My girlfriend figured out the hard way that eBay has a time restriction on filing for fraudulent claims.. check what the time frame is and if you still are inside of it, file a claim and PayPal or eBay's fraud protection insurance should kick in. I bought my Mizuno's from eBay but from a seller with 99.9% positive feedback that had been on eBay since the 90's. Due diligence goes a long way on that website. Good luck and I'm sorry to hear about your situation.

Adams CB2 vs Mizuno JPX 800 Pro
anotherday replied to anotherday's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Another update on the new clubs: For some reason I took a bit of time off from my regular golf routine (roughly 3 rounds a month with up to 6 or 7 range sessions) almost immediately after getting my new clubs. As a high handicapper that doesn't really matter usually, but I was going from my Callaway x18r's to these JPX 800 Pros which required a bit more precision when it came to making the ball go where I wanted. Needless to say, my first few rounds with these games were a bit rough. Not far off my usual high 90's scores, but there were some bad ones. I debated whether or not I just spent hundreds of dollars on clubs that were outside my skill level. Buyer's remorse was setting in and I was reminded of it with every fat shot I hit and every slice and hook. My problem was that I didn't practice with my new clubs enough to expect results - and really.. I think I was lucky to not be far off of my average score. As I got back to the range and got on the course more frequently, my shots improved and my confidence returned. When my swing is technically sound, the clubs turn a good shot into a great shot. The feeling, as I've mentioned all over this forum, is still amazing. To be able to swing a club and immediately grab for the tee and walk off of the tee box knowing that my shot was good without even seeing it land is great. Broke into the 80's today for the first time and my irons were on fire. If you are looking into new clubs and can get your hands on these to demo, do yourself a favor and give them a try. They were not on my radar one bit but you can't beat the reviews and you certainly can't beat the feeling the first time you hit a pure shot off of these. These were first recommended by one of the professional instructors at my local golf shop and he described these best when he said: These are the only irons that you'll ever need. -
problems choosing between jpx 800 pro and jpx

1st: Not exactly sure if this warranted a 3rd (by my count, possibly more) new thread that is discussing the same topic as the previous ones. 2nd: If you were fitted for JPX 800's then what would make you decide to go against the Pro's suggestion? Granted, pros aren't always correct, if he/she did an honest analysis of your swing and suggested a certain club then maybe there is some solid reasoning behind it. In my opinion, my JPX 800 Pros are the only clubs I'll need from here on out. These clubs open up the doors to different shapes and trajectories of shots that I didn't feel like I got with my previous set of clubs that were more forgiving. I did hit the 800's but I hated the sound that it made at contact. This could just have been an issue with the specific club I used, but it just sounded horrible and eventually felt like I was hitting a rock. That being said, the ball went nice and straight and my results were better than my current set of clubs at the time. In the end it comes down to personal preference and you can't find out the quirks or the pros/cons of a certain set without demo'ing the clubs at the range and certainly on the course. In my case, the clincher for the JPX 800 Pros was a 6 iron out of the rough that felt amazing. The thinner sole of the club slid through the rough with ease and the shot soared straight at the green. Demo these clubs and use them as much as possible. If you only can demo a single club from each set, then use them for as many shots as you can. Compare lofts to make sure that if you are hitting a club a longer it is because of performance and not because of stronger lofts. -
Everyone has their own opinion.. The only confusing part about the playoffs that I can see is the points system. Sure, I can look at a run-down of who gets X amount of points for their finish .. but when the casual golf watcher sees that the difference between 1st place and 5th place is 1,842 points it gets a little ridiculous. This reminds me of the point system that NASCAR had in place until just recently. The points were reduced (even though they still represent a roughly proportional amount to the previously inflated numbers) and now people feel like there is a bit more excitement in the chase for the cup. In sports like Golf and NASCAR, you really have to attempt to appeal to people that would otherwise have no interest in watching. These industries understand that their product will appeal more to the golfers and the racing enthusiasts out there, but they certainly can not become the type of businessmen that would suggest to a casual fan, "If you think it's boring or not compelling enough for you, watch something else??" -- (Thanks for indulging my NASCAR comparison... )

