  1. Freddie Couples is a joy to watch on TV. He is from my home state of WA. He also plays gloveless and drives the ball 300 yards at the age of 51. What's not to like?
  2. As a former allergy shot taker I say that this does work. A real PITA though taking 2 injections weekly. My regimen was slightly different because I have horrible allergies. After 3 months they let me start doing them myself at home. Every time a vial would run out I would have to do the first injection out of the new vials in the doc's office and wait for 20 minutes to make sure I didn't have a reaction. After two years of this I stopped and started taking a daily singular tablet which doesn't work quite as well, but takes far less time out of my schedule. It costs less as well. Good luck with the treatments.
  3. I have resisted until now at opening this thread because I didn't want to rain on the parade of the gloved golfer, but I see Sean and a few others have already done so. How many golfers have ever tried to play without a glove? I'd say there are very few because everyone wants to do what the pros do. Try a full cord grip like the new Decade Multicompound without a glove. You may be surprised at the results. Sincerely, gloveless since 2008 PS. WWFCD?
  4. I think anyone who can consistently shoot in the 70's to be a "good" golfer.
  5. This is one of my favorites also, but didn't get to see tonight's episode because of work. My wife is in love with Simon Baker the actor who plays Patrick Jane.
  6. I'm probably taking you to literal, but time does not equal distance IMO. Improved technique = distance, accuracy, and consistency. For instance I played this game for years with the same results. I would hit a 5i from 150 and hoped it would end up somewhere in the vicinity of the green. After a 7 year hiatus from golf which involved military service/marriage/kids I picked it up again and decided that the same old wasn't good enough and decided to take it somewhat more serious. With improved technique the shot from 150 = a smooth 8i with a good chance of hitting the green. I still battle the fat shot, but it's becoming better as my technique improves. A 165 yard 8i does you no good if you can only hit it that far 1 out of 10 times.
  7. At risk of looking and sounding like a hoover vacuum cleaner I would like to say thanks to David and Erik for this video. For the past two years I'd been doggedly attempting to pitch with the ball back in my stance and with a putting motion. Contact was, to say the least, inconsistent and chunks, thins and heel/toe contact with varied results were the reward. With a bit of practice in the off season in my backyard I put this into play on my first two 9 hole rounds with great success. My ball striking has improved, but as a high index player my ball striking flat out doesn't get it done, but my (as of right now) consistent short game has me off and running with a +4 40 and a + 6 42. I like those 4 foot par savers a lot better than the 15-20 footer for par! Thanks.
  8. Glad you liked the "good walk spoiled". I walk 99.9% of my rounds and after a year and a half I bought a clicgear 3.0 and haven't looked back. I do carry when the ground is super saturated and it would be a PITA to push a cart, but that is rare. The only annoyance is not being able to walk across the green with bag in tow like you can when you carry.
  9. First nine of the year was great. I've been working hard in the off season. I shot a +4 40 with a really dumb double bogie on a par five. 5 of 7 FW and 5 of 9 GIR. Scrambling and wedges were good. Putting was good as well. I made a couple of 8-10 footers for par, but I left 2 birdies one ball short on the bumpy slow greens. This sets the stage for a plummet in my index!!
  10. Don't spit on the green/fringe or teebox and we'll get along just fine. I used to chew tobacco, but would spit at the base of trees or in bushes while on the course. POTD. Had me chuckling to myself.
  11. Does it have what's left of the original gun blue finish?? Stripping the finish or what's left of it and leaving it "naked" except the paintfill will lead to rust unless you take great care with it. If it's a putter you want to keep and enjoy for years I would suggest sending it in to a putter refinisher. Search WRX or here for info on places that refinish putters. I have a Studio Design #2. Great putter!!!
  12. Agree with the above. One of my (many) problems trying to adopt the S&T; method was my misinterpretation of "weight forward" to mean a large upper body move toward the target. What helped me was keeping the head and upper body centered and striving for the "butt tucked" finish. I found in the off season that by striving for the proper finish had my hips moving forward properly on the downswing. I added distance and mucho height to my ball flight with proper extension. Contact has become much more consistent as well and far less fat/thin shots by attempting to hold onto the flying wedge. Dave's video helped me a ton!! edit: added video
  13. I have a Nike Sasquatch and put it on a clic gear 3.0 legs down without difficulty. I can access all pockets with no problems.
