  1. I got the Niki VR 420 cc driver with the PX 6.0 shaft and love it.
  2. Since I have a very low "pH factor", (perfect human) I more than likely would have said, "please return my ball b/c I don't think you'd like it if I accomadated you on that". I don't think I would hit the guy, but I would have gone thru his bag. Hey, but that is just me and as I said, my pH factor is low. Also being a Vietnam vet I still have a good amount of angst that doesn't take much to ignite.
  3. Combo sets mostly change from cb's to mb's at the 8i, some set spit at the 7i. IMO the most important thing is to make sure the lofts stay in the same sequence regardless of brand. I have done a combo set of mp 60's 3-7i and 32's 8-pw and I have been very happy with that. On a side note, I've been a die hard mb fan; but I am more consistent and a little longer with cb's in my long irons. I'll put my long iron mb's back in the bag when I'm play'n good cuz I think they are fun to play--as long as I'm play'n well. When I'm not the 3 & 4i are cb's.
  4. I perfer a range finder and think it is much more versatile than a GPS unit.
  5. I demo'd one, but it was a 13*, I like strong 3 woods. The club got the ball right up with a nice high trajectory for me, but I'm a high ball hitters to begin with. Distance was very good and almost as long as my 12.5* 3 wood. This isn't a good fw wood for a high hc'er; I didn't find it that forgiving, but performed very well with hits on the sweet spot. I'm not sure what you mean by "effectiveness of adjustability".
  6. IMO Taylormade Taylor, 2nd post, hit he nail on the head.
  7. I spine all of my shafts. If I buy from Golfsmith I'll have them SST/pure it for 10 bux more. IMO you don't really notice any difference until you get a pretty consistent golf swing and what I saw was a tighter dispersion pattern.
  8. This year I'm look'n to get MP 68's 5-pw and 62's in 3 & 4i.
  9. I'd have to go with what bblouser88 said. What shaft works best for you depends on you swing speed and tempo. Many ppl assume that what works good for their buddy will work good for them, which isn't necessarally ture.
  10. I'm going to step out of charactor here and actually be serious. I really encourage you to continue that with your son. I say this b/c I didn't have a very close relationship with my father. We just seemed to piss each other off; when he wanted to apolgize I was a butt head and when I wanted to aplogize he was a butt head. We never seemed to reach an understanding with one another. At the time it didn't bother me, now it does. Unfortunetly its all history now b/c my father passed away in the mid 90's. As we all know, hind sight is 20/20. Rasing progeny is the most difficult, time consuming and most important thing you will do in your entire life. We have more than enough Wiskey Tango's out there, so please, please, please parents take you job as a parent seriously becuz you are directly influencing the future of our society with how you rasie your kids today. As far as undeveloped brain; physically the brain isn't fully developed until around age 27. Prehaps this is why the Greeks didn't consider anyone full developed and mature until age 30, however they were also androgenous, (little humor there).
  11. LOL, he's from socal. What else would you expect him to say? As far as moving to where it doesn't get below 60*; I don't think so cuz that climate usually attracks way too many fair weather golfers and dweebs. I'll take the over cast of the Northwest thanks.
  12. The hardest thing for me in cold weather is getting used to the "new" distances my clubs generate. I usually loose a club, IOW, it takes a 7i to go what a 8i usually does. After that its pretty funny and keeps me thinking. I'm still not a big fan of play'n when its in the 30's. A week ago it was in the high 30's with a cold east wind at about 15-20 mph. I was dumb founded b/c it took my 12.5* 3 metal, choked all the way down to hit a 210 yd shot. I can get 240 off of the deck with this club, but not on that day.
  13. Yes, my distances are a little longer now and I feel more comfortable with this driver, hence I tend to be more accurate. My other driver is a 460 cc MacGregor 9* NVG tour driver with a Stultz stiff shaft that I've tipped ~1/4".
  14. Driver/woods Niki Titleist MacGregor NVG for woods Hybrids Nicket Adams Irons Mizuno Mirua Wedges Niki Edilon Putter whatever works best, right now its a very old Bullseye.
