Shot a new PB today. Beating my previous best of 79 by 4 for a 75. My goal was breaking 80 this year so delighted to have flew past it already a few times.

Finally broke 80 on my home course (par 71) on Saturday last for the first time in a most unlikely way. Shot +9 on the front nine and then -1 on the back nine for a 79. Delighted

No question about it the second one. A hole in one would be great and all but it’s not something I think about much or “really” want. If it happened ya great but a personal best round by three shots would make me feel a whole lot better and have me buzzing for a while.

Hi I won our Golfer of the year in 2021. I’d like to claim the tournament winner award please. I never realised til now there is a tournament winner award. Thank you

Equalled my personal best today shooting 80. Needed a par on the last for 79 but caught my approach heavy and needed an up and down for par. The chip just didn’t roll out as much as I wanted so I missed my par put by a couple of inches. On the plus side I shot my first ever double bogey free round and first ever no sixes round (I thought this would have me breaking 80 but too many bogeys) I must head over and claim my badges 👍

Two more today, the 3rd and 4th holes. A par 4 and a par 3, I was 3 over on the front 9 and ended up 12 over. I didnt play particularly well but thats two more off the list.

Ticked 3 more off the list at the weekend, the 1st, 9th and 15th, all par fours, one of them the 15th is one I didnt get last year or ever before in fact so delighted with that.

There is a new guy at our club who's a pure chatterbox, he never stops talking, he's a good guy but he never shuts up. We were playing with him last week and one of the guys said to him on the 18th hole "for fcuk sake, does nobody talk to you at home?" I nearly keeled over laughing, so did the chatterbox to be fair to him.

IMO having more clubs makes the game easier not harder. You can make the same swing with the different clubs depending on how far you are from the green etc. With less clubs you have to hit different shots with the same clubs which might be fun but it's not easier and means more decision making not less.

As usual I will be rooting for Rory, he always seems to crumble at Augusta though, hopefully tnis is his year. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cameron Smith win, he is playing serious stuff and he seems cool under pressure.

I achieved all these goals apart from break 80. I shot 80 on the nose twice this year 😣. My handicap dropped from 16 to 11.2 this year because I shot low 80's relatively consistently. I'm definitely more confident hitting longer irons although nowhere near as good as I want them to be. My short game came on a lot, I get up and down far more often than I used to. I would say I make par about 50% of the time from around the green at a guess

Probably was a bit too long alright but I did enjoy it

The Wrath of Man: Birdie, a fairly easy watch if you like action movies. Don't look up: Birdie, I thought it was frustrating in a good way, funny and also a good satirical look at the modern world, great ending too. Red notice: a bogey for me, as i get older i just don't really like far fetched action movies with too many plot holes. I would have loved it as a 14 year old so it's not like its a bad movie just not to my tastes anymore, I'm pretty much the same with all the avengers type movies, just find them sillly and predictable.

Torn between the 3 and 5 ft putts, a 5ft would actually clear my mortgage but I've missed them plenty of times for nothing so I wouldnt be confident with 100k on the line but I would be confident from 3ft so on reflection I'm going 3ft for 50k

I went better than I thought I would, just the 7th and 15th eluded me.
-
I dont bother carrying a 3 wood and I only hit 5 wood off the tee on holes that a straight drive from the tee will reach trouble. Good advice.

I assume in tnis instance it means shooting your handicap, so 36 stableford points or level par nett.

How to Grip a Golf Club, Commonalities of a Functional Golf Grip
Nail replied to mvmac's topic in Swing Thoughts
How do you guys decide on grip strength, I often tinker with this aspect of the grip never sure if something stronger or weaker might be more optimal -
My biggest drop in the four years I am playing was this year. 16.3 on June 9th to 11.1 on sept 12th. My problem has mostly been wayward drives pushed to the right and fat shots. I got one lesson for the driver where he told me my wrists collapse at the top of the swing, he gave me a temporary fix which i didn't like at all but once I knew the fault I worked hard on palmar flexing my left wrist at the top of my driver backswing. I started playing a straight or push fade as per Eriks thread here. I started hitting a lot more fairways and my scores were a lot better immediately ( a bad drive was causing doubles or worse before ) My irons also got a lot better following the advice of mvmac's thread on how to hit a draw and advice Erik gave me before to work on the wall turn drill, I already hit a draw but it was more so about turning properly in the backswing to eliminate fat shots. I'm still having the odd bad drive and bad iron shot but I am a far more confident ballstriker now. I still can't hit a draw with my driver though I just push it straight right when I try but I'm quite pleased with myself this year all in all

Thanks Erik 😊
