @ the range, try putting a ball under the outside edge of your back foot. I read an article where Tom Watson said to try it, so I did, and it turns out it helps your balance a lot and keeps your swingpath more consistent. Get the feel and then you can mirror that feel on the course. Also said to help keep your weight from shifting too much and maintaining a certain center of gravity. Oh whoops, just read, he credited this tip from Mickey Wright. -
He may wear the clothing that is in style within his native country (Medellin, Columbia) if I remember right. Find a quote of where he said anything along the lines of him being "God's gift to women." Your flaming seems to come from a low self-esteem. Maybe you aren't as in shape or as good at golf as he is and maybe we are a bit jealous? Hmm? Get off him. If you are going to bag on him about tight clothing you need to include the other 20-50 guys on tour who wear tighter clothing. KJ Choi had on a pretty tight fitting black shirt today during the final round of the Open, but I don't think appealing to women was even on his mind when he was dressing for the Final Round.

Stick to whatever is comfortable with you; however being versatile to any situation can also help lower your score. In response to your question I do know that KJ Choi plays a left to right ball flight. Assuming that you use a traditional grip try rotating your left hand on the club to the right a wee bit until you can see the top 3 knuckles of your left hand. See what that does to your ball flight.

The 'Official - Unofficial' (British) Open Championship thread
JMReynolds replied to Anand's topic in Tour Talk
The play by the 20 year old Amatuer Wood was impressive as well. When Anythony Kim gets that putter under control he's going to be a monster in the near future. Leading the field in GiR, just amazing. -
She's absolutely beautiful in person, and was so appreciative of me just showing her where the Aleve was located on the shelf. She was EXTREMELY nice. I was kind of surprised tbh.
-
That's good to know, I appreciate you straightening me out with that. Didn't mean to offend any cross-handed putters on the boards by saying it was bad technique. I was misinformed.

MacGregor NVG2 -- I don't think I could ever get rid of it.

I normally just sport some polo shorts with any one of the numerous polos in the closet. Black DryJoy shoes with a black belt, and like mid height Footjoy socks. Shirt ALWAYS tucked in though. Always good to look professional on the golf course even if you aren't amazing.

I posted this in another thread, and it was HUGE factor in making my sand shots exponentially more accurate and consistant. Just put more weight on your front foot. For some reason it makes you drive the club down on the bull projecting it up and out and it works in green side bunkers or in fairway bunkers. It's quite the tip and by God I'm glad I read that article. It seriously is the difference between going up and down out of the bunker to save par, and 2 putting after getting out of the bunker and bogeying.
-
I had a friend who had that problem and he damn near tried just about everything, what he did was just putt cross-handed. I know it's not good technique, but you've got to try something =] Give that a try since nothing else is working. It's going to seem really uncomfortable, but it may work for ya. Let me know if that helps.

Not really an unaffordable dream car, but mine was a 2004 Pontiac GTO (1st year they re-released them). Then I bought one, a year later I ended up selling it. It's hard to keep your foot out of the gas pedal when you've got all those horses, and it was just drinking gas. Was the sadest day of my life, but in turn selling that car and getting a more fuel efficient vehicle led to the purchase of my complete new set of clubs =]

Fairway Bunkers - I can't get out of them!
JMReynolds replied to DJYoshi's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Another tip I just read in Golf Digest a month or so again is to displace more weight on your front foot. Tried it today on a course (just dropped a ball in a bunker for giggles and tried it) and the ball came out clean almost as if I had hit it out of the fairway, had to club down just a wee bit, but just a nice smoth swing and it had plenty of distance and excellent ball flight. -
Chipping consistency is terrible, HELP!
JMReynolds replied to CosmosMpower's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Making sure you are accelerating through the ball is a key part as well, I had a problem with deceleration on my SW shots and i was hitting everything off the hozzle and it was going just straight out to the right, quite possibly the ugliest thing I've ever seen. -

Good looking irons for mid/high handicap?
JMReynolds replied to pkeno's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
http://www.golfreview.com/cat/irons/...2_2940crx.aspx I play Cobra IH 3100s and they are the most forgiving set of irons I've ever played. I had Ping Eye2s before and a set of old school Wilson's before that. Best thing to do is find a local golf shop that have the right equipment (such as the ball monitoring and all of that non-sence) and spend some time there with an employee swinging into the net or virtual reality screen to see what feels best for you. My local shop fit the clubs to my swing for free when I was picking out a new set after graduating High School. Hope this helps, GL. -
I had this problem when I was in High School doing my 1st tryout. Over analyzing situations gets you into a lot of trouble. Great advice also in this post; maintain the same pre-shot routine regardless of the situation, you'll find yourself with more GIR and Fairways hit off the tee box, leading to those lower scoring rounds you desire =]
