I never said it interfered with my round, either. But alas, we jump to extreme analogies. My point was that if you're taking 120+ strokes...you shouldn't even be worried with what you're shooting and have no problem picking up when you've obviously used up a bit of time on a particular hole. Playing an easier course would make the game more enjoyable for said golfer and also allow them to improve without people beating down their backs for an entire round. I don't have any delusions about people not being ALLOWED to play..but I would like for everyone who picks up golf to be able to enjoy it and speaking from my own personality..it wouldn't be fun if I were struggling and I felt like someone was also constantly watching.

where in my post did I even come close to saying "just give up and don't play"?
-
If someone is playing a regulation course and taking more than 120 strokes, they don't really need to be out there playing..especially not during busy portions of the day. Go play at twilight until you get better or find an easier course to play until you improve a little bit. Heck, play two putt max if you MUST play a challenging course for your skill level. Play best ball off the tee if you're playing with someone better than you.

My "routine" starts when I'm behind the ball and preparing to address and swing. Most of my "aiming" is done before its even my turn to play so my start is pretty quick..just a last affirmation of my line of play. I then step to the ball, align myself with a close distance target on my line, and swing. The only time i take a practice swing is for half-swings and that pre-shot routine will take a little longer, maybe 20 seconds.

To fix slow play 1. prepare for your next shot as much as possible before its your turn to hit. 2. When it is your turn..keep whatever you have left to 30 seconds or less, including hitting the ball 3. Do not tell stories between every stroke you make 4. If you have a 1 footer for a quad bogey, just pick the ball up. 5. On the green, read your putt while someone else is putting but make sure you give them respect by not moving a bunch or talking 6. Even on the green, play ready golf. If someone else is unsure of a putt and you're sure..go ahead and play your ball while they decide. 7. If someone has just chipped on the green but still "away"..go ahead and play your next shot while they prepare to putt. You should have already been studying your own next stroke. 8. Realize when its time to bite the bullet, grab your favorite club, and advance the ball more than 30 yards. We are not heroes. 9.If you're sharing a cart...drive to one ball and either drop off the player at his ball, and drive to the next one immediately. Its much faster to pick everyone back up than it is to play one ball, drive to the next, then play that ball. As long as you are not in another players line of play, you're good to go.

I know you don't wanna hear it but for the price you're going to pay to have that work done..you could buy a used club for the same price. I konw you said the club was sentimental but Callaways have no hosel so I don't think it could be bent and that ferrule you posted..does it even work with your model of club?

good karma will come that persons way!

re: the advertising aspect....I don't think I can recall one single time when I've looked at someone elses headcovers. Even if I DID notice them, it surely wouldn't make me think "Man, I need to go buy those clubs" because I've already got the clubs I want in my bag. The sock headcovers look cool...I was shocked at how small they look but I guess being knit, they stretch out much bigger than expected.

I'm trying to remember exactly but I think the term actually originated by hitting the middle stripe down a fairway. I've seen the explanation before but can't find it again.

I don't practice punch shots in particular but I do practice knockdown shots and also half swings and the like with a few different clubs. When I'm playing a punch shot, I'm hardly ever trying for the green or anything so to me, its more about advancing the ball a reasonable distance while also getting out of trouble. On most par 4's, if the tree is just gonna require absolute precision then I'll wedge out while also trying to get as much advancement as possible and play for the up and down par.

My only conclusion is that my family has deep southern roots and also "poor" roots and fried chicken is awesomely delicious. You don't speak in regards to a black person and refer to feeding them fried chicken without some racist connotation...to try and explain otherwise is just silly. EVERYONE knows the stereotype, so continuing it is a racist thing. That said...I wish the golf world would move on, really. Feeding the fire doesn't do any good.
-
uhh, how is that a race thing???? I always thought that in order for something to be racist, you must slur someones race? The chief of the Euro tour says today that Sergio has "many colored friends".......really...colored?

