What is the most important part of a golf course?
putput replied to Quinn07's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
This is such a true statement, i just moved to Virginia and miss my Washington state beer cart girl, she was a hottie. -
That is amazing!!! i am sure your going to have some great winters down there, man i wish i had a basement now...

I find myself watching these shows when i am sitting down with a drink... I would say i still enjoyed the shell version more then trump's, he is just a little to much for me when i am trying to relax and watch golf. I feel he is a bad commentator, hopefully the ratings show this and he settles down a bit.

Congrats man thats a good accomplishment! I have yet to do it myself, hopefully some year i can say I have. Keep at it and soon you will be breaking 90.

Who was that national driving champion who used to scream like Arnold Swartz lifting weights? He also made his own driver... the HAMMER! We need more of that kind of scream.

Me being a beginner golfer is my biggest issue, i am actually fairly accurate at reading greens and i can almost always get with 20 feet of the whole from 50 yards or in on a good wedge shot. My Tee shots are just atrocious, i am planning on really working on my swing this year, i think my biggest break down is how degraded my swing becomes when it levels out because of how long the driver is.
-
My problem is my driver, I have improved ten fold this off season with my short game, especially my pitching from 50 yards and in but i still can not figure out how to drive the ball straight. If i can ever figure out how to drive my handicap will go down at least 1-2 per hole. Time to go back to the range...

I am also by no means a great driver... but as a beginner if I hit it 200 yard strait I am thrilled. I would rather hit it 200 yards strait then 200+ and it be in someone else’s fair way or in those pesky hazards they seem to like to sneak up on a par 4.

I am really going out on a limb and saying that Tiger is around the 20's. I want to put my money on Ernie Ells, I like the guy and he has been putting on a very good show this year. I also would like to see Jeoff Ogilve do good along with Anthony Kim, but I still think Kim needs a few more seasons under his belt before he will be a good contender for his first Masters. As far as My good friend Phil goes (a fellow lefty heh…) I just don’t think his head is in the game, how badly I wish I could put my money on him but I just don’t see it happening. I am thinking he will be just like TW is right now, in the 20’s, but only because of a awesome short game. I work a lot so I will be extremely happy if I can watch the masters… does anyone know a good website that is broadcasting it? Or at least a very up to date progress report website?

I know i am driving well when i dont have to tee it up... again...

this is the tourny for me!

I wish i had the space and money for something like this... WA gets pretty cold and wet here in the winter, all i want to do is hit a few balls. I might be able to rig something together in the garage to at least hit a few balls, but now the problem is convincing the wife its a good idea... hmm...
-
I also am putting my money on my fellow lefty phil, i think after last years performance, especially his attitude he will be someone to watch out for in 2010. As far as tiger goes, he seems to be very temperamental as of last year, who knows what he will do this year, i don’t think he even knows what he will do.

I am no were close to your HC but… I notice myself some times thinking more of the messed up shot I had made then ways to correct it, or why it happened in the first place. I too get very caught up on a bad shot and I let it carry on to the next hole… then the next and so on. I remind myself every time I make a really bad shot to take another swing from exactly the same spot and just picture what I did wrong and try not to do it again on the next shot. Hope this helps.

Ya know this situation is just to good. if i called to get them i really wouldn’t know what to say to the man.

I think every state hast at least 1 rolling hills golf course... That is the one i am still working on up here in WA, i am not a great golfer so the hills are not rolling for me in the right direction. Welcome to the game of golf, hope you enjoy it!

it would make sense yes... but it was just ridiculous, i was actually getting angry about it because its just seems like a very arrogant and lazy thing to do. BTW off topic... i got these plastic "zero resistance" tee's off of ebay for 4 bucks for 100, i have used the same one for 5 strait rounds, they are great!

So i show up a little early to the LGC and they say they have a spot open earlier then we are supposed to tee off, i am happy with the idea so me and a friend head out to the first tee. I look down and there are at least a dozen broken tee's laying down, first thing i think is "ok the greens keeper are a little slow today" and i tee up and off we go. We get done with the few holes and things are still looking pretty nasty, i am noticing though that allot of the broken tee's seem to be the same type, my assumptions of the green keepers being late are now pointing more towards the players on the field... we make it up to the 7th hole and by now i can not stand it, there had to be at least 20 broken tee's laying ON THE TEE AREA, i could not even tee off with out standing on them it was so bad, i spent a good 10 mins of my time clearing off the areas on all the tee's, not ruining but definitely putting a damper on the day. This is just out right a rant on lazy people. Pick up your damn broken tee's, its heinous when you don't and now other people are left to do it for you, i have to think that your just a nasty person in general if you cant even pick up something you broke yourself. (rant off)

Try clubs in store, puchase online - Right or Wrong?
putput replied to HytrewQasdfg's topic in Golf Talk
I am on a military salary here... not trying to say we don’t get paid but it isn’t the best, so when i buy anything golf that isnt needed right now its always check it out at the store and buy it online. In this economy, the internet buyer is king... -
Hmmm... that gives me an idea, new tv and cable... Though I think GF persuasion is easier then wife persuasion, they can normally see through the BS... Unless i can make "America’s next top model" on HD, i might be pushing my luck.

My course takes three 5 dollar bills! But what I would do to play on a really top notch course, even if do suck, it would be awesome to get out there one day... Allas that kind of money i dont come by.
-
I always get super juiced to play when i watch some amazing wedge shots, something about seeing those difficult pulls to the green just make me wanna go out and play.
-
I don’t really consider being on the golf course practicing per say... i consider practice being on the range, i should have been more specific in the beginning. I would not get off the course because every tee is a little different, every hit is different, the curve of the hill, your lie, everything has a part in how your hitting. In that fact the only real place you really get to have "practice" is on the range were your ground is always level and your always looking at the same lie.
-
Practice is only good if your practicing good habits. I notice some times that if i practice to much i will develop a bad habit when i swing, if i keep doing it i call it a day, i don’t want to get into a bad habit of making the same incorrect swing if i am not able to correct it with in a few balls.
