  1. We had our final round of the Golfer of the year, monthly medal at the weekend, so your best 6 rounds out of 9 are added together and I'm delighted to say I am our clubs Golfer of the year for this year. I won by about 11 strokes. I want to thank @iacas and @mvmacbecause it is in no small way down to the instruction thread on this forum that my game has come on aswell as the 30 day practice plan from april 2020 that I frequently go back to. My handicap went from 16.3 in May to 11.1 in September. Thanks guys, great forum here 👍
  2. I got Advocate. It says notable advocates in history are Mandela, Mother Teresa and Martin Luther King, flippin hell I'm a saint 😂😂
  3. Just 3 birdies needed to complete the challenge, time is running out though. One hole the 15th I have never had a birdie on it. It is the index 3 I think and it is a long par 4 with the toughest green on the course. Fingers crossed I complete it this year. My best year since I've started playing without doubt.
  4. Awesome @boogielicious thats great stuff. I'm well jealous👍
  5. Shot a 9 over 80 on my home course for my new PB. It’s a 71.4/125 rated course so it was a 7.8 differential so my handicap will be down to 12.0 in the morning. I was so close to breaking 80 which was one of my goals for the year. Getting there 👊
  6. Played a round early this morning, played crap but had an eagle on the par 5 12th hole. I hadn't even birdied it yet this year. Its a reachable par 5 in two if I get a good drive on the fairway, I had a 300 yard drive and hit a 6 iron to 2 inches off the green, made a roughly 20ft putt for eagle.
  7. Finally got a birdie on the index 1 on my home course, its my first ever and it came because of a mishit 9 iron, it's a 440 yard par 4 with a narrow dogleg at about the 220 yard from the tee mark. I had a good drive and left myself 150 yards out but I fatted a 9 iron about 90 yards. I hit a 56 degree wedge perfectly from 60 yards and it took two hops and fell straight in for my first ever hole out from any further than a nGIR distance. Delighted with the shot in what was a poor round
  8. I had 4 birdies on wednesday, highest ever birdie total in one round, 2 were new to the challenge and actually my first time to ever birdie them. 👍
  9. Shot an 87 on my home course on wednesday. 35 stableford points. Not great but on the plus side, I had 4 birdies which is the most I've ever had in one round so I was happy about that. 3 were on par 4's and 1 on a par 3.
  10. Beat my personal best by 1 for an 82 on my home course(par 71). 41 stableford points. Having said that I thought I might finally break 80 because I was only 5 over after 12 holes. I was 7 over for the last 6 holes 😕. I got a dose of the shanks today too, I had 4 shanks for some reason, I've hardly had 4 shanks in my life before today but I still managed to shoot a pb and get a little closer to breaking 80.
  11. Half the people in Northern Ireland would disagree hugely with you that tbere is a difference at all so correcting a guy on the net for it is IMO wrong, also Rory had opted to play for Ireland in the Olympics because he has a choice of either UK or Ireland so you are as much wrong as you are right
  12. That's awesome mate. That is a huge goal of mine too. 83 is my best so far. I'm quietly confident I'll do it this year but I thought that last year too 😂. Delighted for you
  13. Shot an 84 today which is my 2nd best ever round at my home course. It is a par 71 and I had an awful start. I was 9 over after the 5th hole and then caught lightning in a bottle by my standards. I had 9 pars and a birdie in the next 13 holes. So finished 13 over and that was including two penalty strokes for losing a ball on the par 3 17th. (Just a complete mishit) Delighted and felt like I couldn’t miss a putt and found a feel that made my driver stay between the ditches Onwards and upwards
  14. Golf has only restarted recently in Ireland so I have 6 rounds played. Played today and shot an 84 so’ I’m really hoping to Break 80. (This has been a goal for a while but really feel it’s in reach now) Shoot 85 or lower consistently. Get more confident with irons above an 8 iron. Improve my short game to have more up n downs
  15. No golf again for 6 weeks while we are in a lockdown, it was announced today that golf courses would have to close again after 48 hours of discussions between the golfing union of Ireland and the government. The golfing union of Ireland have let us down badly, it is easy to prove how golf is one of the safest activities out there and is the only outlet for so many people. I don’t know what I’m gonna suck at for the next 6 weeks 😂😂, in all seriousness though, devastated with the news today.
  16. I put mid 80’s although realistically that is probably a very good day lately. My expectations are high, I go out with the intention of breaking 80 even though my best is still 83. I’m not happy with anything over my handicap of 15. I’m not happy with my handicap at all to be honest. I feel I should be a lot lower by now especially with my distance
  17. Absolutely no problem with it, in Ireland we curse/swear a lot, I mean an awful lot. It’s very much normal, maybe it’s a blatant disregard for a language forced upon us but for whatever reason we do it a lot, so I wouldn’t even notice it let alone have a problem.
  18. Its more to do with those comments, I'm only surmising but it seems as if he thinks its over himself which is understandsble with his injuries etc. I hope I'm wrong, I'd love to see him win another but with the strength of the field now and his coming to an end I just can't see it, but like you said i likely would have said the same thing before the masters win
  19. I think he is asking a valid questiin, Tiger made some comments about ageing and it seems as though he is having doubts, I genuinely can't see him winning another major although id love to be wrong. If you gave me 10k to bet on him winning a major again or not, I would 100% put the money on him not winning another and that is no disrespect to everything he hss done in tne game, he is the Goat
  20. Holy incestuous role play mind games Batman
  21. Its an extra stiff 9 degree driver, not sure on the weight though
  22. I must post a video in my swing thread of hitting driver. I managed to win the comp at my home course the other day and I didnt hit a good drive until the 15th hole, I've lost all confidence with it. I'm not even hitting the centre of the face at all. I refuse to put it away and hit a 3 or 5 wood though, I'd feel like I'm giving up
  23. I abamdoned this experiment fairly quick. One bad hook scared me away lol but really what @iacas said about my grip being perfectly normal was enough to realise a grip change wasn't going to solve any problems.
  24. Played friday and won the open for the day, 37 stablefored points. Didnt actually play very well, scratched 3 holes and 4 putted a par 3 early on. I had 9 pars though soit was enough to win. I got cut a shot though so I'm off 14.7 now
  25. Ya it's quite surprising considering how easy it feels to play a round but ya, its a 6 mile walk at least with hills etc and with all the added swinging and pushing a cart for 3-4 hours it all adds up to a decent calorie burn.