Will rangefinders improve my game?

how would anyone be able to get precise yardages to a pin without some kind of measuring device? -
Shortening the driver shaft...
Paradox replied to Incognito's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
tipping does more for stiffness than cutting from the butt end. How much difference it would make...I dunno? btw, I watched a WITB video on another site and a pro who was 6'1" I think he said..uses a 44" driver. -
So...I have days where the driver is just more trouble than benefit(I struggle getting the face squared back up)....everyone knows that frustration. I have a 19° hybrid that I can get out to 220 on average and hit very well. My dilemma is should I go with a 3w at 15° or get another hybrid(shorter shaft..more control) at 15°? I'm not so much concerned with extra distance from tight lies or from the rough or fairway but I definitely would like a club for the tee box that I can fall back on. Probably a silly question but I can't get my mind to lean one way or the other so opinions might help.

IF they don't ever wave me through as a single..I'd just skip a hole in front of them and play on. I could then come back and play the hole I skipped if its a big deal. ONLY DO THIS IF THE COURSE IS VERY EMPTY!

TM 2011 rescue/hybrid clubs - opinions?
Paradox replied to gsu_paintballer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
TM rescue Dual from 2005 or so is also still a very solid purchase. Its still one of my favorite clubs to this day and it doesn't have much draw bias so it can "grow" with you. -
Question about installing new grips
Paradox replied to tpcollins's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
You're overthinking a tad. Just use a layer of tape.. -
Into the wind, with the wind...the first couple holes are "guinea pigs" for seeing how the distance is being affected. On my home course, this is easy, because the prevailing wind is usually ALWAYS in your face on the first tee. When playing into a headwind, any curve on the shot will be exaggerated by the wind...and too much spin will kill distance(so don't try to swing harder) Down wind, the only thing you have to worry about is the ability to stop the ball and you can do this by playing more loft, being able to hit a higher shot with the same club...things like that. Crosswinds....I'm not good enough to predictably play "into the wind" so I always ride it. Play for more curve than usual and adjust your aim accordingly.

Sergio wasn't "challenging" the flag, though. He was playing left of the flag and hoping to use the slope to bring the ball back down to the hole and hitting a fade. Its not as if he hit the green and the ball took a hard bounce off into the water. He came up WELL short of any reasonable target. He had a PW in his hand..it wasn't as if he was trying to muscle a gap wedge or sand wedge to the hole. What else can you call it besides choking when a pro hits a pitching wedge 125 yards?

i was setting up to hit a chip shot the other day...heard a car door slam in a nearby parking lot right before I started my swing. Totally skulled it and got mad at myself because I completely started thinking about the car door instead of my shot. It wasn't the car doors fault or the people who shut it...it was mine because I lacked focus. I grew up playing baseball so noises never have bothered me and it eats me alive the odd time that one does. I remember back on the diamond..I'd be so focused I could hear nothing at all.
-
I don't look at any pro athletes as role models so their personalities and all the other hub-bub never concerns me like it does other fans(I don't care if someone curses or gets mad or whatever). Sergio has just always struck me as one of those players who always looks for something to blame besides himself(most of the time..a few times he's flat out said he sucked) and like he's just a little too...something while he's playing. I can't pinpoint what it is but it rubs me the wrong way. Ian Poulter used to be the same way to me but I watched a "playing lessons" of him recently and he's actually not full of himself and just wants to win..so I can respect him and his fiery attitude while on the course. I wish more golfers were like he and Tiger and a few others who get mad when they mess up....just don't pout.
-
Sergio doesn't seem to be able to find the line between the go for it mentality and not hanging on to bad shots. Catch 22...if he doesn't take the risk, he doesn't win much..but when he takes the risk and doesn't succeed, he explodes. That second shot with the SAME club should not have happened on 17. Of course, he was by all accounts already out of it but I thought for a second he was gonna pull a Tin Cup and keep hitting it in the water.

I would guess that since the yardage is definitely wrong and looking at the picture. The green complex was not put back all the way where the hole was originally planned to be. Doesn't seem there would be any room for an additional tee box so that would have to be the case. You should ask someone in the pro shop next time you're there about that hole.
