  2. Hahaha, that is a great story. I was actually debating picking up his 2 DVD set today, and you've just sealed it for me.
  3. What does it mean if my divots are following a line parallel to my feet (and usually in front of the ball), but I'm still slicing? Even trying weak and strong grips did nothing for me.
  4. We had a rule at another message board I used to go to... If you start a thread about someone, you lost. ------- To answer the question though, I think playing the same course every year gives a bigger advantage to the better player, of which Tiger is the best. I've often heard the Masters referred to as the Augusta Putting Championship. It's relatively "easy" to hit your GIRs there, so your swing doesn't need to be as on point as some other places. Tiger's putter isn't his main problem right now, and he knows the greens well there. Having said that, I'm a 30-something handicap who isn't getting any better...on the verge of retirement. I'm not allowed to comment until I win my 14 majors. I've heard that heart surgeons have heart attacks induced before they're allowed to perform heart surgery.
  5. Sound like anyone you know?
  6. I don't think he'll win another one either, but I'm not confident enough to put $100 on it. Nor am I confident enough I'd be here in 10 years to collect it ha. I think Tiger's own dominance made us forget how incredibly difficult it is to win a major. I put the odds at 60% he doesn't win another major, 85% he doesn't pass jack. The young guns are just too good now.
  7. Couldn't Tiger still technically lose his card via death? LargeMarge wouldn't have to pay up until 5 years time. If Tiger's still breathing air at that point, he loses.
  8. I need to echo 2 sentiments in this thread as loud as I can: 1. If your swing is already fast, this won't help....at least not as quickly as it's been helping most of the people in this thread. 2. Make sure you have good fundamentals. I figured I'd try it anyway since the website claimed it's for beginners as well. It was horrible. I wanted to swing way before the 2nd beep even on 21/7. I have a short back swing. Oh well. Maybe I'll try it again after I get better or something.
  9. I think that's the natural reaction. I'm the same way.
  10. That's fine, but no where was I rude or condescending or "not chill" in my rebuttal.
  11. Take a chill pill? There was nothing but chill in my post. Take a "thick skin" pill.
  12. Key word was "high handicappers" dude. The fastest way for someone shooting 110 to get in the 90s is to work on ballstriking, yet people will often (incorrectly IMO) say short game or course management are more important. There's a whole thread on it.
  13. Only speaking for high handicappers like myself, but I think "put driver away and hit 3w" is one of those old false relics like "you should work on your short game". I never top my driver, but I top my 3w 25-50% of the time. I finally neglected the age old advice of putting the driver away and instead started playing driver more than 3w and am hitting more fairways. I'll pull a 4i though if I don't have a lot of room.
  14. This guy sounds awesome. Like that dude who trained Seinfeld. I haven't improved from my instructor either....well, inside 100yds I have. My long game is still god awful.
  15. Isn't it funny how a push cart feels less masculine and more senior citizen-ish than riding in a silly looking golf cart?
  16. Amen. I hate riding. I lose more balls when I ride. Much easier to just walk directly where your shot went. Pluse if I change my mind on a club, I never walk back to the cart to make the switch (don't want to slow play). Carrying gets annoying too, but it always appeared to me it'd be worse lugging that push/pull cart. I'll have to give it a shot.
  17. Don't think I was clear. I don't care about my handicap. I want the game to be more fun. To me that's less tops, duffs, and shanks. I'd rather shoot 100 with 18 3 putts and no tops, duffs, or shanks than 100 with 1.75 putts and a bunch of those shots. That's just me.
  18. And to me, this is the main reason I don't work on short game that much. If I 3 putt now and then (maybe once or twice a round) or chip and miss the green (once or twice a round), it's not that big a deal to me.....but I hate the frigging shanks, duffs, and tops I'll have. It makes the game less fun. Until I get those under control, I'd rather focus on long game. If my ballstriking was good, I'd have more fun even if my scores would be higher than if my short game was excellent.
  19. The claim was best athlete of 2 generations yet we've had athletes who've dealt with similar or worse mental situations and fared better.
  20. Can we still say that?
  21. Most people still play honors golf instead of ready golf, at least that's what I see. My biggest pet peave is when you're struggling on a hole and everyone beats you to the green. Then you get to the green and are the furthest out and people look at you waiting for you to puft. A-hole, you've been standing there for a good bit now waiting for me to get on. Why should I have to rush when you clearly should be ready to putt? What were you doing all this time? And 90% of people are faster walking than with carts. The sooner courses realize that the better.
  22. Wait. We're supposed to be like the guy on the left? Man this game is hard.
  23. I'd love for the "course management" crowd to be my caddy for a day and "decision-make" my score from 110 to 85. I rarely pull driver. I don't go for pins. If the hole is 315 I play a 5i to leave a full PW, etc....and if I get within 20-30 yds of the green, I put it on and 2 putt 90% of the time. The problem is the handful of LB's, shanks, tops with woods, or skull shots with short irons. I can't speak for the rest of the world, but course management and short game is at best going to get me to 100.
  24. Thanks everyone. When I was trying out shafts, I liked the DG s300 the best, but I was worried I may have just been biased cause that's what my pro recommended. Based on what everyone said here, I'll go with the recs from my pro and get the s300 2 degrees upright. I'm going to stick with the stock stiff shafts for my driver and woods.
  25. Thanks. How do I move the thread to the equipment section?
