    Smoking!

definitely a UK person Smoke them fags. Whats more hilarious is the US call stealing a cigarette 'Bumming'. So, if from the UK and incorporating US lingo and UK slang, if you dont have a smoke you ask: Can I bum a fag? Wrong in many ways.

    Smoking!

I'm intrigued to know who smokes on tour. Jimenez is often seen on the course smoking a cigar, but who else on tour smokes on the course? You never see the pro's smoking anymore, which is a good thing. Anyone got any inside knowledge?
  3. Poulter looks like an idiot
  4. Walk the course. Don't use a buggy
  5. i use the BBC.
  6. 1. Tom 2. Freddie 3. Sandy I can dream :)
  7. Tommy Watson!!! Sandy, Freddie and Bernard! Bring on the greats!!
  8. After back surgery you are doing well! Keep it up! you obviously practice a lot, so you will reap the rewards, especially now we have the new season starting with better conditions on the course. Enjoy Gareth
  9. Dude, Very cool! Nothing better than a loved one showing you love and support on the course! it' a must. The game is a completely different experience, and one, I'd hope, that you'd find for the better!
  10. Sometimes it is Psychological. Going to the tips and understanding your own game, you played with a slightly more carefree attitude. Not as much pressure. This can have the opposite affect. But, looking at your Cap, the players with you wouldn't have expected you to ping everything perfectly, thus you subconsciously knew that? The fact you played well, and you enjoyed it, however you look at it, it's is a good round of golf. Congratulations!
  11. I always found it a strange concept. Surely you should have evryone buy you a drink ;)
  12. You make a good point. I abhor waiting too long to play a shot. Too many practice swings, too much time to think. Another reason why I like to walk the course. irrespective of what I've said, its interesting what DavidFehertysBike mentioned. Is it mandatory to play with a cart at some courses in the states?
  13. 1. Enter more competitions. 2. play as many courses as possible. 3. Return to a single figure handicap. 4. Consistent putting!
  14. Do the majority of everyone here play golf with a cart? I have played using one, but prefer to walk the course as it gives me a better balance and feel for the course. i have more time to think about the shots a head. Playing with a cart makes me feel like i'm rushing the course. Any thoughts?
  15. I don't see how they're different at all. Regardless, it's speculative. The point is, if they were playing at their best, with similar technology, which they were comfortable with, the match would be a helluva game!
  16. Agreed. heh, heh! Absolutely! Enjoy Gareth
  17. It happens. Don't be annoyed. Get back out on the course. Golf is one of those sports. So many elements make up a compound fracture :)
  18. In that case you will lose. The handicap system is there for a reason. It like asking a 10 year old to play trivial Pursuit when you've had a lifetime of education. Out of interest how has this game come about? Is he a work collegue?

    Would You?

Poor form Dasportsguy. You are young. I'm sure you live at home with your parents and don't have a true understanding of money. That reads in a patronising way. But i have always given in clubs. When you pull out the club from your bag, you will always think "ahh the club i pinched" You have many years of golf a head of you. Wouldn't you like to see a club returned to you when you were distracted by the fact you are putting for a 8 on on a par 4 ? Age gets the better of us, dude! Think again when you 'try to do the best you can.' Give it to the pro shop :))
  20. With the greatest of respect, you have a 14-15 handicap. Tee to green is hugely important. I always think back to Leadbetters advice. Swing the club three times a day. Go into your back garden, swing the club. Repetition is key. Disclaimer: Leadbetter, in my opinion destroyed Faldo's swing. He would have had far more victories if it wasn't for leadbetter. Disclaimer: Faldo wanted him to deconstruct his swing.
  21. DON'T TRY AND BEAT HIM!!!!! As has been mentioned, play YOUR game! Relax, you're in the best position of being the underdog. This person is the one under pressure, i assume you're playing to HC? Thus he has to give you strokes on holes in relation to the stroke index. Its far easier for you to hit par and be 1 under for your HP, than for him to make birdie when you make par to levell the hole, right? Thats where you have the upper hand. Enjoy the round, and learn from watching him. More often than not, the lower handicappers are happy to give advice. It feeds there ego. :) Enjoy your round Gareth
  22. When people ask my handicap i say: "The clubs". (ooold joke) However, The range will normally have mats. The mats are very forgiving compared to whatever lie you deal with on the course. Try to practice on the course if you can. This involves mid-week golf! Replace all divots etc. You all know this. :)
  23. [/QUOTE] poor kid
  24. Hello! Not from the states, on the other side of the pond. Playing golf for 20 years, but you wouldn't know it. Love the game, could certainly say I'm addicted. Looking forward to Augusta which is looming ever closer "mhmm, Augusta". It's like the thought of a beautiful woman, or a fine wine. Or crack. depends what floats ya boat
  25. True. You're also playing your opponent rather than the course. Different pressure.
