  1. I just wear regular pants. Pleated or flat front, and most any color works as long as it is coordinated with your shirt and accesories. Most of the time the only difference I have seen in "golf pants" is some of them have an extra little pocket on them or some material may be breathable, but not much else.
  2. better than an infomercial for "the HAMMER" POWWWW!
  3. Quote:wrx_junki Doesn't seem like the courses over here have any cart covers. Do your courses provide them along with the heater? Na, I purchased my own cover and picked the heater up second hand at a yard sale for like $25 or $30 (like new) they all seem to retail for $80 and up, so I thought it was a good deal. If your winter lasts mor than 3 months, then it's not a bad investment. Covers cost about $100.
  4. how can you page the posts like on the other site. I used to use J and K to page up and down. It made scrolling through posts easier for me. Thanks.
  5. The wind would be my only restricting factor. Otherwise I toss the cart cover on, fire up the heater, and play golf. I stay completely warm and toasty for the entire round except for the minute or two I get out to hit the ball. 20's are no problem with a little heat.
  6. Don't trust anybody (especially SO CALLED friends) I use trees, carts, and such to hide behind if I am down range of any shots. H*ll I have seen them go backwards, so 180 degrees is not safe.
  7. If you are spending $500 the get fit for the clubs and hit some demos. I'm sure you would be better suited for a GI or SGI type club. As for the lie angle, that refers to the angle of your swingplane (the sole of the club) relative to ground. The taller you are the more upright clubs tend to be and the shorter the golfer the flatter the tendency in the lie. You seem to have lie and loft confused. The more you increase the loft of a club then the higher the balls trajectory will be.
  8. I have two GPSs collecting dust in my cabinet now, since I purchased my laser. I wish I had purchased it first, I would have saved the money from the two GPS units for other gear. No the laser unit does not keep score but it is so much easier to use, numbers are more accurate, and I can measure distances of things a GPS can't. The only drawback on the laser is it is line of sight. If you must get a GPS the SG5 and SGX are good choices, though the subscriptions are annoying.
  9. Welcome, there's a lot of nice folks here and good information too. Hope you stay a while.
  10. I play a really ugly set (Ping G10s) and occasionally sport a really sexy set (Mizuno MP32s) so I get to enjoy both ends of the spectrum.
  11. 6'5" and 255lbs.
  12. Yes I do! We have a nice long hunting season here in SC for deer Aug 15 - Jan 1. We hunt hogs, rabbit and turkey as well.
  13. I'm back playing some, but am having a small issue. I seem to hit all of my shorter clubs well, but can seem to get any distance from my longer clubs. I play an 8I on a 160y par 3, but have been only hitting my driver 230y. range. It really sucks. I'm about 40 yards short of where I was normally. I would be happy to get back to the 250 range. Any suggestions on where to start. Sorry no video available. I know the longer clubs swing on a flatter plane, but the longer clubs just don't feel quite right.
  14. For anyone who plays the Wilson Staff c-25 ball. Academy Sports has them on sale for $14.89 a doz. Not a bad price for a 3 piece ball. They play pretty well for me, they seem to have good spin and control. I picked up a few dozen for my stash.
  15. I play a lot of night time par3 tournaments, and it is quite suprising how often clubs throw sparks, even from what we think of as a clean lie. Interesting light show at night. The sparks are even more obvious when the humidity is low. A fire from this, possible; but the circumstances and conditions would have to be entirely condusive to promote ignition. The heat energy carried by the tiny sparks is so minute, it would take like I said a perfect senario. Though nothing is out of the question.
  16. .32, .357 Mag., .357 Sig., .38, .380, 9mm., .40 S&W;, .44 Spl. and Mag. or .45 ACP (my personal favorite) Choices! Choices! I'm glad I live in a state where I can choose what I want to carry and where I wan't to carry, on a course if I feel it necesary. The thing everyone must remember above all other things relative to self preservation is "DON'T TRUST ANYBODY". If you ever let your guard down, the entire US Army couldn't help you. That is why I support carry rights, the police are only useful after the fact.
  17. a starter set and lessons is the way to go. when he gets his swing worked out and gets settled in, then he may look into a club fitting and some premium equipment. Sounds like he is on the right track.
  18. i played a couple I found and they are as long as prov1x's and they check better that pro v's. I wore those two out, and plan to pick up some new ones. High handicappers may not like them as well.
  19. I always liked the phrase "Grip the club with equal and opposite pressure" This has always seemed to be true when the proper grip/hand positions are used.
  20. No, he actually ran over to the flag to pull the stick. He was at least 15 feet away when the ball was hit. I appreciate the quick answers. Thanks Guys.
  21. We were playing a two man best ball tournament, and I was playng a short chip from off of the green. When the shot landed and started rolling, one of the players (who is rather new to golf) from another team grabbed the flag and pulled it as the ball approached the hole. The ball had alraedy started falling into the hole when the end of the flag being pulled out of the cup popped the ball back out of the hole. Had the pin been left alone we would have scored a birdie on the hole, but we wound up with par. I understand there was nothing we could do about our score, but I also know I read somewhere that the person who pulled the flag (without being asked to tend) would be penalized a number of strokes. I know iacas will be able to answer this. Just for intrest and conversation, the guy's team who pulled the pin were not assessed any penalty, and won the tournament by 1 stroke. I could not argue what the penalty if any should be assessed, but really felt sh!t on since we finished one stroke out of the money. I have no hard feelings towards the guy (as I honestly believe he didn't know any better)so I just went home knowing what goes around comes around, especiallly in golf. Thanks in advance.
  22. Ping Karsten C-67, it's not a milled face, but is well balanced and has a great feel. Putts very good for $80
  23. Thanks to you guys for the ideas. I'm not going to give up, but I will have to try and figure out a way to get round the issue. I don't think all (double_j)here understand why this is an issue, I am not looking for pity. I am frustrated and only looking for ideas to help me find my way back in my golf game. Quitting is only a last resort, and only if I lose the enjoyment of the game. Just so everyone understands, I was virtually blind in my left eye already due to poor eyesigh and an injury many years ago. My new problem was caused by the loss of sight in my "good" eye. This vision loss was caused by a retinal embolism. Currently, outside 90-100 yds I can't distinguish the flag from the surroundings without a sighting device. Now back to golf. I have been working hard on putting. Not too bad until I get outside of 10 feet or so. Outside of that then everything tends to go left, as do all of my other shots. I understand that the brain triangulates the line of sight from each eye and compensates accordingly to provide a true line of sight. When I set up over a shot, my alignment feels good and looks right. Then I lay a club across my shoulders to check it and its way left. I adjust for the alignment, then my mind tries to compensate the swing because the correct alignment doesn't look correct. It's INSANE! Again guys, thanks for all the positive input.
  24. I "was" a 10 HI, now I am frequenting +100 rounds. I still hit my driver, irons and wedges well. My problem is with distances. I just recently lost my eyesight in my right eye and am right eye dominant, so this has really screwed up my depth perception. So my short game is all to hell. Has anyone else experienced this issue, and what could I possibly do to find a feel for distance in the less than 50 yrd. game. Frustration has really put a damper on the fun I used to have. I don't want to quit golf, but I am almost ready to. Any input on the subject is appreciated.
  25. Elin might not be there, but one of his ladies of the evening is planning to be there. Heard that on the news last night. Hmmm. Wonder if she will join him on the 18th. if he wins? That could be quite distracting.