where should I go to have my clubs re-gripped?
anotherday replied to jgreen85's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Just regripped two putters with a roadside tire inflater.. maybe used about 40-50psi to get the fresh tape loose from my new TM Ghost Spider.. the older the putter the less bond it seemed because the Odyssey putter grip from 2 years back just blew right off. You just need the inflater to get the grips off once you hear the air break through the bottom end of the grip then you know you're good to start wiggling off the grip. The plus with this is that if the new grip you put on just doesn't work out for you, you still have the old one to go back to in the mean time. And you might even get away with returning the new grip you bought. Check youtube for some good videos on how to do this. A few videos show a $35 adapter you can purchase but that is unnecessary. All of that being said - if you don't want to do it yourself.. any golf store can do it for you for a few bucks a club.. -
There are plenty of reviews here on the JPX 800 Pros and the Burner 2.0. I use the JPX's and I love them. Clean look, amazing feel from anywhere, and if you are one that hits that sweet spot consistently then you will love what you feel at impact. I can't deny the great reviews that the Burner's have gotten though. There has to be some magic in them for such a large amount of people that swear by them. Swing some demos during a round and then when you settle on a set of irons come back here and ask about places to get good prices on them. Got mine off of eBay for $550 instead of the $799 they were selling for. Burner 2.0's have stronger lofts on their irons than the JPX's. This may or may not mess with your current configuration. Here is the breakdown between these two clubs: Loft Comparison: 3i 4i 5i 6i 7i 8i 9i PW AW/GW SW LW Burner 2.0 19 21 24 27 31 35 40 45 50 55 60 JPX 800 Pro 20 23 26 29 33 37 41 45 50 N/A N/A Hope this helps. Good luck with the search.

Adams CB2 vs Mizuno JPX 800 Pro
anotherday replied to anotherday's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
You know.. in my search I did catch that something was up with the CB2's. The golf shop only had the CB1's in stock for demos and they said they would not be getting any CB2's to demo. I'm guessing that on the business side of it they might not have been as profitable as Adams wanted them to be. A few months after getting my JPX 800 Pros and I still love them. My game has gone in the dumps due to school and funds hindering my practice time, but I think that once I get my swing tweaked I'll be back and breaking some personal bests. The feel on these clubs is still amazing. I completely agree with trying to slow down the swing and make solid contact on the sweet spot. The first time you hit a ball flush is really a breakthrough moment. My first shot demo'ing these clubs was a flush shot that hooked me and I'm glad to see the same results throughout the set. Also, after a few months of use, they still look great. Can't say enough about these bad boys. -
20+ handicappers hitting 300 yards (mild rant)
anotherday replied to extremeld's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
JB Holmes was doing this while having cerebral issues which specifically affect his balance. He'll be going under the knife soon for brain surgery. Just shows how amazingly skilled these Tour players are and more specifically how talented he is to be able to overcome a physical hindrance to a key part of his game and remain so dominant off the tee. -
I remember reading one blog where the person suggested fixing 5 ball marks on every green you go to. 5 could be a bit much for time constraints, but the idea is a pretty good one. While you wait for others to putt and after you've done your green reading, go do some cleanup on the greens... people will appreciate it.

Quote: Tried blowing the grips off with air but I don't think I had enough power behind it. What do you use to get them on and off? I'm thinking about trying a new putter grip but I don't want to slice up my current one.

It seems like things only got out of hand once you stooped to their level by leaving the pin out. There is no doubt that they were wrong, but the only difference between all three of your stories is that only one included a strong possibility of physical altercation and it was the one where you decided to fight poor golf etiquette with poor golf etiquette. Hands down you were in the right to confront them about hitting up on you guys. That is an extremely dangerous situation and people take it too lightly sometimes because the chance of hitting someone is rather small, but it is a very serious risk for a simple game. Like others said already: public golf can be ugly.. but it doesn't have to be if you catch these situations early and don't let them escalate. Patience grasshopper!

