  1. That is the quickest way i found to improving my own game. The more confident i am in my short game shots, chipping, pitching, half & full wedges, the better every club seems to fly. It's pretty cool that you have a set routine like that. Nice work. I'm curious to hear about how quickly this will begin to pay dividends for your scores.

    Mini Tour Play

My wife's cousin is playing on the canadian tour currently. Made the first 3 cuts of the season but has not faired as well recently. Such a good player. 'Big fish in a little pond.' Problem is, out there there is so much freakin talent competing for these few spots. Could be the hardest occupation in the world to get into. But everybody around here is rallying around him & supporting as much as possible. It's pretty cool to see so many that want one to suceed.
  3. I said i'd do it & i finally got the chance to. I hadn't played for a month but did fairly well. I played 9 holes & was 8 over. 44 on a par35 front. I hit 4 gir, short game was definitely a bit rusty. Flubbed a couple of chips/pitches which is unusual for me. Putting was bad to terrible, pretty normal for me. 3wd, 3hy @ 22*, 6i, 8i, pw, lw & putter. Never once was i stuck for more than a second or two with distance decisions. I'll see if it was a fluke when i play again. Hopefully before september.
  4. Run to one of the neighbor's houses & make them check the cup. Seriously.
  5. 600$ sounds pretty good for that setup. But if you cannot handle the shafts then your value goes through the floor. You could probably flog them off on ebay for that much or more or try to swap for another full set, but why bother.
  6. NEVER buy new. The depreciation on a club is worse than a toyota. My club pro showed me his new r9 superdeep tour only with aldila's RIP shaft(a 400$ upgrade according to him...). Apparently the whole setup would be worth 800$ or so. So i went home & found one online for 200$. Shipped. Of course he probably got it for free, but even a month after release most models just plummet. There is few companies or models that hold resale value for long. 3 best value comapnies in terms of quick price drops-adams, cleveland & wilson staff. Callaway & TM are dropping quicker than they used to as well. Wilson staff irons are the most underated on the market. Brand new CI7s for 150$ is pretty frickin sweet. Recent Titleist irons & most Ping clubs seem to hold their resale fairly well.
  7. I think a proper fitting for every club would yield a better overall performance. As long as you know you're shaft preference, & bounce & loft requirements i guess a fitting is not a huge thing. I am actually really intrigued by the Nike 360* fitting. Everything from driver to balls. They take your fw-hybrid-iron yardage gaps into account & also your wedge gap needs. I like the idea of one company being able to fit your bag from the top to bottom.
  8. I WAS buying, selling & trading clubs basically for the hell of it. But i just sold my gamer irons, wedges, driver & extras off. I kept my bag, putter, 3wd 3h & an old set of irons. I feel clean now. Must be how people who attend church feel.
  9. I'd enjoy even having the opportunity to play right now. I have no time for it as is. I'm a bogey golfer with the occasional moment of pure brillance/utter stupidity thrown in(some more than others some days...). I cannot think of anytime i have not enjoyed the game immensly while playing. Even on those forgettable days with double digits in the rearview mirrors halfway through the inward 9. Ah well. Bitch bitch bitch...
  10. Golfer-Jamie Sadlowski. Hitting 400yd balls would just be fun. I'd head straight for the big break 12. Non-golfer-Randy Orton. Big, young, tough & reasonably lean in an industry full of overstuffed roid ragers. Having a crowd that large cheering/booing you every night would be a blast.
  11. Congratulations! I hope it takes you less time than me. I got into the low 90s, & started ripping off 90 & 91 every round, for SIX MONTHES! I just kept choking. Even when i wasn't adding it up as i went. I can only imagine what it takes for someone to focus long enough to break 80 or par.
  12. Not stupid at all. Use the club that will put you out of danger & in position to hit the GIR. I spent a whole summer without a driver & the score didn't suffer at all. Broke 90 for the first time without the 'big dog' ITB. More balls & strokes are lost off the tee with the driver than any other club. I'm currently driverless again & loving it. On men's night i don't get a realistic crack at long drive, but who cares?
