My favorite of the majors is the British Open, but I'd like to see some different courses added to the "rotation" Royal Portrush--The Open has been played only once outside England or Scotland (Royal Portrush 1951). I'd say it's overdue for a return to N. Ireland If not Royal Portrush, then Royal County Down. Royal Porthcawl--spread the wealth some more. Wales has never hosted The Open Any others you all might want to see host the Open?

Clubs you just won't let out of the bag
uttexas replied to trackster's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Over the past ten years, I've changed my driver a couple of times and my wedges once, but I don't see my Adams A2OS 3+4 hybrids ever leaving my bag. So easy to hit well. -
Newspapers have been going out of business or downsizing over the past 25 years, so, the seriously important sports journalists have scrounged for other forms of income. These joyless windbag "opinion makers" have now reached critical mass on television and internet media sites. Thankfully, we have other options that have become more and more available--Local radio broadcasts of sports events, twitter, and niche websites/chatrooms.

You've got good clubs. Go ahead and get a quality push cart--you'll have more energy at the end of rounds( particularly on hot days and hilly courses) and you might save your back potential future issues

If the hypothetical 16yo has not seen or heard of golf, I imagine someone that has grown up in an environment without television or newspapers (Tiger Woods, I believe, is the world's most known athlete) I imagine one of those remote tribes in the deep Amazon without contact with the outside world. His or her frame of reference would be hitting a round piece of rubber or a round nut with a tree branch. A really good stick striker could maybe hit the round object 30 yards. If 100% accurate, the hypothetical "golfer" would take fifteen strokes to go 450 yards on a smooth playing surface with no obstacles.. Double the fifteen to thirty to account for less accuracy (average golfer), then add ten for avoiding obstacles/miss hits/getting out of hazards (average golfer)

On a similar 14 clubs one company thread a couple of years ago, I chose PING; but, now that Adams has acquired Yes!, I'd choose Adams. Great drivers, superior FW and hybrid technology, love the MB2 irons and wedges. Adams is part of TM, so I'd play with the Penta or TP Black.

Agree. Mark Cuban summarizes the Skip Bayless/ Feinstein approach really well in this interview.

1st question: If Tiger ties Nicklaus in pro majors it would be enough to be considered the best ever with or without Olympic Gold--Tiger already has more amateur majors and pro wins. 2nd question: Olympic Golf gold in golf would rank somewhere after the Players and World Tour Championship and ahead of the NCAA individual title.

The pros are really good at "dropping" the ball, almost as if they practice it. I liked the pre 1984 rule (drop the ball behind your shoulder.) Here's Seve dropping over the shoulder (at the 4:50 mark) for the famous parking lot shot at the '79 Open

Two years ago, I played a really hilly golf course in 105 degree heat using a push cart. The water stations were few and far between and I started getting severe leg cramps on the 16th--calves going into spasm. I was in some real pain and putted out of turn on the 18th green so I could rush to the club house for hydration; still feel terrible about how I finished the round.

When I first moved to America, I lived in Connecticut, so I'm a Patriots fan--that '86 Superbowl was tough to watch, but didn't compare to anguish induced by David Tyree's facemask catch. Always root for the Saints unless they are playing New England. I was in New Orleans New Years 1987. The town was electric with excitement, football fans everywhere with Saints shirts on singing "who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints". The Auburn Tigers were in the Sugar Bowl January 1st and the Saints were playing the Vikings in the Superdome January 3rd. Football fans everywhere singing and chanting fight songs. I'd been in DFW four years and had never seen anything approximating that kind of fan support and spirit.

Best first post, ever.

I like your comedic style and delivery.

Swing plane/path can be better seen on the DTL. He is turning his shoulders steeper on the back swing; his shoulder turn is now more parallel with his swing plane and getting his hands deeper at the top. He doesn't drop the club down as much from the top and he isn't rolling/flipping his wrists as much through impact, and with my eyes, I see he is teeing the ball further forward in his stance--resulting in more consistency and hitting more slight fades. This year he's driving the ball better than he ever has. Old swing New swing

With his current swing, his left knee stays in flexion longer. With his Harmon/Haney swing he violently snapped his left knee straight going into impact. There are several reasons he is able to maintain flexion longer now--he's getting his hips further forward combined with less closed shoulders in the downsing; thus he doesn't have to snap his left knee and spin his hips while thrusting his head back to generate secondary axis tilt and save from "getting stuck" Old swing Current swing

The Nickent 4DX Evolver Driver for $35 from rockbottomgolf.com so I would have $85 left over to spend on golf balls and a round or two of golf.

Lime Cucumber Gatorade is the best. There's a few stores here that carry it regularly.

Tiger knows the layout and the greens; typically a great combination for him. Top 5 finish.

What's the hottest weather you've ever golfed in?
uttexas replied to divot dave's topic in Golf Talk
Fifteen years ago, I walked, carrying my bag in 109 degree heat. I was the only person on the golf course. The pro shop guy recommended that I not go out there, but it was the only day I could play golf that week. No way would I do that now. I'll still play on a hot day, but tee off early in the am to finish before it gets over 100 (I use a push cart now) -
I'm really liking your swing improvements. How is it translating into your golf scores? The main things I'm seeing is that your upper body and head shift backwards in the back swing and you aren't thrusting your pelvis up at impact. See how Hogan's head turns, instead of shifts in the backswing and his belt buckle points more toward the sky at impact and follow through.

UT won the team NCAA this year. If Spieth maintains his amateur status and stays at Texas, we could be in for a nice run of team/individual championships similar to or surpassing the Kite/Crenshaw early 70s.
