  1. I had on (from head to toe) Black and White Titleist aussie hat White underarmour dry gear Black shirt (PGA Tour brand) flashy Nike belt Black and grey plaid Nike shorts Black socks White Nike air golf shoes w/black widow spikes It was also 100 degrees out...why I wore black...it was the only clean golf gear I had left in the closet!
  2. By the way...yes that is an errant golf ball in the pic, and yes it is from my indoor chipping practice. And yes, I do know all the breaks and backstops in my own home.
  3. Here is mine. I used to not have a 5h (just got one in my brand new set today), so its making things a little crowded, but I'm just so OCD, it has to be in the same pocket! Basically my driver must be alone, and my putter and wedges all need to be in the bottom most pocket. Headcovers on http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/d...g/DSCF0023.jpg Headcovers off http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/d...g/DSCF0025.jpg (yes I know my putter does not have a headcover...I lost it )
  4. I've never come back from the range with this big a smile on my face! In fact, I wish I could go back now! I've been using Hireko Acer XK Pros for a while now (I am pretty sure they are Callaway X-2x clones) and honestly liked them just fine. They are considered GIs, but I always thought a tad more GI features wouldn't hurt so bad. Anyways, browsing 3balls, I see used MX-100s (grade: very good) up for sale for a very insanely good price. Something told me to just go ahead and buy them, even though I've never hit a post 1989 Mizuno in my life at this point. I figured the worst that could happen (if 3balls used grading process happened to be lousy) was that I had a backup set of clubs for visiting friends and relatives and I'd be out a few hundred bucks. Well...anyways, to my great surprise, the clubs were pretty much brand new. Only the 8i had 3 3mm long scuff marks on the toe, and signs of minimal use with the 9i and pw. The rest of the clubs were spotless. 3balls grading process actually exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds. Re: Range report. These clubs are just plain FUN to hit. I know why too, they are ridiculously easy to get up and long, and they feel nice and crisp. Heck, there was even a little 'ball skin' circle forming on all sweet spot of all the clubs at the end of my bucket. It looked almost like I was a good player or something. I do however need to work with the Mx-100 hybrids a bit more...I was hitting nothing but draws and hooks at first, but when I held back, and smoothed things out, I could get pretty pure shots. That I think I should practice more, because when I hit one good, it was maybe 10-15 yrds longer than my old hybrid of corresponding loft. Anyhow, sorry for the long post. I just had to share my good experience using a new vendor, and more importantly, letting everyone know that I finally know why Mizuno is such a big deal to some.
  5. I have a gigantic bucket hat that looks dorky, but good heavens does it help me stay cool!
  6. I couldn't hit the R7 ltd as long as with the burner (I tried 09), but the ltd was very easy to hit straight and, for me, there were very few mishits. Since I am a high handicapper, I had to swallow the pill and take ease of striking, and ease of finding fairway over distance. What is odd, is that I think the Ltd is geared towards the lower handicapper...but whatever the balls doing is different for you is all that matters. Look fwd to learning what you ended up with!
  7. Couldn't sleep, so just wanted to share some laughs. Gotta love that style!
  8. Well...this sound dorky, but as dream set I'd want to have mystic irons, wedges, and a putter forged in some old mans workshop (a mysterious samurai type maybe even). These irons would have a beautiful resonant sound that was unique to anything made, and pinup girls (each different) stamped on the heads. But this does not exsist...and more importantly wouldn't lower my handicap faster than something off the rack.
  9. I actually bought a Vokey for 20 bucks used. Sure, it had scuff marks, beat up grip, and a quarter sized wear mark on the face. BUT, that thing was very very sweet and spun the ball like a mad hamster in a rolly ball. In fact its back in my bag. If used is not an option, I saw that there is a pretty inexpensive Nike tour wedge on rockbottom...no experience with those, but my buddy swears by em.
  10. When you know who Hames, Bernie, Camila and Hugo are w/o 2nd thought
  11. I have one and its pretty darn closed...almost too much so in my opinion. But, I gotta tell ya though, I could hit some real bombs with that thing!
  12. haha, well, she certainly didn't outdrive us (she played from fwd tees anyways), but parred nearly every hole for a very healthy score. Said she learned from her brother...looked to me you couldn't learn a crazy swing like that.
  13. Oh wait, I forgot to mention that she was playing from the reds (forward) and the guys played from white (mids). But stiiiil, she whoop us, lol.
