yea when u cut a shaft down u will loose some yards. u can always get a inch or added back on ur shaft so u didn't ruined it. jus go get some length added on
-
idk bout swinging slower but you can slow down ur back swing and then down swing u can attack it as hard as u want. slower ur back swing easier to get the club in ur back swing be more on plane.
-
go look and demo the new epic and subzero and m1or m2 drivers. those two are the ones i'd suggest looking at. get fitted and find the right shaft for it and ur golden. but honestly i picked up last year's 16 M2 for 80bucks and love it. after liking my m2 so much i'm good on the new 2017 drivers. i can wait till 2018 drivers. and it'll be the 2nd epic model and at the moment the epic drivers are badass so 18 epic and subzero will be even better. plus u can get em without that green color.

only stayed could for maybe a month or two but not cold enough to stop u from playing golf. able to play golf thru the winter. i know some places are jus starting to break out the clubs. good thing I'm in TN. never snows here lol

read something that Callaway will be offering the raw finish and chrome for the new apex mb
-
i've hit them both and got more out of the apex vs the ap2. i have a set of the apex cf16 with projectX LZ in em. shafts are on backorder till end of March so that sucks for me. but i wanna hear from you guys, which one you like better and why? Apex CF16 or AP2 716
-
AP2 718 heard they made it even more forgiving then the 716.
-
when i tried the one length irons out. 7-5i felt like i could really work with it, wedges ate one length, idk bout that. that was the only thing that kinda threw me off, seeing that much loft at that length but im sure anyone who works with a one length shafts for a week could actually do good with them, i do wanna try it out some time
-
get custom fitted, they will make sure your swing is right for the shaft and that club your wanting to buy and you can get better grips then the stock ones. if you jus buy a club off the shelves, you could end up with a club that might not work well with what your wanting or looking for out of a club. the shafts could be too long for ya, and the lie and offset of the club could be too upright or too flat and that makes a big difference. i got custom fitted last week and i got the apex cf16 with projectX shafts in em. i was originally got fitted for the AP2 716 but my shafts were on back order till end of march and we didn't know that at the time so we called around to other brands that i liked and only shafts i could get and club to have next week were the mizunos. i needed up jus going with the apex cf 16 with projectX shafts in em now and won't get them till like maybe the end of march or first week of april which sucks but oh well. if you want to have fun and make sure your clubs are right for you. go get custom fitted, don't go to dicks. go to a local custom club fitting place so they will actually spend time with you and making sure thats what you need. dicks jus goes and checks your lie and length of shafts. they don't get into deep like i think most stores should. good luck and enjoy

To Trackman or Not To Trackman?
proto replied to HitAndGiggle's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
the fitting place where i got fitted last week, if your wanting to use their trackman and not buy any clubs. it's like 100-200 just to use it. if you end up buying clubs from them then fitting is free. if they are not using a trackman, gc2 know what your average yardage is because the simulators that aren't trackman or gc2 will give you a extra 20-30ys. my brother went to dicks just to hit some new irons and he said with the one length cobra irons he was hitting a 5i 236y and he said he hit a stinger with the driver and he said his carry was like 300+ he laughed and told the guy the simulator has to be off but the guy said no its very accurate, which we know it's not at all. if i was you, id get fitted outside off the grass so you can get the real data like you would be if your playing on a course. if it's not a trackman or gc2 id make sure your not getting extra 30y that you know isn't true data -
Club fitting/ Ball striking questions
proto replied to Aw Jeez's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
i'm not that tall at all and when i got fitted for my AP2 716 last week. i brought in my blade with px 5.0 in em and the fitter was like wtf why would they fit me in those shafts. then i started to hit and he realized i was spinning the ball so much. then he told me that my attack angle was really steep so next hit i got my attack angle to -3 to +1 and the fitter was showing me how much my spin rate went down. so i tried a bunch of other shafts and clubs and ended up with Ap2 716 Px LZ 6.0 now i have drop 5strokes off my scorecard. fitter jus said he liked how i was able to change my attack angle was surprised that i could control my spin rate also. i did try out the new TM P770 it's very clean looking but it didn't feel like a forged iron in your hands. few days after getting fitted i hit the one length irons and i did like the way they felt so i might one day have to give that one length a try in my shafts. when ever you get fitted, make sure you have got to hit every single brand of clubs that you have your mind set on, i forgot to try out the Callaway Apex pro16 and CF16. but im happy with what i have now -
i just got this bag, rare 2017 Nike Air Sport stand bags at the range won't fall over like cart bags will. if you walk more and want lighter bag go with a stand bag, if you ride the carts more and never walk then go with a cart bag or a staff bag if ya want. do wat ever ya want no judge at all. most of the time when i see people walking with stand bags, they are the ones who can play at a fast pace of walking vs the ones who are always driving left to right or right to left looking for their balls.