Trap totally filled with water, where do you drop?
anotherday replied to johnclayton1982's topic in Rules of Golf
88 or 85.. the great thing about shooting a good round is that you know that you could have done much better and you can see where you lost strokes. Good job and let us know when you break into the 70's! -
Struggled today with my irons
anotherday replied to Fowlerfan19's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I used to do this all of the time.. still do, but less frequently. What caused me to do it was that I was dipping my left shoulder during my backswing and basically changing my swing path to aim straight into the ground. I muscled it through but i think I could have fit my arm in some of the divots. If you aren't going to have an instructor help you then at least take a camera to the course (range or actual play) and get a look at what you're doing wrong. Post the video on the forum and you'll get your answer, plus some free advice (and some of it will be good advice!). Good luck.. and keep it up. Each milestone makes golf a brand new game. -
Scam and corporate irresponsibility... what to do?
anotherday replied to immts007's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Confrontation sucks, but you're clearly right. You should try to record the phone call and then send the recording (provided it has solid evidence) to the Golf Channel and local news agencies (and really anyone that will listen). I don't know if you guys caught the recording of a Verizon customer complaint a few years back regarding Verizon's misunderstanding of mathematics. http://verizonmath.blogspot.com/2007/08/original-recording-of-verizon-customer.html . Great example of catching a company admitting its ignorance on tape. If you don't get their representative admitting the issue or some other sort of evidence then it is a he-said they-said, even though there is a record of fraud. And more importantly, sound bytes play well on the news. Good luck and thanks for the heads up! -
Callaway uPro Recalled
anotherday replied to ControlJunkie's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Not surprising. Excellent decision by Callaway to own up to a mistake and not just ignore its failure and let unknowing consumers purchase it only to waste their money. Thanks for the heads up! -
How often should I be 1 putting?
anotherday replied to jshots's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Everyone eventually has to hit the green... I don't see how hitting the green in regulation more often would change how many putts you take. -
I need help with 6-15 foot putts
anotherday replied to Unforgiven93's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I've been working on trusting my line and my speed trying to strengthen this area of my game as well. Try reading the green and getting an idea of the speed the shot will require (with or without practice strokes - lately I'm without). Then step up to the ball and make your putt, but do not look up, keep your head down. You don't need to look up if you've done everything you wanted to do in your prep. Using this technique I've found my accuracy has gone up and my misses were tap-ins. -
It is funny... when people are just starting out, they are just happy to be playing. But the second they catch on to the game they seem to feel like the game owes them something and they get pissed about a blow up round. There is a saying... I'd rather cry in my BMW than smile on my bicycle... I guess to me.. I'd rather smile with my 23 handicap than cry with an 8 handicap.

Have you guys ever played with someone that is horribly slow? Now imagine if he was warned about being so slow previously.. and then on one hole he continues to take his time, yet manages to shoot a hole-in-one. Don't you think a penalty is in order, regardless of the circumstances? I don't think I'd let the guy celebrate one bit.. Great hole-in-one birdie dude.. People seem to be giving him some sort of credit and i'm guessing its either, 1) for being young, or 2) for getting a hole-in-one. Yet they disregard the fact that he was warned and was clearly the guilty party in the group. He isn't entitled to anything but a lesson learned.
-
Don't worry... I had to yell "Fore!" on the top deck of a range when I first started playing. I had a combination of teeing the ball too high and just sucking at golf and the ball flew behind me onto the putting green.
-
Wow... just slightly sexist. So.. women, regardless of skill just don't get to play back tees huh? Because they don't hit as far as a big grown man right? And senior citizens have had their chance to play back tees so they need to know that their time has come and gone and scoot to the front so you can enjoy your golf. Right? Nah you couldn't have possibly meant to post that.

Help with new iron sets! Mizuno, Nike, or Burner?
anotherday replied to cobras7's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
JPX-800 Pros... We've all said it a ton of times on here.. These were not even on our radar. You just can't deny the feel and the results you get from these clubs. These are the only clubs I'll need for quite some time. -
Mizuno JPX-800 Pros vs. Titleist AP1 710s
anotherday replied to brianm423's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Mizuno clubs were not on my radar at all... 2nd week with them and I love them. These clubs are sweet. Swing them at a store but you must take a demo 6i out to the course and feel it in action. If you decide on JPX 800 Pros, PM me and I'll give you the name of the seller i bought mine from on ebay. Legit clubs and $550 w/ free shipping and no tax.
