The 2013 Tampa Bay Championship Presented by Everbank Discussion Thread
Dave H replied to Rick Martin's topic in Tour Talk
Be honest, there's more than a touch of irony there. If I were a jerk I'd call it complete hypocrisy, but I'm willing to accept that it's ok for you to espouse your beliefs, as long as Kevin Streelman and other Christians don't share theirs. Why does it matter what he chooses to attribute his win to? To answer your previous post, it is a fact that the bible has been in existence for a long period of time. Whether or not you believe it is a personal choice. -

For many, God is just as real, or even much more real. Believe what you want of course, but it's a fact that the Word of God has certainly been around much long than any psychologist. -

But what if he had said, "I'd like to thank my psychologist, he helped me stay focused at the end. It was my belief in his system that really made the difference." Would you still feel like throwing up a bit? What would the difference be? -
sure, but would that be true if it didn't have working lights, signals, etc? Not saying it doesn't, just wondering.

Maybe he just wants to drive it legally?

Well, it looked like tiger hit a draw for his second on 1, so I guess that answers that.

Sorry I couldn't resist responding. Everything was wrong with that post!

He's not the Tim Tebow of golf, he's won at the highest level. I also don't think he does everything wrong. Doe he have an unconventional swing? Yes.

Sir Nick doesn't bother me at all. I generally find him pleasant to listen to.

Which set do you recommend: JPX800 Pro or JPX825 Pro ?
Dave H replied to Ollie78's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Yeah, that's cool and makes sense. Despite what some think I was just curious because I am also a 20 and just recently got the regular 825s. For me, I was hitting a "tour iron" and found them to be a little too unforgiving. I liked how I hit the 825s and the price was right for me. I didnt even really consider the pros. Hope you enjoy your new sticks whatever you chose. -

I have to assume you're responding to my post since I asked the OP why the pro over the regular. I guess you must think Mizuno as a company is pretty ignorant too, since they seem to be recommending iron sets based on handicap. But, whatever, I was merely curious to the OPs thoughts. I wasn't recommending anything. -

Just out of curiosity, at a 20hdcp why the pro version and not the regular jpx version? -
I picked up a set of JPX-825 irons a few weeks ago. Not as sexy looking as the MPs but I love them so far. If only the frigid weather and snow would disappear!

Most durable golf glove?
Dave H replied to garybbq's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I've been using the taylormade Targus glove for a while now with good success. I don't know if they still are, but they had been running a buy 2 get a 3rd free for some time. In addition, I've found that straightening out the glove and putting it back in the plastic and box after a round has helped with longevity. -
I'm in the Chicago area and play public courses and this is what I'm prepared for too. Weekends a 5 hour round doesn't surprise me. It's not that I like it, but if I'm going to keep my costs lower and play less exclusive clubs, I try to set my expectations right.

So, I have a "hypothetical" question for you fantasy golfers : If you had Brandt Snedeker and Tiger Woods in your A group, and you started Brandt, would you switch to start Tiger as he has now played the harder south course, but Brandt is currently in the lead??? What would you do? Of course I'm not asking for my own advice...

Consistent, repeatable swing. I generally start the year out doing ok and moving forward but at some point I start mishitting more shots than not, get very down and "forget" how to swing at all. At that point my game seems to stay in the crapper for 2 months.

I know you and I already agreed we wouldn't see eye to eye on this issue, but I want to ask you a question. Since you have the pulse of "the average American" (more on that later) what would the average American think if we all paid the exact same percentage, no loop holes credits, etc. make 100 grand, pay 25. Make a million, pay 250. And we can leave out the lowest income earners, say current poverty level and below. Let's just say they don't have to pay taxes. Regarding the average american, I think you're wrong on this. I think the country is pretty well divided on this issue. The fact that prop 30 didn't pass by huge margin is an indicator of this.

IMO, one of the great fallacies out there of our time is that the "economy" is a fixed pie in which a very small percentage have the majority of money and the majority don't have any. But it's not really that, because on its face that's kind of what it seems like right? The wealthy have all the money and the rest of us have no shot so it's unfair and life sucks! Continue to ram this thought down peoples throats and it will probably be true one day. The reality is that economy is NOT a fixed pie and it's up to indivuals to go out and be creative, productive, etc. this supply and demand: I come up with something you want and so you buy it from me. Part of the problem, or what makes this conversation so difficult is the complicated and yes, unfair tax system. If people truly believed it was up to them to make something of themselves, and we all paid 25% to govt (made up number) who wouldnt want to "be all they could be" so to speak? Forget about hating on the rich, we all strive to do our best and hopefully everyone does better in the long run. I realize there will always be exceptions to the rule, but we have become a society of exceptions and excuses if you ask me. Feel disadvanted in life? Do something about it! What on earth is holding you back other than yourself? Our history is full of stories about folks who overcame difficult situations and changed their lives. We wouLd do well to remember them. My .02.

Who do you think is the best ball striker of all time? Why?
Dave H replied to boil3rmak3r's topic in Golf Talk
I'd probably select Hogan based on everything I've seen, heard and read about him. Moe Norman would be up there for the same reasons. It's hard to recognize sometimes since we have so much media access to players of today that we didn't have then (or weren't really alive or paying attention at the time like myself). Given the unforgiving equipment they played and what they were able to do, they had to be great ball strikers. RE: Hunter Mahan, outside of the two obviously bad shots on video, isn't he generally considered one of the better ball strikers on tour?