  14. Today I got paired up with a 14-16 year old girl and her Dad. Yup, not just schooled by a high schooler, but a teenage girl. Nicest folks ever, we had a great time out there (humid though). Anyways, she had a loopty, doopty, dippy, 13 swing planes, super handsy swing. She wasn't hitting too long (maybe 170ish-180ish yards off the tee with her driver), but each and every single time the ball would follow the same traj and cut ever so slightly and plop down nice and easy. Irons...woods...her hybrids...pitches...all the same flight path. If there were a Ritz cracker 170 yards out in the fairway she could probably smush it with the golf ball. Anyways, I'm glad her Dad was just as lousy as I was, and missed just as many fairways, otherwise I'd probably cry. Just wanted to share my story of being handily schooled by a high schooler...I will enjoy my humble pie now.
  15. I have the Acer XK Pros, seem to be clones of Callaway x20s. I wasn't going to bother with the Acers, but a local club fitter promised me (w/money back garuntee) that I'd like them and pay hundreds less, so I took him up. Ended up quite happy and he kept his money. I think you'd like them, as long as you don't care about having 'fancy' name brands that tour pros use. Tis a nice club!
  16. Apologize in advance for bumping an older thread, but just had to mention that today I stopped by my local Dicks to buy some batting gloves (for my atrocious slo pitch softball team) and saw the supposed 'golf pro' (ie dude behind golf counter and bays...dunno if he is PGA member or not) slamming drivers into the display racks with a mad look on his face. I guess he was having a bad day, but yikes, talk about lousy professionalism and a good way to scratch up some new hardware. Heck they have punching bags not 10 yards away, he coulda messed with that! I guess that place is indeed not for golf stuff as everyone on the forum says.
  17. I hit the ball about 70 yards, and the clump of dirt goes about 120. In all seriousness though...my 7 iron is somehow my anti-club...I'd rather crank a delofted 8, or take an easy swing on a 6 and hope for the best. Honestly...makes me bummed out thinking about it ha ha.
  18. Gotta love the 'yazz flute' soundtrack, the shaft that is 'like a sword' and the patriot missle golf ball contrails @ :44 complete with slow-mo 'YAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGH!!!!!' Who wouldn't want one of these! LOL!
  19. big ol' smiley face for me. only problem is, lately i find a lot of other ppl on the coruse use this marking too. Ever since I started using smily faces, I've lost less balls.
  20. I believe have the most uncool car of all members on this forum... a 2000 silver honda cr-v with no all wheel drive. I bought it off my Mom when my fun little Acura Integra was wrecked by a hit and runner. What can I say, I hate paying bills, so I didn't want a car payment after my other had been paid off for so long. Heck, I just wanted something with wheels and forward momentum plus a radio. Yup, my car is a real babe magnet.
  21. I yell 'FORE RIGHT/LEFT' and I stick my hand/club out to which ever direction it is headed. I did have an incident though, when I yelled FORE LEFT! And the guy, instead of going turtle position or running away spins around looks right at me with a 'what?' face. Ball whizzed by his head, don't think he even knew. Funny thing is, is that he did it again when my pal yelled fore 2 holes later. I think the guy was very drunk...
  22. Okay my title is a very lame play on words.. please forgive that. Anyways, just thought I'd tell all you good folks that I was chipping and putting at the local practice facility and wanted to get some good practice out of good ol' Texas heavy rough. So, I go to a spot under a nice shady tree and a brown snake rustles from out the tree and sliters past my feet very fast to a neighboring field. I screamed like a 7 year old girl! Specifically I think I said 'EEEEEEEEEEkkkk!!!' I don't think the snake was venomous, and it seems he got scared and wanted to run away from me. I think I should work on hitting more fairways, you know just incase snakes lurk in every rough on every course.
  23. Only one woman for me. Dottie Pepper. *Howwwwwwwwwwl* *woof* *woof* What a hawty. JK of course. I say give Gulbis' extra vertebrae to Creamer and we got a great thing goin. But if I had to choose, Creamer.
  24. I have a 14 degree Nickent Hybrid and it is probably my favorite club in the bag (besides my rusty and super heavy putter). Came with a pretty good feeling stock shaft (UST proforce v2...mustard yellow color). I've seen them myself at various stores for 50-60 lately also (never so low as 30 though) and thought that would be a fine deal for anyone who doesn't mind having clubs that are maybe 1.5 yrs old. I think you'd be happy.
  25. Just thought I'd share a little funny story with you good folks. At LB Houston in Dallas...the muni next to the rifle range (world famous for simulating golf in warzone they say) I hit a massively fat shot off the tee with my 19*h and it somehow bounced off the ladie's tee marker and flew over a little stream 20 yards to the left of us, bounced off a tree, then somehow landed in a patch of bundled lawn mower clippings a good 10-15 yards forward. I had to walk over a rusty bridge to my ball. Anyways, with the same hybrid in hand I gave it a good wack, and it through the trees and left me with enough shots to save par. Anyways, just wanted to see if anyone else had fun stories about lousy tee shots that turned into a nice result. Then again, maybe no one is as bad a golfer as I am.