  14. Just back from Phoenix, AZ. for a family emergency. My great uncle and I had to get out of the hospital environment for awhile so he took me to an executive par 3 and par 4 course. I played with some crappy graphite shafted irons in senior flex. I looked like a real hacker out there (even more than usual), but it was glorious wearing shorts and a short sleeve shirt! Here I am back in the midwest awaiting the arrival of the storm of the century. Winter definitely sucks!
  15. 68.8/122 from the whites 71.9/127 from the (my tees) blues, and 75.6/129 from the tips. The tips are 7621 yards. Absolutely ridonculous if you ask me!
  16. Same could be said of the now #3 player in the world, but everyone holds him up like a golf god. JD just needs to STFU and play golf!! He whines about stuff that most everyone else just takes in stride. I hate that part of his "game". I think if he just plays golf and quits whining, then soon he wouldn't have anything to whine about. I hope he has a good weekend!
  17. Fowler seems hot right out of the gate. Out in 31 and tied for the lead @ -5. errrrrrrrr make that in the lead @ -6. He's a birdie machine right now.
  18. "My God!!! My swing feels like an unfolded lawn chair!!!!"
  19. Goodwill gives out receipts for tax purposes if you care to take one. You make a good point. It is a donation to charity. As for haggling, I'm a cheapskate, so it comes with the territory I guess.
  20. I think that big old staff bag eventually went for $170. Mine is currently on the bay. I doubt it'll go for the current price, but we'll see. I will probably just end up keeping it. http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-POWERBILT-GOLF-BAG-ORANGE-CART-BAG-NICE-/400185218827?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash;=item5d2ce5d70b As for the unclean dirty comment. I feel the same, that's why they make soap and water. I feel especially dirty when I walk out with a steal of a bargain!! Just the other day my wife bought an old pentax camera ($60-$100) for $2. Some people just don't bother with looking up the value of their old "junk".
  21. Walked 18 today in mid 30's with an 11-18 MPH wind. Three other people on the 27 hole course. I wore my standard layer of holiday blubber with UA base layer under Adidas wind pants and a long sleeved Nike Fit Storm jacket. Thankfully the jacket is wind proof. The only part of me that ended up chilly was my face and my hands once or twice. I'm thinking of taking some gloves next time to put on between shots.
  22. What happened to the Circa 62 #3??
  23. I agree she could use a restoration, but I'm a function over looks sort of guy. The bare metal/rust just adds character and the Rife cover keeps the thieves away.
  24. Both my wedges plus 3W are Titleist. Both my hybrids plus Driver are Nickent. That's the extent of the matching in my Nike bag. I get a sort of chuckle out of the fellas I see with matching bag, clubs, hat, shirt, belt, etc. I may just be jealous though.
  25. My cluster of a bag. There are way to many club covers for my liking. One of my goals is to get the 4i back in and take the 4h out. The 4h is the least used club in the bag. The covers are also slightly misleading because under the Rife putter cover is an old SC Studio Design #2. Under the Cleveland 3W cover is a Titleist 906 F2 and under the 3DX hybrid cover is a 5DX. Anyway, here are a few pics. There is nothing top end or fancy here. Covers off Driver, 3W, and hybrids. Wedges 52 and 56 oil can spin milled vokeys. I started to do some experimental stamping on the back of the 52, but haven't finished yet. SC Studio Design #2. I have been offered $195 for this putter. I declined politely, telling the guy he was nutty. She had some very small rust spots on the sole when I got her, but they have since worn off and what you see in the pics of the sole is where the finish is worn off and bare steel is showing. In a few more years I might get it refinished?? Her face and top line are immaculate, so I'm not to worried about it. She is currently bathed in a layer of petroleum jelly to discourage further rusting.
