  1. I just bought some Softspikes Black Widow Tour Golf Spikes for the first time. I purchased them because they looked like they would not wear out quickly. Now that I have them, I am intrigued by the comfort settings and custom options. Has anyone used these before? What settings have you tried? How did you like them? Have you tried any of the custom options listed at the bottom of the Softspikes website? http://blackwidowtour.com/cms/index.php?s=comfort
  2. They look very similar to the G line. Does anyone have any specs on the K? I'd be interested in the differences. They must exist.
  3. Great club isn't in? Congrats on your purchase. I got a 19 degree a few weeks ago couldn't be happier.
  4. Titleist 909H is a half degree open.
  5. Nike Xtreme Golf. It's the one above their bottom rung - about $12 a glove. Very breathable but still soft. And not too expensive so I don't mind wearing them out quickly in the summer when it's 95+ out all the time.
  6. If it works for you, go for it.
  7. Have you considered both a hybrid and a 3I and ditching the 5W? I use a hybrid to gap my 3W and 3I. Allows me a little more versatility than a 5W IMO.
  8. Is there a golf reason you are looking to change? If you are changing to get more consistency, more control, more forgiveness, more distance, etc. etc, then go for it. Tread cautiously if you're changing just because you haven't been fit if you hit your current sticks well. The R7's are fairly new technology. I know a few people who have made changes and then not been as happy with their new, fit clubs. I don't think they realized how happy they were with their original set. Of course, I know people who made the change and have been very happy as well. I currently play R7's. Love them. But I was not fit, so I keep telling myself if I go get fit then I'll be able to play so much better. I've come close a few times. But to be honest, I hit my current R7's fine. Consistency in my woods and putting is where I need work. So I've stopped myself. Anyway, I'd say change equipment for specific golf reasons and try not to over think things.
  9. I ended up going with the Anser 2 a few months ago over the Scotty California Monterey. It was more the price for me than forgiveness, but I demoed at a local Golfsmith and not on a real green so who knows. I couldn't justify double the cost and didn't want to chance a Scotty fake on eBay. Anyway, about 10 rounds later and I couldn't be happier. I love my Ping! Great feel and goes where I intend to hit it. If I could only read a green...
  10. Hey now! I love my CG14's ;)
  11. I'm a fan of the '08 TM Burner also. Very forgiving and the ball launches high - even off the turf. Although you may want to consider a 17 deg. hybrid as well. I was demoing them the other day. According to the launch monitor, I was only about 5 yards short of my 3W with it. So I ended up buying a 19 degree to split the gap between my 3W and 3I. We'll see if that distance holds on the course. Another option to consider is a 4W, then a hybrid, and then go into your irons.
  12. maybe we viewed not because we have tried this club but because we had the same question.
  13. putting is all about comfort and confidence. well, it's really about confidence and comfort leads to confidence. so go with what feels good to you - what gives you the confidence to hit your line. don't worry about your swing. you're likely not pulling or pushing as much as you think. i can't tell you how many times i've watched someone putt when they think they have pushed or pulled but have not. in reality they just read the green wrong. when you are putting, you do not have a good view of the beginning of your roll. a "push" or "pull" if often times a bigger early break than you saw. when you stand behind the putter, you can observe this. so to net it out, my advice is to go with what you're comfortable with. don't over-think your stroke. and practice, practice, practice your green reading.
  14. how about in thick forest? let me know when they make that ball
  15. AAAA works great for me. You can barely notice the difference on most balls between AAAAA and AAAA. Not worth the extra cost to me. I haven't tried AAA yet. For the balls I play, I am happy paying $10-$12 for AAAA.
  16. As with any club, go hit it for yourself and see. I, for the life of me, can't hit the G15 consistently well. I've really enjoyed the R9 when I demoed it. I almost bought one last summer but got too good a deal on the tour burner to pass up.
  17. sounds like a good myth busters episode :P
  18. Don't forget about the CG14's. A great deal at their current price.
  19. I have been playing the HX Bite's for a few years now. I like them a lot. Not a bunch of spin off the driver which is good when I'm having a "slice day". But still plenty soft enough around the greens and I can stop them just fine. I tend to play the old HX Hot Bites more because I get them used. I have tried some new sleeves of the HX Bite (2010 model), and I do prefer them. They don't scuff as easily as the older ones. I also just started playing the E6. I actually like them slightly better than the HX Bite's, although it's not by much. They are very similar balls IMO. I think the Callaway has a little more driver spin. I can stop them both on the greens just fine. If lostgolfballs was not sold out of AAAA E6, I may totally skipped the Callaway's on my most recent order.
  20. I tried the new 2010 e6 on my last two rounds. I noticed no distance loss as compared to the balls in my signature. In my first round, I noticed it rolled out more than anticipated. In my second round, I was able to stop the ball. The greens were pretty hard in round 1 and fairly soft in round 2. So I'm thinking the truth is somewhere in between. I did notice less side-spin on my drive as advertised. Although I could still slice it nasty if I really missed :) All-in all, the jury is still out. But I'm leaning towards making it a regular in my bag.
  21. well let me be the first to say THANKS!
  22. Be careful of this approach. I do the same thing. On days my driver is way right, I pull out my 4I on the tee, and it works well. I can keep it on the fairway. I found that if I try my 3I, I start to go right again. Not as much as my driver, but it tends to drift off the fairway. It is strange to me that 2° of loft is the point where I get enough sidespin to go right (could just be a mental thing), but I've found I'm 50/50 with my 3I where I'll hit my 4I good 90% of the time. I would demo a 3I on the range before you buy it and are stuck.
  23. I've observed the prices vary often between a dollar or so cheaper or more expensive. I think it's all supply and demand - depends on how many orders they receive, how many new balls they find, etc.
  24. I've purchased both AAAAA and AAAA. I settled on AAAA. Barely a mark or two. Every now and then I get one that I would consider AAA. More often, I get balls I would consider AAAAA. I've been using lostgolfballs.com now for almost a year and I'll never go back. I've bought Titletest, Callaway, and TaylorMade balls. All with the same results. Shipping is pretty quick too.
  25. lostgolfballs.com. makes everything a value :) i haven't bought a new ball in over a year. i play AAAA. try it. you'll never go back.
