  2. Last year at my company golf outing that had 2 deep shotgun starts as we had so many people. On the 3rd hole that had to have a sponsor table at it I had a wicked tee shot so wanted to take a provisional and did not have a ball so a guy in my group gave me one. Yea it was an exploding powder filled ball. It did not feel odd at all. I did not expect it at all. That thing busted in to a huge cloud of white dust. Oh yea it was in front of about 20 people as well....
  3. I looked back and only see something on a gel putter. I would like to know if anybody has ever used or even seen a Jade Putter in person??? I love to have at least on thing in my bag that is odd so I get the "what the Hell is that" question... SO let me know if anyone has used this thing as I am thinking of getting one. Also let me know if you have some odd equipment in your bag at all and if so what is it. check the Jade unit out here and let me now what you think as I am on the fence. http://www.jadeputters.com/
  4. For $55.00 on a weekend Totteridge is very nice....Some killer bunkers there.....
  5. Yea that is just too odd..... that is some crazy luck...
  6. I would be all in on this but the wife will still not let me get a smart phone. Still rocking a flip phone. And yes I get my ball busted by everyone for this....lol
  7. I will jump in on this. I will get a new golfer going this year and it will be a hard one. Going to get the wife out there. She hates when I golf so this will be good. I hope to have her out this weekend with me at the range for a workout. Lets get this started.....
  8. I would use my driver. I am pretty straight with it and I feel on a hole like that I would be in a good spot to hit the green in 2. I think it is the up hill that really must make this a killer if you do not get hold of the ball off the tee.
  9. nothing set in stone. You can tip what ever you want. I have only played with a caddie 2 times. The courses were well over $100 and then + the caddie fee. I tipped $80 my self. I think that is fair.
  10. Yea sounds like we all want to lay some sod on the Utah salt flats and have all the holes be about 140 yards with 15 cups.... LOL
  11. Yea a caddie will be a huge help to you. Listen to the advice from caddie and ask good questions. It will really help your game. Do not for get to tip well...
  12. I play golf with a guy that has hit every brand driver out there and a Maxfli is the only one he can hit straight. I think that is a bit funny but I am not kidding.. do not know why but this is true.
  13. Well if I could not I would miss it but life has to go on and it would on to the next thing for me. I would find something.
  14. Just today I bought 2 pair of shorts and 3 shirts. I love buying golf apparel. I shop like a woman for that stuff I like to have something new all the time....
  15. I would not take the chance on that one. Just me....
  16. Island greens. I do not know why but I always toss one in the water on the first shot. I think they just play head games with me a first.
  17. I am not that good yet where a $4 golf ball will help my game. Also this is the first year I chose to use Yellow balls. This decision was made due to the past few years here in PA the courses stayed lush all year and the grass did not grow slower in the summers due to all the rain. Lots of the courses around here use a Kentucky blue grass mix and you can not mow that as low so I was losing way too many balls. Out of all the yellow balls I have tried for less then $30 a box I like the Golfsmith MacGregor tourney yellow. Golfsmith owns that brand name. I love this ball. Only other ball I have in my bag right now is the Srixon Q-star tour yellow. That is a nice ball as well.
  18. I have prescription Oakley sunglasses. Reason, I like them is you can change the lenses. Not cheap at all that they are all prescription but you have to do what you have to do. I have clear, yellow and the darkest they make. All for depending on how the sun is that day. I love them. I actually I wear them all the time as my normal glasses with the clear or the yellow I love them that much.
  19. I know one thing it is getting very hard to get permits to build a new course these days in the area I live in. Lots of farm acts and the Chesapeake bay thing with all the land run off issues. So I really do not see any new one popping up in the future. The issue is with a golf course is you can only put the tee times so close together and then you are maxed on the amount of paying people so only other way to make money is to up costs to play and cut cost on up keep. So I see golf being in a real pinch in the Future. For the sport it is great to attract new players but for a course when they are full they are full. I think one thing courses could do is try to look at tee boxes and make more options for players that are just starting out like Jr. tees and good womens tee options so the wife does not got all worked up hitting 6000 yards per round.
  20. It is part of what is called the Raspberry Trail that is a bunch of high end courses in VA, MA and PA. Penn National is in that as well but I think they are under different owner ship. If you ever get to PA you have to play it.
  21. Iron Valley in PA is one hot course..... Love that place. Great mix of open links on the front 9 and then the deep woods on the back 9. It is the best of both worlds.
  22. What is your take on Par 3 courses for practice? Do you play them for a short game work out at all? And if yes tell us why and if not tell us why as well. For me I do use them. I fit them in from time to time as a last min thing. On days I do not have a tee time set and I get the bug to get out there I like to hit them up. I feel that they really give me time to dial it in. The one that is closest to my house has every hazard you would run into on a normal course. They have a hole with a full 100 yard water carry shot to the green. They have holes that you are hitting up a hill about 30 feet in elevation to the green and then back down. I love the hole that goes back down a you can not go long as there is a stream that wraps the back of the green. Lost of tree roots on some holes with low tree branches for those low punch shots right from the chip area. I get to work on all my short shots I just love it. I think it is a huge help for my game to work out on a good par 3 course. just list your take on them and if you do play them for a short game workout.
  23. Golf was to be a sport of gentlemen and women these days. Guess those days are gone and thugs are every where....
