Being from Wisconsin, a place where snow is plentiful, golf is generally somewhat considered a seasonal outdoor sport. The season basically ranges from the first spring thaw until that first snowfall around wintertime when courses close. However, many times courses will have an "Artic Open" and play a winter/snow round with blaze orange golf balls, etc. With the upcoming season readilly approaching and spring fever starting to build, what are you most looking forward to for the 2010 season? Are you looking forward to testing out that new driver or putter you got for Christmas on the course? Have you been practicing at indoor ranges to battle Hole #8 at your favorite course, which no matter how well you are playing, you always seem to do the worst on this hole and settle for a bogey or double bogey? Or maybe your simply looking forward to getting out there on that nice spring day with the birds chirping and spring smells in the air, after you played hooky from work deciding to walk your local course? WHAT ARE YOU ALL LOOKING FORWARD TO? Personally, I'm looking forward to it all, trying some new equipment and getting golf fever. Sorry, honey...it's golf season. I'll be home in time for dinner. Good luck everyone! See you out there!

Cleveland Launcher 2009 Fairway 4/5 wood
The Owl replied to keb's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'm a fan of the Launcher 5-wood. I currently use the 2009 Launcher driver and I have been satisfied. I recently tested the 5-wood and have been impressed. I really like the Fujikama shafts that the Lauchers have. It fits me. A great feeling on impact. Highly recommend! -
My personal favorite is Coldwater Canyon at Chula Vista Resort: http://www.wisconsindellsgolf.com/si...=312&page;=7402 This resort is geared around golf and it is the prettiest course in the Dells, in my opinion. Also, I think it is the quietest resort without a lot of "on the strip" business, like Wilderness Resort. Plus, after 18 holes enjoy a mouthwatering steak at the in-famous Kaminski Brothers Chop House, located at the Resort.

I've never hit them (irons) but am curious. It's just like Adams. Generally the irons are more popular than woods. Some companies are just better known for one or the other.

In Wisconsin, generally when the snow thawes...season starts (late March) and snow starts...season ends (mid-November). However, I've heard of a few courses doing the "Artic Open". Basically golfing the course with snow and bright colored balls. It's a good time.

Use the accronym R.I.C.E........Rest.....Ice.....Compression....Elevation. In this order. About 15 minutes each phase. for rehibilation purposes, try swimming. Water resistance is great for repairing and strengthening injuries/muscles. Good luck!

Getting Married; Looking for Groomsmen gift ideas
The Owl replied to deadsolidperfect's topic in The Grill Room
Thique gift shop in my hometown that has grilling utensils made out of golf clubs. For example, the spatula is a metal spatula, with a steel shaft and golf club grip. Take a look around for them. Check this site out: http://www.uncommongoods.com/item/item.jsp?itemId=15232 -
"Mmmmm....Ahh...Yeah...I'm going to have to, sort of, disagree with you on that one...Yeaaahh." (Based on my experience golfing with The Fox a.k.a Obiwan21)

You've been dubbed the nickname on the course, "The Owl"

What do YOU look for in a golf course?
The Owl replied to AmenCorner's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
I like a challenge, but I also enjoy the serenity golf brings. That said, I look for courses that encompass nature well. -
I don't know about ANYPLACE in the world, but realistically speaking I've been looking into Mesquite, NV. Check it out. http://www.golfmesquitenevada.com/

Where is the best place to look for used putters?
The Owl replied to SpacklersEdge's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've seen some good prices at Golf Galaxy or Rock Bottom Golf. -
I think Gretzky should get a nod, considering his accomplishments from youth through the pros.

Anything's better than my worn-out mix match set I've had since 1992. I'm currently shopping for a new set. I do like Adams and Cleveland when I hit them.

Steve Stricker. Down to earth...regular guy.
-
Personally, I would pull my 3-iron.
-
I would say in general my 5-wood. However, lately I like the Callaway Big Bertha Diablo driver.

Yes, of course. Golf is 1/2 mental and 1/2 physical. In order for your body to function properly at its best level it needs both mental and physical rest. So, to avoid injury and fatigue, get plenty of rest before the tee. Approx. 6-8 hours a night, depending on the individual. Also, stretching is huge. It's the best thing we can do for exercise as we get older to decrease potential injury. Once you get up, do some stretching. Before you golf and after do some more stretches. You'll thank yourself later.

It all depends on the person. Everyone is different. It's kind of like what is the best running shoe? Nike? New Balance? Golf is the same way. Personally, I've found Adams to work best for me. However, that's for me and not necessarily someone else.

I have a Titleist and love it! Very durable. Ebay has some good prices on Titleist bags.

Run, walk, golf. Walking a 9-hole course is the eqivalent of a 5-mile walk. I need to start a lifting program soon though.

Adams...enough said! :P