  15. That is a very good price for good irons. I liked the design of J 33's, however they were too "clicky" for me. That isn't to say that they aren't a good iron b/c they are, just didn't fit nicely into my "feel" catagory. I'm a Mizuno fan so I think that explains the "feel" thing.
  16. I have the VR 420 cc head with the PX 6.0 shaft and this baby will not be leaving my bag anytime soon.
  17. I'd ask the same question a couple of others have, "whats wrong with TM's"? I like Mizuno better, but there is nothing wrong with TM. In short get the irons you like best. Some things to consider are, how well you hit them, how well they s/u to your eye and how comfortable you are with them. In short, whatever it takes to have confidence over the ball.
  18. I gotta go with the U of O b/c 1) they have everything to gain and nothing to lose, 2) I think they are stick and tired of hearing how great Cam Nelson is and how tough the SEC is supposed to be, 3) IMO they are a more physical team and very dangerous in the 2nd half b/c of their cardio, 3) I believe they have many more explosive players than U of A, 4) they change up their plays a lot and run them fast, 5) the U of O defense is every bit as good as their offense, but the offense out shadows the defense at present. Either way it should be a very good game, but I'm stay'n with da Ducks---GO DUCKS
  19. LOL, so you have finally seen the lite. Pretty much all high and mid hc'ers can't spin the ball back b/c they aren't good ball strikers, plane & simple. They also don't have much of a concept of what chipping & pitching is, not to mention how many times do you see high & mid hc'ers practicing they short game?--they are usually on the driving range trying to hit their driver, which they do equally as bad. In the summer I like a soft tour level ball; last year it was the Niki tour--I buy the most inexpensive close out tour level ball. In the winter I like Laddy Xtrems b/c they are soft I get close to my summer time distances plus in the winter the greens are generally so receptive I can stick them with a 3i. When I'm play'n a tourney then I'll break down a buy a sleeve of Bridgestone e6+'s. For the life of me I can't understand why ppl play a tour level ball during the winter. Basically, if you want distance than a mid or low level ball is usually better. If you're more interested in checking the ball on the green, then a tour level ball.
  20. I usually do pretty good the first time at most any course b/c when I don't know a course I play to the 150 yd marker and I play within myself.
  21. I like your thoughts and I too learned how to golf, but was 11 when I started at a country club in SLC. We were also taught etiquette and would get kicked off of the course if we didn't rack bunkers after the shot, replace divots, etc. However with todays "entitlement" mentality I don't see that happening. I really hope I'm wrong on this, but I've seen just too many butt heads out there chase'n the without a clue. LOL and then they have to audasity to get upset when they can't play like the pro's on TV--what a bunch of maroons.
  22. Having been a die hard skiier winter was never long enough. Now, I still like snow, but only in the mountains.
  23. I generally play better in bad conditions b/c I'm thinking more and stay in the moment better and just play shots I know I can pull off. I also like the pressure of money games cuz it keeps my head in the game, and as above, I pretty much stick with shots I know I can make.
  24. I'ver resigned myself to slow play. A good round here in Portland Or is 4.0-4.5 hrs, but most of the time more like 5 hrs or more during regular season; its better in shoulder and off season. Unfortunetly it takes a lot for the golf course management to forcefully speed ppl up b/c they are viewed as revenue and gee they don't want to offend anyone, even if they are being total A holes. I'd like to see it like it was in the old days. One way used to be if you weren't a 12 hc or less there were some courses that you weren't allowed to play on; (I saw this where there were 2 courses, 36 hole facility. So 1 course was open to the general public). The other way was the slow group would get a verbal warning the first 2 times. If they continued to be slow then they had to tee off from the 150 yd marker. However I don't think anything will happen in this age of political correctness.
  25. Occasionally I'll drink a beer on the course, but if I'm going to drink I fill up my metal flask with Johnny Walker, black lable. I haven't noticed that it has really affected my game, but then again I don't drink large amounts either; may be half of the flask per round---and I do share. There are some guys in the Mens club I'm in that actually get better the more they drink. I've seen 2 down a fifth of scotch and working on another one and just lighting the course up. It was on a RTJ jr championship course here in Portland Or.
