  2. It is very difficult to give you a definitive answer as there are so many variables. Training AIDS have there uses but are somewhat limited if you want to improve there are some things you need. 1 Is you need to educate yourself on the fundamentals of the golf swing, how do you do that I did it by having lessons with a PGA pro and continue to do so. The more knowledge you have and understand about your swing the better IMHO. 2 you will need to practise and be smart about how you practise, your pro can help you with this. Don't beat yourself up about your golf it's a very, very hard game. Remember your good swings and forget the bad ones.
  3. I have to say that players who have the length to play a course have a great advantage. After suffering some Major health problems which have had residual effects I have lost a lot of distance I still have a good short game and putt well, but my handicap continues to climb because I can't reach enough GIR.
  4. You seem like a mature young person who is asking themselves what I would say are all the right questions. You say you feel that you have missed out on a lot of experience by not taking the game up sooner then you say you are 14 yrs old. I wish I had taken to game up at your age and I am sure that a lot of people on here will say the same. Look at it as a journey this is you setting out on a adventure you have a destination in mind and you have set out how your going to get there. What happened s along the way who can tell, the only thing that is required from you is that you try your best in everything you do and be honest to yourself. Feeling that you are at a disadvantage because of not taking the game up earlier to me is not an issue, you are young enough to make that up.You still have a rate of growing to do and you wont reach your potential until mid to late twenty's,that could be 10 to 15 yrs from now and you will still be considered young. Thats is 10-15 yrs of developing where you will be able to Judge for yourself if you are good enough along with the people that you trust. And yes there are such things as late developers and there are people who burn out to soon. you can only control what you do,let other people have their own journeys. Good Luck.
  5. Maybe he's had to much to soon, very difficult to compete when your not physically up to it. the lads still growing things are changing for him. You sound like your doing the right things for him, only thing I would say is don't push to hard. As a junior organiser I saw young lads make great strides with their game then come to a standstill for a while many times that's what they do. Good Luck.
  6. Not sure that the numbers add up, but as long as your enjoying yourself.
  7. I saw the SLDR iron in our pro shop they reminded me of my ap2 s they have the kbs tour 90 shafts in as standard.
  8. Here in the uk the number of people that smoke has declined dramatically . I hardly see anyone smoking out on the courses I play, and you can count on your hand the number of people who leave the bar to go outside to smoke. I have never seen anyone chew tobacco it just does not happen here.
  9. Not advice as such but have a look on youtube for Mo Norman, he used a palm based grip and he was one of the straightest hitters of a golf ball.
  10. You need to set up for the driver somewhat different to the irons, try moving the ball forward (towards the target) opposite you left heal. drop the right shoulder an inch or so. Lots to learn good luck. Maybe try a lesion from a pro like you did with tennis?
  11. At your currant level I would play it as an easy par 5. don't put yourself under pressure to par it every time.
  12. Make sure your leading with your hands/grip through the ball.
  13. Learn the game backwards. Watch the club head hit the ball.
  14. Get yourself a handicap and enter your clubs comps/tournaments/ first, it's a lot different that social golf.
  15. Stop shouting :)
  16. One thing that worked for me and still does is to lead the grip/hands through the ball first. That way you can't cast the club.
  17. Did you have to pay good money to enter ? if so you deserve the right to play by the same rules. I would not be happy.
  18. Start a thread in the Members Swing section.
  19. I see a lot of young people putting pressure on themselves to do well in comps and when they don't they beat themselves up, when they hit a poor shot they beat themselves up. This game is very difficult it's no wonder there is so much written about it by so many experts. As has been suggested don't forget to enjoy yourself, see the game and your development as an adventure. You will get more bad days than good if you become super critical of yourself and your ability or lack of development. Enjoy the game for what it is, a walk in the park, and consider yourself lucky to be able to be out there. I work with 16 year old young people with medical needs who don't have a long life expectancy, I count my blessings every day that I can pick my clubs up and go and enjoy the company of my mates. Good luck whatever you do.
  20. Do you mean Harvey Penick's Little Red Book ?
  21. Work on your technique a little more as they say feel is not real but you won’t get any feel if your technique is not right. Why not try to start your practice with a full swing and then go onto chipping/putting.
  22. dak4n6 Thank you for that you are a gentleman.
  23. Spazz is a derogatory word for someone who was once called spastic usually someone who has cerebral palsy and is unable to coordinate their movements. Please try to find another word that may describe your own lack of coordination, I find this one offensive and so will many other people.