Bogey Golfers Only (Index 16-22) / Breaking 90 Topic
proto replied to rkim291968's topic in Golf Talk
so you think it's pointless to work more on your short game then long game? I've seen a lot of people who can drive the ball long and straight but when they hit their second shot, they end up left or right of the greens. then when they get in the bunkers they struggle or come up short or don't know how to put spin on the ball. I've played with guys who come short of the greens and their pitch shots jus rolls way to far or off the greens. seen people get in on the greens on in 2 and ends up scoring a triple or quad because they never work on their putting. if you work on your short game more and then work on your long game you will score better because your short game is where it really matters. lets say if you hit it in the water off your tee shot you still can come out with a par or a bogey vs ending up with a triple or a double or a quad depending par your on. the only time your going to be hitting a 3i is like on a par5 or a very long par3. if you can't get your ball to stop on a green then you need to learn how to putt long. you can disagree with me all you want but short game is way more important then long game. when i got back into golf i was shooting int he high 90s and low 100s, even since i worked on 130y-100y in and around the green and putting i dropped my scores down into the 80s jus cause i worked on my weakest parts of my game. by end of the summer i was scoring in the low 80s and my best score i shot was a 76. everyone hits it in the water and woods or in the trees, even tour guys. and lets say you can drive it and your 2nd shot is 130y into the green and you come up short or go into the bunker. and your short game isn't good at all and you can get around the green in 2 but you end up with a 4 or 5 because you can't control your balls on the greens or even putt. but like i said you can disagree with me all you want. i know what worked for me and this thread was wanting to know how he or she was able to break 100s and 90s -
Bogey Golfers Only (Index 16-22) / Breaking 90 Topic
proto replied to rkim291968's topic in Golf Talk
the key i found out how to break 100 or 90 and even 80s is to play smart golf. sometimes on a 140y-150y 2nd shot instead of hitting my 9i and trying to get aggressive with it. i'll club up one and hit my 8i with a smooth easy swing. and the more calm i am with a bad hole the better i play. once you start to think about how bad your round is going, it won't get better. jus stay positive and try and not to rush your self around the course. if your wanting to stop making triple and double bogeys. you need to work on your putting and short game. spend 30mins to an hour or more on your putting and learning how to read your putts. learn how to make a smooth putting stroke and learn how to putt good lag putts on long putts. try and not hit those fancy shots that you have never worked on because it will jus hurt your scores. and if you really want to drop your scores, you need to start going to the range more and walk the course and play 130y-100y in and work on those second shot attempts. bunker game is very key also, learning how to hit the ball out of the bunker with spin also helps. if you can get your short game on point the long game is a whole lot easier to learn. and don't worry what the people behind you or the people your playing with are doing. you play on how you know how to play and don't let people tell you try something out new on the course. take their advice and try it on the range some other time. -
Time to move up from SGI to GI irons?
proto replied to MrFreeze's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
see i have a cousin who never got his irons fitted for him and i told him when you get fitted they are going to setup your clubs to your swing. and he kept fading all of his shots while he was getting fitted because he wasn't closing the face, so they put lil more offset on his irons and then he started to hit all his shots straight. week goes by one day he kept hooking his shots every swing. i asked what are you doing different and he said trying to close the face. i said it's prob where when you got fitted and didn't close the face at impact, they added more offset. i told him don't close the face, the rest of the day he was throwing darts. -
Time to move up from SGI to GI irons?
proto replied to MrFreeze's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
because Gi clubs have more offset then my blades and when i hit a Gi i have to open the face up some so it won't go left thats why i trust my feet position and my hips lined up where i want it to go more then working about where the face is pointing at. thats why you cant jus point straight at the flag if your hitting off the side of a hill or uneven lie cause that ball won't go straight if your aiming right at the flag -
Pants for less slim guys
proto replied to LimeTree's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
i rather have golf clothes that are fit or athletic fit then clothes that are baggy or made for normal people. i have more range of freedom in my swing and don't have to adjust my left sleeve on my shirt cause it feels weird when im standing at address. i think they are improving in the clothes and lot more weightless going on and very breathable. plus if a guy saw a shirt like rory or jordan or DJ has on, it can motivate a person to get into shape so they can look good in it. when it comes to summer heat weather, fit style that breathes really good and very thin is going to feel better then a semi think dri-fit polo shirt that feels sticky on the back of your shirt because its a loose fit and jus flops around on your back. -
Pants for less slim guys
proto replied to LimeTree's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
if it says "fit - slim fit or athletic" thats for people that are in "in-shape or athletic fit or looking like Rory" Note: if it say fit, slim-fit or athletic fit and you have man boobs or love handles. it is not for you, because it will be tight fitted and your mom boobs will be looking bigger then your wife's, gf, mom and sister's boobs. if the pants are so tight in the hips and thighs where u can't bend over then you need to find another style or maybe go up a few sizes. not trying to mean at all. im jus saying i've seen a lot of guys out there on the course who looks just like the fat girls they make fun of for wearing clothes they shouldn't be wearing at all. another thing guys, if your man boobs are the same size or bigger then your gf or wife's. that mean u need to get in shape. even some skinny guys don't need to be wearing slim fit shirts and pants, cause they won't be able to fill out the shirt and it's jus going to look like skinny shirt or if they fit it, they will be looking like a tooth pick out their. but if your wanting to be looking like Rory or DJ out their, buy u some fit stuff or slim fit, then look at your self in the mirror and it will want u to start working out and get in shape. plus it will help you also on golf side with your swing and stuff from working out and lasting longer and be able to push thru those 18holes or how many u play or walk -

