Who else is injured right now and addicted to golf?
CoachB25 replied to Valleygolfer's topic in Golf Talk
tcnbtx, thanks for that post. I have heard from a very close friend that I will be so glad that I got it done. I have to coach softball this spring and so, can't get it done at Christmas though my Doctor tells me I can't wait. I can't let the girls down and so, will do what I have to do to make it through this upcoming season. I can't get it done in the Summer. -
Who else is injured right now and addicted to golf?
CoachB25 replied to Valleygolfer's topic in Golf Talk
I have to have my right hip replaced and they want to do it at Christmas. I just can't do it. I played this year but in some severe pain. I simply can't finish and so, have over compensated on my swing. I am kind of blocking it but hitting a draw like you can't imagine. I have gained major distance. My 7 iron has always been about 150 to 155. Now, it is 165 to 170. However, after a swing, I have to get to the cart. THE CART! I don't believe in using a cart and always walk. Even in scrambles, about half of the time, I go ahead and walk if the flow of the scramble allows for it. I'm 58 and this injury happened 3 years ago in a scramble. I always go last because I can hit it pretty good. I tagged one and then felt a very shape pain. In fact, it pretty much brought me to tears. I've never been the same. Now, the Doctor says there is so much arthritis building that I have to get it fixed. I'm now to the point that I can't go up or down a set of stairs so ... -
Gunter, without me saying too much, believe me, I know! I could tell you a couple of horror stories but they are better left in the past.

Regardless, I would not be in favor of any watch list that singles out anyone based upon race, religion, ... I do like Carson's idea of a data base on everyone that comes into the country to enable us to track them. Though we are supposed to have something to that effect, it is not uncommon for someone that has come to America to overstay their Visa.

golfingdad, how is it "in the affirmative" when he says we have to do something, he didn't say that he agreed with the reporter. Had he said "yes" or something similar, to me, that is the affirmative. That didn't happen and Trump did "tweet" out that he did not say he agree to that statement. To me, that is definitely not agreeing in the affirmative. Again, anyone here that watched the CBS Evening News saw both quotes from the reporter and Trump. Edited to add: I find this somewhat awkward defending Trump since I am not a Trump guy. LOL
-
I just saw on CBS the Trump issue. CBS also showed the exact quotes. Trump never said he would have a data base for Muslims. He said that a reporter said that and, sure enough, it was a reporter that said that. Trump never did. When asked about actions, the reporter suggested if Trump would create a data base and Trump said that we were going to have to do something. Again, CBS and not Fox.

Having read much of this thread, it appears to me that the majority of those participating are from the east and west coast. In discussions on other boards and here, it is also apparent to me that there is a great difference between those in the fly over states and the coast. While I live in the blue state of Illinois, remove Chicago and we'd be red. My county is red all the way. Cruz and Rubio are gaining support in my area. Trump seems to be waning.

This was not my shot but I wanted to mention a shot one of my girls made on the golf team. We were playing at a course with a lot of trees and water. For my team, not good. My #4 is sitting in jail. Not much to offer unless she hit the ball backwards. Water in front and tree canopy. She looks up and sees one hole in the canopy and says to me that she can hit the ball through that hole. Keep in mind that this is my #4. This is an impossible shot. I don't make them play as I want and let them play the game, make decisions on their own etc. I do give advice if they ask. She looks at me and asked what I would do. I told her backwards and play for bogey at best. She tells me she can go through that canopy. So, I tell her commit to the shot and do it then. She swings and that ball went through that very small hole in the canopy. Parents and opponents are all cheering for her (This girl has been voted most enjoyable to play a round with by the girls in our area.) as that ball goes through. As she swings, she cries out "Carpe Diem." We are so excited UNTIL we hear the pop of a tree. She has hit a tree beyond the green, the ball rolled back across the green and into the water. LOL Still, she walked around as proud as could be because she put that ball through that small hole in the canopy.

So, when you sit back and think of "that one shot" that was the greatest shot of your life, what was it? My boss is a pretty serious scramble player. (4 man scramble) His brother was ill and so, I was asked to fill in on his team. We were up and down for the round as scrambles go and so, I started feeling the heat to produce. We were on a Par 5 Dog Leg left that can only be described as narrow. I was hitting last and so, typically the leadoff put one in the fairway so the rest of us could blast away. The first 3 went OB. I hit a 3 wood and caught it pretty good but we were behind a tree that is the Midwest version of a giant redwood. LOL #1 pitched out. The rest did as well but we really didn't have any great options. I took my 3 wood out again and lined up my shot. My Boss wanted to know if I was crazy. I told him we were on the green and that he didn't know it. I told him I was going to draw one around that tree and with that draw, down hill run and some luck we were going to be putting. At the same time, inwardly, I knew I was about to make a fool of myself it I hit that tree. I still dream about that shot. It is the single greatest shot I have ever made. How about you?