  13. That's awesome! I'm looking forward to the day when my boys can come out. The older one is 4 & i'm going to give him a chance at the range soon. His focus is a little lacking though, so i wouldn't be suprised if that's his only visit for awhile. I took my 5 yr old daughter out to the range & short game area about a month ago for the first time & we played different games & had alot of fun. I helped her with her grip & that was it. I was teeing up balls for her just off the green & she was chipping on & having a hoot. We left when she started to get bored. I didn't want to push it past the point of being fun. Hoping to get out for a second go at some point in the near future.
  14. I think... you think too much. What's the yardage difference on the 47 vs the 52? 8 yds? Doesn't it get confusing when it's time to chip or pitch a ball? I'm not ragging on you personally. It just seems like there's an unhealthy amount of time being spent obsessing over club selection. I'm done my bitchin' now. Here anyways.
  15. Only used one 16 & it was a POS knockoff. Not a good time. But the best & longest hybrid i ever bagged was a 17* nickent 3dx with the ST90 steel shaft. I've got a wilson 1iron that comes out in the summer that's got to be around 16* or so. It's not that hard to hit. It's the greatest tempo trainer in the world. That being said i use it at the range more than anywhere. There's a reason i'm an 18 handicap.
  16. Brand new Cobra 454 comp via ebay 0.99. That was few years ago. Only cobra driver i ever had. Shoulda kept it. TM vsteel 5wd-free out of the lost club bin at my home course. My irons 170 via rockbottomgolf. They've served for 4 years & have provided me with an ace & more importantly confidence.
  17. Currently, 3. PW, SW, LW. Super GI jacked up lofts. 45, 55 & 60. I've got an annoying gap between the p & s. But instead of fixing through more aquisition i've been opening up the pw & playing a high fade in from 100yds. pw is around 115 usually, sw is around 90.
  18. http://golfgolden.com/ Best course i've played at. It's up in the mountain behind town. It's just beautiful. & it's bloody challenging. Two days in a row that 2nd hole just crushed my golfing soul. Can't wait to go back!
  19. Why would you want a consistant lie? Throw your balls into the short game area & chip 'em tight. Then do it again. & again. Throw a couple behind a tree or two as well. A couple into divots, line some up along the fringe/first cut border, etc. The more messed up chips you practice will only add confidence when you're on the course. & i tend to take a bit of grass with my chips, so a tee would probably royally mess me up.
  20. I played with one golfer who creatively adjusted his score after the round. Something about "a stroke on this hole & this hole." I asked & he tried to explain the process to me. Just sounded like a pile of...anyways. I understand the leveling of the playing field for tourneys & member events, but that guy just sounded wrong. Although i guess carrying a bogus lower handicap would only serve to screw you in those net tourneys. Question for anyone-what's the highest score you're allowed to take on a hole? I've heard varied thories on this one. I write down what i shoot. Is that incorrect?
  21. They're legit. I have dealt with them on a number of occasions. Alot of my friends & families updated equipment has come from them. Outside of the fact that they use a courier service for shipping to canada(nightmare brokerage fees...) i have yet to have any problem with them.
  22. Seperation of chruch & skate-NOFX
  23. However people want to play is fine with me. As long as they don't want to play me for money, all the power to them. & really, if it's a health risk, like an older fellow moving the ball out of rough or out of a wrist tendon destroyer of a bunker lie, then by all means. I lose so many balls in the fall/winter that hit the fairway. It's really annoying having to call lost ball over & over because it's 2 inches underground.
  24. 35 for me. 47, geez. Thats' commitment.
  25. I'm not overly short. Average maybe? 200-220 with a 3wd. I don't know where that places me. My home course is not overly long either. I could get around with my irons, but that would add a bit of pressure. I'd probably shoot about the same score with any setup. LOL...somebody has to pay those R&D; guys & their tireless hours of MOI marketing. LOL...moved past those vices when i started making babies. Speaking of, i just found out that #4 is on the way. Golfing time is dwindling. Ah well. I already took my 5yr old daughter out to the range for her first time. It was alot of fun. I'm not one of those freaky overbearing live vicariously through my children kind of people.