mp54 more compact in-between a players and GI, G30 are more chunky irons and will go further then the mp54 and ones forged and the other is cast so feel is going to be different. mp54 will be more workable since its small head and is built more leaning towards a players iron. but if you know how to hit a draw and a fade on command then you should be able to work really any club. if i wasn't worried about distance id go mp54, cause it will have a better feel and smaller head and more control. what are you looking for in irons? if your wanting a iron that is small but still forgiving and has sum distance to it, id look into like ap2 714-716, apex pro or even the apex cf16. but for ya do i think all GI are the same? yes cause i know what to expect and thats distance and forgiveness with lack of feel n control. but really all GI and PI and MB are all the same tbh some might feel lil softer or go lil further but if i have the distance dialed in and don't need help with it, id go with a mb or player's iron jus for the forgiveness to have. -

more offset if for the ones who can't close the face. for me i want less offset so i don't have to worry my ball hooking when i close the face. a lot of AM golfers aren't worry about trying to spin the ball with a GI irons, they are more into trying to smoke the ball as far as they can. and the most forgiveness they can get. but their are some guys who can spin the ball with a GI because they are using a softer ball which helps a lot and knows how to spin the ball. i think it's easier to hit a ball with a small face then a big face -

for a person who hitting a GI with more offset is going to fade the ball since they are not used to having to close the face. since there clubs are already set with more offset, person playing a blade with less offset will tend to draw or hook it if they pick up a GI club. i think it is easier to draw and fade a blade then it is a GI clubs which is built for someone who is looking for distance and forgiveness and not worried about trying to spin the ball back. grooves on a blade vs a GI is different in every way. take a blade out and try and spin it 140y into a green and then take a GI and try and hit the same shot. grooves on a blade will give you better results, thats if you know how to spin the ball back and can hit a blade i have both sets blades and CB and after hitting a CB and moving on to a blades i find its easier to control the ball where i want it to go. if i didn't play blades i would never comment on here about them. if your wanting to play a blade go for it, if you don't and want to figure out what the hype is. maybe go demo a set somewhere, tbh reading people's comments won't really help you out. only way to find out your self is to go play with some blades your self. I'm just telling you what i experience when i switch from a cb to a blade and will never go back to a GI club ever again. first month of playing blades I've dropped 10 strokes, they will make you a way better ball striker. if you put in the work on learning how to hit them -
i say it's going to be more tradition mb style. never know he could bring out something that could mind blowing.

with a blade being smaller and grooves being more tighter and being made for control and workability vs a big face and grooves are spaced out lil more with more offset makes it harder for others to get the face open to hit a fade. you get so much more feel and workability with a smaller head. i have CB also and can't shape them both ways like i can with my blade. some people can work a CB both ways. CB jus for players who want more forgiveness and distance and doesn't think about spinning there ball into the green. only thing their focus on is getting on the green and making sure their swing is correct and that the ball isn't going to to fade right hard or hook -
CF16 to me had a more of a firm feel at impact vs the JPX900 Forged. if it was me i'd go for the JPX900 they felt softer and the head wasn't chunky looking down at. i did have lil more distance with the callaway but i like the way JPX900 felt and looks. but if i was going to buy some new irons i'm more leaning towards the JPX Tour or wait till callaway releases their new Apex MB. but for you i'd go with the Mizunos. they go some really great stuff and the JPX Forged and Tour really impresses me. plus they have a huge shaft selections to pick from
