Do I need a rangefinder?
CWHolland replied to halcon's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
It sure is nice knowing the exact yardages to greens and hazards. I have become dependent on mine. Definite plus when playing a new course for the first time!! -
Ping G10 driver owners speak out...
CWHolland replied to Alohaed's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I read the same thing. Its a G10 with a G15 head cover. -
They make shaft extenders in graphite and steel. Just google golf club shaft extenders and find what you need.

Taylormade Burner Hybrids.
CWHolland replied to James_Black's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thanks for that info. I just bought the same two clubs and I am having the same problem. It didn't even occur to me that they were a draw club. I have noticed that the clubhead is closed at approach and was convinced that for some reason I was over gripping the club. My shot is already a slight draw and I never would have bought them knowing they were 4* closed!! Man I feel like a real bone-head now and actually a little ticked that they are not marketed as a draw club. -
Whay would you do.......broken shafts
CWHolland replied to Fozcycle's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
+1 It definitely sounds like there is a manufactures defect. Contact them and see what they will do for you. -
I'm sure he could find a set of Ping g2s or maybe even a set of g5s in that price range. Look online at Edwin Watt, Golfsmith, Golf Galaxy etc. He may even try Ebay, not sure if there is a counterfeit problem with the older clubs. Just have to be careful and buy from someone with good feedback.

Lost my 60* at the course today : /
CWHolland replied to tws1098's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
+1 I agree with you Red, replace the 60*. The 60* has gotten me out of some hairy lies before!! I'll admit, there are some times that I will not use it at all in the round. But, it is nice knowing that it is there when I need it. -
I understand what you are saying. But when the course is packed, I think if your ball lies within a putters grip or so to the cup, count the stroke and pick up. It will help speed things up. I can see putting everything out in a tournament or if you and your buddies might be playing for cash.

Chipping and putting have been the better part of my game here lately. I will go outside when I am bored with a 5 gallon bucket and my wedges. I will set the bucket at different distances and attempt hitting the bucket or putting the ball inside the bucket. This, I think will help in gauging your strokes. Repetition practice will improve just about anything. It also sounds like some of your problem may be the mental part of the game. Try not to think so much about blading the ball or hitting it fat. Just find a spot on the green where you want to land the ball on the green and hit it. I never chip at the flag stick, I usually find a spot on the green and run it at the stick.

I think 4 hours isn't bad for a group of 4. I have played in a 4 some that finished 18 in about 3 hr 45 min. We are all fairly fast at play. We play ready golf and do not spend much more than 1-2 minutes looking for lost balls and play 18" gimmes. So we do everything possible to speed the game but there has to be some enjoyment to the game. I go out to play, I am not looking to hurry up so I can go back home right away!! It is in my opinion what slows things down so much is on the green. Letting furthest out hit first and putting everything out. Ready golf speeds things up a lot.

I just looked at Edwin Watts online site and found several new Ping putters for under $100. Sorry, I didn't notice the availability in left hand putters. -
should i get my driver cut down
CWHolland replied to taylormade fan's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Well first let me start off by thanking you for correcting me. I always appreciate when someone smarter than me corrects me. I didn't know how much being "politically" correct on this forum was until now. As far as for the guys that work in the golf shops, I would like to think some of them know what they are talking about. But now I know I can come here and consult with you. So as far as golf clubs and physics are concerned I will come to you for the answers for now on. Noted I also said that I installed a winn lite grip which weighs about 28 grams, (which is lighter than most standard grips). Will this work? Not sure, but I am willing to hear advice and give it a try. So to the OP, this was just an opinionated suggestion. -
should i get my driver cut down
CWHolland replied to taylormade fan's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I went into Edwin Watts today with that same question. I bought a new Taylormade 09 Burner and I am having to choke down about 1" to 1.5". I asked since I am choking down should I just go ahead and have the shaft cut down. The salesman there said it would affect the swing weight of the club and also being that it is a stiff shaft, it would make it even more stiff which could affect the overall hitting of the club. His advice to me was to continue choking down on the grip, He also suggested to try a midsize grip (.600). I just installed a Winnlite firm, so we'll see how this works out. -
Just for fun, I would like to see what is the most popular brand of drivers that everyone on this forum is playing.

I need a 200 yard club, please recommend
CWHolland replied to khale's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
What is your distance with the 5 iron? Its a easier club to hit than the 3 iron. I struggle with the 4 iron, can't hit a 3 iron to save my life but the good old 5 iron is my 200 yard club. I just bought a couple of Taylormade 3 & 4 hybrids to replace my 5 & 7 woods thinking they would be easier to hit. I've played two rounds with them and I am struggling with them as well. So I rely a lot on my 5 iron. -
Recommendations for a new cart bag?

Simply said, Ebay is high risk. You can go through the forum and see all the post about counterfeit clubs being bought off of Ebay. People who are first time buyers or uneducated in the use of Ebay are vulnerable to these scammers. I've been using Ebay as long as you have and I have not been burned yet. Just knowing these scammers are out there waiting to take advantage of someone would be enough reason to maybe shop somewhere else. I think you can find good deals at place such as Rockbottom, Golfsmith, Edwin Watts, Golf Galaxy ect.

Stay away from Ebay!! To many people get burned trying to save an extra buck! There are plenty of deals at any of the big golf shops.

Suggestions on a type of GI Iron
CWHolland replied to kfowler's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I would recommend the Ping g10. I just picked up a set ( 4-pw ) for $400 @ edwin watts. I just played my third round since buying them and it seems they keep getting better every time I go out! -
Ping half craz e belly putter solved my problems. I used to have a problem pushing my putts to the right. I bought this putter and I no longer push my putts. Go to your local golf shop and demo one.

Ping eye 2 on Corpus Christi Tx craigslist
CWHolland posted a topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I found a set of Ping eye 2 clubs on craigslist for sale. I am not affiliated with this ad, I just figured since seeing the response towards these irons I would post the info for someone who might be interested in buying a set. http://corpuschristi.craigslist.org/spo/1843654172.html ad "I am selling a matching serial # set of Ping Eye 2 Black dot irons, 4-PW. Right handed. ZZ lite steel shafts. I called Ping today and gave them the serial # (377983), they told me these clubs were made in February of 1987. Irons do need grips. Club faces and grooves are in great condition for age. Clubs do show normal signs of usage. Great set. Considered the best iron ever made. I am asking $200 o.b.o. for the irons. If interested please call of text me at 972-352-9844 " -
