  1. I pretty much fell in love with it as well right when I made that first turn around the corner when the practice greens come into view. For someone who's current home course will NEVER be in that kind of shape it was amazing..lol.
  2. No problem! I think we are going to try and make it a once a month go to course for our group. It's such a different atmosphere there and I wanna learn that course more for sure! It's about a 1hr 20 minute drive for us, how about you? Well worth it imo!
  3. This beautiful golf club humbled me real quick over the weekend! My home course is in terrible shape and me and the guys decided we needed to go play a real course again. My god the greens murdered me and it was hilarious..not even upset about it either. I've played most of the courses around Gainesville and some near Lake City but this was the first time in over 10 years that I played what I'm going to call a proper golf course! Highly recommend this course if you are in Florida and near Dunnellon!
  4. It's IG so who knows what's been done this photo as far as editing goes but he's kinda getting to the point where his head is too big for his body imo. I am interested to see how well he will play this year with the life style changes before he turns 50 and moves onto the Champions Tour though!
  5. Thanks I'll give that a read and practice the different backswings next time I'm on the range, and yeah I definitely need to round out the bag! Got 4 more slots I can fill in the bag!
  6. Currently dealing with this issue and it's kinda driving me nuts because I feel like going to my range and hitting balls at/around the 100 yard flag is not doing me much good. Right now all I have is my PW and it's the tool I use from about 130 yards out for everything from full swings to green side short game work. My biggest weakness is the 3/4 or 1/2 swing PW...so if I had to guess that's anything from like 80-120 yards or something. For me anything under or around 80 yards is just a simple walk up to and hit to get it up on the green but then anything more than that up to around a full swing I'm just dropping the ball big time in this department and I'm finding myself in this territory on basically every par 4 except for longer ones or par 5s. Right now I'd rather hit a 5 iron into a green than a 3/4 PW!
  7. Good stuff! I'll get my hands on some in the near future and give them a whirl.
  8. How long have you been playing them and what did you have before Blades? Notice any kind of loss/gain in the handicap department?
  9. Maybe it does work for some, I just thought it was interesting because he hit the players irons/blades (smaller iron) better than the GI/SGI irons (more center of the face) as he stated in his comment.
  10. I was referring to hitting the center more maybe because of swinging a smaller iron head like @djake mentioned.
  11. Hearing your story about GI Irons vs Blades makes me wish I would have insisted on hitting some Blades when I went for my fitting. I hadn't played in a LONG time and told them that when I went in so I didn't even think about it at the time but honestly it's something that's always been in the back of my mind about Blades, the whole "have a smaller miss" thing since they are smaller. Which set did you end up going with?
  12. I went with 1-3 after giving a good amount of thought into it about my last couple rounds. Maybe my two rounds of 76 recently could warrant a 4-6 selection but at the end of the day I feel it's more like 1-3 for me right now, and then when I have a bad day it's most certainly 0!
  13. Not a video update but I did have my lesson a few weeks ago and have played a few rounds since that lesson, also made a post lesson thread but figure everything related to my game should be kept under my swing thread. A summary of what's happened since the lesson. Lowest score so far since playing again with a 76. Multiple rounds in the 70s. First Eagle since being back. Par 5, hit a 205-210 4i to 8ft and made the putt. This was a nice morale boost. Distance gained across the board. A summary of what my issues were. Grip, working on getting use to the grip being in my fingers vs too much palm. Address/stance, eve though I was square to the target with my feet, I was way open to the target with my shoulders. Was not following through and/or finishing my swing strong. So now I try to always finish strong even if the shot is not perfect. Ball position in stance with irons. Was too far forward most of the time. Closing summary - I feel good about all the little things coming together. Getting the eagle this past weekend was a nice confidence booster as far as seeing improvement on the golf course goes. Up until this point that hole was ALWAYS a Driver and then a 3W for me. Being able to reach it with a 4i was a pretty big deal and something new for me. Hope this trend continues!
  14. Yeah I think it's time to go look/hit some new drivers and get a proper shaft dialed in. I believe you are correct. The 3W with the added shaft weight feels a lot more solid overall as well.
  15. I would go somewhere with a LOT of putters to get your hands on and try them ALL until something clicks with you.
  16. How does shaft weight impact a shot? Example, I've got a TaylorMade Burner and the shaft is 50 grams..pretty much a feather. Back in the day I would drive off the tee with my 3W because I hit it just as far..this was odd to me and I started looking at the two clubs and discovered that the shaft on the 3W is 75 grams. I've not put much thought into this whole situation since I've been playing again but now that I'm nit picking my game I'm wondering about it again. Do you guys have heavier shafts on your driver?
  17. Almost all the newer irons are lofted stronger these days. More loft generally translates to easier to hit but I'm sure it's different for everyone. I've recently upgraded to newer irons and my old irons didn't even have a true 4i or 5i, they were hybrids. Not having any issues at all hitting my 4i/5i with the new set.
  18. Everything. I have a tendency to get real quick with the tempo of my swing. For me it's a feeling of releasing the energy of the club through the ball and really finishing strong rather than coming up out of my swing where everything looks like it stops for a split second (at-least that's what it looked like when I took some video of the swing). Maybe the better word would be rotating through the ball rather than releasing through the ball.
  19. Yeah it was working for me fine during the lesson. It was one of those things I kinda forgot about from my previous lessons like 10 years ago. I also get in trouble when my tempo gets fast, big thing for me right now is slowing down and getting that club square through impact. If I get too fast and leave it all open we are going to be out to the right in Narnia.
  20. Lol I know I know. It's such a simple thing :|
  21. Got my first lesson in over the weekend since playing again and it was great. This first lesson was a swing evaluation to see where I'm at, my tendencies, etc, etc. When I go back he is going to have me hit while recording data on a flight-scope so that will be fun and informative! I learned a lot about the cause and effect of the things I'm doing and I'm just pleased over-all with the whole experience! Currently will be working on a stronger grip, aligning my shoulders to my target line (I was really, really open to my target line with my shoulders), releasing through the ball and finishing strong to feel that full follow through. It's amazing how a few simple things can impact a golf shot!
  22. He seems so out of place in this "Vanity" piece they are doing before the Tournament with the rest of the guys, and all he seems to be able to talk about is the money.
  23. Justin Thomas just went mental...that was a pleasure to watch!
  24. Don't remember the first time I broke 80 since it was over 10 years ago when I stopped playing, but since I started playing again this past June I broke 80 on 8/4/19 with a 78. It felt good but now it's time to buckle down and really dig into some specifics about my game/swing to get better.
  25. Showed the swing to a few people and it was suggested that I work on the backswing. So right now I'm trying to shorten it up a bit, been practicing the "lead/left arm parallel" shots. Going to hit a lot of balls at the range this weekend using this drill.
