I'd be fine with almost anywhere but I'm in Louisville so I'm pretty dead center. I was thinking that if we were looking for a mid point, E-town or BG might be best when you consider Paducah to Ashland, etc. But I'm itching to play some of those Lex courses.

We should all have a little thesandtrap.com KY outing sometime. Seems to be a lot of us on here.

77-70 147. +5. pga.com has the leaderboard, and Golf channel is showing parts of the round later tonight.
-
Entries for the contest ended on Saturday, but today was only the second round.

Nice round by Dave today to make the cut on the number. 33 on the second nine. Good luck on the "weekend" boys.

I'm gonna say 293. If you get an extra day, you should head down to Louisville for an impromptu clinic... just kidding of course. Good luck guys.

The Zero Latitude is on Golf Channel right now... first I've seen it. It's classic. I love how with the Hammer, Jack says driving is the most important part of the game... now it's putting. I think I also caught a comment that since Jack can putt now, "I'm gonna be shooting right about 60!" "Take it back only 1 inch for a 4 footer... 2 for an 8." Then when they show the four footers with a normal putter, they're at least 10 footers. Oh well... 4 footers are automatic gimmies now! Worst part is... I actually thought to myself, "I wonder if that works?" If Al Geiberger says so and all...

Hey Erik, when you say this, you mean aiming the face to the right at address, correct? So basically just opening the face and regripping? Working on more S&T; techniques my miss has become a "straight draw/mild hook" but when I try to manipulate the face to stay open on the downswing I usually just hit a push.

Old news, but Tiger's 3W on 18 was unbelievable. Definately announced that his game is back in shape. That being said, the putt on 17 was near as impressive... I'm a big Watson fan so I'm biased, but I'm impressed by him once again in coming off that 78 with a 71 and a 70. If he had made a couple 4 footers on Thursday he'd be in much better shape. Like Havret's game as well. Just like everyone else my pick for the week was Dustin Johnson but I definately see these two coming back to the field at some point tomorrow, ala Barnes and Glover in 09. Should be a great Father's Day Sunday.

Can't hit irons in the air or hit them long...help

What's up JJ! Long time no see. I echo what people are saying about your setup. Check some threads around here for advice, there's a ton of good info. There's a good drill in Golf magazine this month about setup - basically, stand up straight with your knees barely bent, butt behind your heels (which you obviously are already doing). Hold a club parallel to the ground behind your legs (letting your arms hang free) and then bend down from the waist. Once your weight shifts slightly to the balls of your feet, your body is in a solid setup position. Let your arms hang straight down and grip the club. Not sure if it's perfect, but it's helped me get back to basics with the setup lately. -
How far up do you tee the ball? What could be happening is that when you address the ball your driver is on the ground. When you take your swing, the driver is off the ground, which slightly moves the clubhead away from you. Does that make sense? Depends on your swing and all, and hand position at impact, but it could be something to do with it.

My buddy played HS golf against him in Evansville and said he was a total prick in HS. Cocky, smart alec, entitled on the course, etc. However, nowadays he roots for him just because of the circumstances of playing against him once upon a time. But yeah... spoiled frat boy is the impression I get not only from watching him, but from my buddies memories of competition as well.

The ol' #9 is legit! Nice going and good luck with the new stick. I love mine.

I agree, but Romo's legit though. Two under today put him in a playoff to advance to sectionals. Haven't heard if he made it or not yet.

Thanks SAM. I definately feel like an idiot about the flex thing! I think I was a little too sensitive to the fear of lengthening the clubs affecting the "relative" flex level. Any chance, if you get a second, you could explain the counter rotation? I've been trying to work on not taking the club back inside, but it feels like I always catch the ball thin or push fade the crap out of the ball if I bring it back a little more "vertical", although I don't think I'm getting the hands deep enough at those times (or with this takeaway as well). Thanks man.

Thanks man. I hope someone does, looking forward to figuring that out. Thanks again.

Finally got a decent camera and some decent video. Got my clubs extended the other day and been spending some time at the range. Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks! Driver: 6 iron: One more question... Should I be ok getting that much flex as an amateur? I've seen pics of pros, specifically one picture I can remember of Tiger, with much more flex than that, but not sure which club. I knew that lengthening my clubs would make them "more flexible," but I've never noticed that much action before and I'm worried I might be getting too much now, although I'm also sure that should be the least of my worries when it comes to my swing. I'm aware of the counter production it can cause if the clubhead is "going in reverse" aka the shaft is beginning to straighten back up... Right now I've got Project X 5.5's in there. My avg. driver swing speed is around 104... at least according to the golf simulator at the local golf galaxy. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Never would have seen this without the post, so THANKS a ton. Love Tom Watson. Great interview and great insight. Thanks again.

Sam Saunders missed with a 69 today. I think he's the first alternate though.
-
I'm rooting for Westwood but I could easily see him throwing up a 74. Despite the shaky first, I think Glover might do something today.
-
Not to hijack your thread with a question, but is there a link, etc to this drill?

Congrats fellas.

Another thing... I mentioned I don't normally follow the Nationwide... I couldn't believe how many names and former very decent golfers are playing this weekend and I assume on the Nationwide tour. Lickliter, Len Mattiace, Esteban Toledo, Steve Pate, Jason Gore, Stankowski, Jonathan Kaye, Bob May, Brendt Jobe, Skip Kendall...

I'm not really on board with "I can't beat LT" Jerry taking a spot in the field, but I was actually pretty impressed that he put together a decent back 9 (at least until the 9th, which was his last hole). Any thoughts? I respect his competitiveness and as my buddies have told me all day, if someone presented me this opportunity I'd probably take it as well, but if he really thought he had a chance to make the cut he had to be crazy. A 3ish handicapper has no business being in a Hooters tour field let alone the Nationwide. Although, I followed this first day more than any other Nationwide tournament combined, at least since Jason Gore was tearing it up. Hopefully he takes something from this and waits until his game is legit before he comes back out for what will probably be the CHampions Tour at that point (if ever). Any thoughts? Anyone watch?

Just out of curiosty, does any one know the name of or where I can find the music that CBS is using to go to commercial? Not "Augusta" by Dave Loggins, but the kinda upbeat string ensemble they're playing, usually over the leaderboard or some action shots of the leaders right before commercial. Thanks.