I typically buy new and run them until they fall apart or I get in a wreck. I've been hit so many times it isn't funny. Two Camaro and two Saturn Cars have been totaled. I really believed in buying Saturn Cars after my first crash. I don't know how I lived. The second one was worse. They had to helicopter the driver of the Van to the hospital and though I was hurt, I wasn't hurt as badly as that guy. I presently have a 2007 All Wheel Drive Saturn Vue. I have run it into the ground driving my family/daughter all over the country to play softball both in Travel Ball and Collegiality. It has 135,000 on it and we are now starting to have to have it in the shop. I will buy a new Jeep Grand Cherokee for my next car. It will be the exact car I want and I will own it for 7 or 8 years. I expect to buy that car in the Spring.

Yes, this is what is done when my HS plays a tournament on this course.

I am not as well versed in the rule citations but I thought that in the case you can't determine the OB line, you are to seek out the first two established makers between the ball and potential OB. I know we play a course each year where there is an OB inside the course between two holes that golfers used to try to cheat on their drive to gain an advantage on one hole. On that course, it is not uncommon for someone to lift an OB once in a while. So, the guys I play with simply agree to draw that line before play every year. We like the course but hate that local rule/hole layout.
-
This how I had a similar situation ruled. Probably the stake was in play a little more than in OP but wanted a ruling in a tournament. BTW, a number of stakes were "moved" to clean up OB line and some not replaced. It was easy to replace in the correct position after ruling for the following groups to have a cleared course.

Where is the evidence that global warming is man made? BTW, Gore's predictions have been accurate haven't they? What irks me is that schools have that crappola in their curriculum to indoctrinate the masses. I haven't seen that evidence. Please link. If you want to talk about NOAA and NASA then you can realize that they have been ordered to change their statistics. Google it and read on it. Have to take off to drive the car and destroy our future.

One of the most touching scenes was when French citizens, crowed in some small area began singing the La Marseillaise.

I have been trying to talk my AD into allowing me to make a purchase of some instructional DVDs. My coaching buddies all have Jim Hardy's DVDs. They like them. I would have to make a matching or maybe even more donation. We have limited athletic money and I have had to make most purchases for my program for the last 10 years. If you were me, and I coach young ladies that have never swung a club nor even own clubs when I get them, what instructional DVD would you purchase? Edited to add: I like a lot of what we do. However, I seem to have a level of competency that I can't seem to get over. I get two girls to sectional play each year and that is better than aver for my area. This year I got another young lady to state. She was one of two golfers south of Springfield, Ill to get to go in our class if you disregard the one team that advanced. I want to really give my players a better shot at getting our team there and know I have a lot to learn.

First, we are all indoctrinated. The "trick" then is to gain experiences to expand your knowledge. I've coached baseball in the former Soviet Union. I was once offered the head coaching position for baseball on the Island of Aruba. I've been fortunate to be an "adviser" to other countries with regards to baseball. I've traveled with my daughter as she played softball for Team USA (D-II Squad of All Americans) in Italy. To be sure, it is good to see how people of other countries live. Again, it gives perspective. With regards to this horrible event and the image above, I just finished my Social Studies unit on Islam. It is amazing the difference between those who believe in the "Sixth Pillar of Faith" or the Jihad and those that don't. This goes as far back as the death of Muhammad when he did not name a successor. Do not misunderstand the mindset of radicals. They believe that anyone unlike them, and even Muslims, are the enemy and they will kill them. The poor people of Paris happened to be the target this time. One or two extremist can still kill hundreds.

University of Kentucky. Go ahead and bash us. LOL When I was a little kid, my neighbor went on to be the starting point guard for Kentucky. Naturally, being from Kentucky, basketball has always been a big deal. I was a basketball coach for a very long time and so, made it to coaching clinics at the U. of K. BTW spent a few interesting weekends with Bobby Knight as well.

BTW, that is a 1928 Rolls Royce Thunderbolt. This particular car was "missing" for over 40 year when it was discovered again in a barn.

He had 5 Vettes. One was similar. He had just about anything you could imagine. I tried to post pics off of the internet of some others but they wouldn't copy. Here is another car:

I found some pictures of some of the cars I saw:

Interesting Things to Note About the Republican Debate
CoachB25 replied to Pretzel's topic in The Grill Room
I quoted what my Dad said. He can read very basic things. Note the "very basic" part of that sentence. Even with simple things, he gives up fast when it comes to reading. He is not alone in my family. Every application he has filled out for a job, I believe either a cousin who was raised in our home or myself have filled out. Per a Doctor's statement in a hospital, no way. He and my mom were both that way. I have done all of that stuff (reading any important materials) for my parents as long as I can remember. For a very long time I lived in a 10' by 20' shed with 6 others in my family. I know what true poverty looks like. I hope this is not off topic since I or other conservatives were asked to explain what they believe. I am simply providing the reasons I believe that way. -

Interesting Things to Note About the Republican Debate

rkim, I apologize. I don't take comments about "uneducated blue collar workers" lightly. My dad had to drop out of school in 4th grade and really never attended 4th grade. My mom didn't make it much further. Yet, they voted, my dad served this country and somehow made it through without anyone knowing he couldn't read and then somehow raised 3 out of 4 children along the way. We lost one of my sisters. He is my hero. This past week, while in the hospital, he was asked to sign his name to some stuff and he had to admit to the Doctor that he can't read what he was to sign. It really hurt his feelings having to say that.
