new irons and club fitting
novogolf replied to GolfingCanuck's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
exactly....dynamic fittings outdoor are the only way to go! I fit a guy who was 5'6" +1/2 inch and 1* upright and he's never hit the ball better. Every big box retailer looked at him and said he didnt need to be fit because they knew his specs would be -1/2inch and 2*flat. -
if you have the option, get fit outdoors with a launch monitor. There's no substitute for outdoor fittings and being able to see true ball flight combined with hard numbers. I dont know how many times we've received complaints from golfers that were fit indoors only to say they cant hit the ball like they did indoors, into the simulator, etc. If you're looking for a new driver, dont just be locked into one brand, etc. You should be able to try a number of different drivers to determine which one is ultimately the best for you (shaft, loft, head, length, flex, etc.). Good luck

X20 tours are awesome...just be careful with the project x shafts. They frequency out very stiff! We put a set on our machine and while the CPM spread was not that far apart between the irons, they came out at a XXX flex!!!! We also freq a set of x20 graphite regs which came out to an A flex and an inconsistent spread between the irons. Fyi...this happens all the time with OEMs...not just one particular brand. It's kind of scary, but it is what it is. Typically if it's that bad, we'll pull the shafts and redo them completely. We spec all of our fitting irons and if they dont match what they should be, we pull the shafts and redo them.

r7 "superquad" anyone seen it??
novogolf replied to asianpsuation's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The reason why the 425 is staying at 399.99 is b/c it's staying in the line for 07. The 460 while still in the line for now will no longer be produced...it will be phased out due to the superquad. Some people cant stand the 460cc heads....the 425 will serve that purpose. -
Initial thoughts on Footjoy Reelfits
novogolf replied to NCGolfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
excellent shoe... I wore them mid january when I played in hawaii for 2 rounds and absolutely wonderful. No need for break-in and the lace system works very well. It was so easy and no interference with the mechanism on the heel of the shoe. 2 thumbs up! -
GolfTec Golf Lessons - Feedback, Discussion
novogolf replied to chauvotsm's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
good teachers are hard to come by, but they do exist. You have to have a good understanding of how the pro is working with you and what they are suggesting, changing, etc. Video analysis is great, but it's not always needed if the instructor can get you in the correct plane, etc. with certain exercises that give you muscle memory. Re:golftec, i've heard mixed reviews..but everyone that I know that's done it, has ended up going back to a pro that teaches outdoors. With all the latest technology/gadgets, etc., anyone can become a teaching pro. I think you end up spending more time looking at your swing on computer and analyzing what it should look like, than you actually hit and try to physically correct your flaws. -
What do you think about the new Sumo Driver?
novogolf replied to paulk's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
we got them in today. The sound is still very very loud! I thought that NIKE might dampen the sound, but it was the same loud clank from when I tried it out a while back. I took it out in the frigid morning and hit about 10 shots. It definitely works as advertised. long and straight. A number of customers around me complained that it was too loud and obnoxious. I would certainly agree on the sound. -
Good luck... keep us posted on how you enjoyed the fitting (i dont think they use any launch monitors...at least not when I was there) and which irons you decided to go with. They have a beautiful facility!

multi compound grips are the most difficult grips to install. You must use a lot of solvent. Doesn't have anything to do with size..just the inner lining of the grip is super sticky.
-
Both are great drivers. Try them both and get fitted. If you go with the R7, go with the standard R7 460. You're talking a difference of 30.00 between that and the R7 460 Draw. Good luck!

Launch-Monitors and getting Fitted

Good Article...that's the same launch monitor technology that we use. It gives us the ability to see true ball flight combined with LM data. -
New shaft for my Driver.... any suggestions?
novogolf replied to ipark1303's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
you need to provide more information on your swing, tempo, swing speed, shot pattern, trajectory, etc., etc. before anyone can make recommendations. -

excellent iron set! Very forgiving...Slightly more so than the MX23...and a full forged head. Very easy to work the ball and still get excellent feedback. Definitely one of the best irons and golf club manufacturers around...Although the warranty department/customer service could be a little better. I play the MP60s and absolutely love them. You should also look at the Srixon I506 forged clubs. Excellent product with a no-upcharge option for Rifle Project X, Nippon NS950 and now aerotech Steel Fiber shafts.

yes, I agree... although it's certainly one of the best looking heads with the all black finish! -
Launch-Monitors and getting Fitted
novogolf replied to mrbillinoc's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Getting fit OUTDOORS with a launch monitor is the only way to go! I've said it time and time again, never get fit indoors...especially at a large retailer with inexperienced fitters. I actually went to a couple of the big box retailers in my area and was really disappointed by the overall experience. On both occasions, I was fit by an inexperienced fitter (in my eyes) who really didnt know what he was talking about. Most of the time, he was just pushing certain products with very limited product information and basically repeating the output on the screen. For an inexperienced golfer, it's a great feeling to see those 280+ yard drives that are hit long and straight...according to the computer screen. What a great marketing tool to get you to purchase! Hit a few mega drives that you've never hit before in your life and you're sold. Time and time again it's happened to so many of my now new customers and I hear the same story over and over again..."I picked this up at so and so and when I was hitting it into the computer screen, I was bombing them so long and straight. It felt so great! Then, when I took it on the course, it's worse than my current driver and I have no idea what's going on?" Im definitely not saying that this is the norm, but in my experiences, i've seen it happen too many times. No one should ever purchase equipment sight unseen. Hitting 10 feet into a net/screen is just that. I've been fortunate to have been fit by a few tour fitters from the top manufacturers and they've all agreed that the only way to get fit, is outdoors in order to observe true ball flight. One manufacturer in particular had a Million dollar plus indoor setup for recreational customers (not tour players) and even with that technology, I was told to take the numbers with a grain of salt. Now imagine getting fit with a 3-4K launch monitor indoors with an inexperienced fitter?!?! I'll let you draw your own conclusions. I will agree 100% that you must have a relatively consistent swing if you want the most out of any fitting. However, most of the recreational golfers out there purchase on impulse or strictly based on reading "what's hot and new" and do not intend to take lessons or fix their bad habits. Many actually purchase the clubs first and then take lessons, only to realize that they purchased the wrong clubs! While I encourage everyone to take lessons, getting your equipment properly custom fit is equally important. With that said, yes a launch monitor fitting is well worth the time and money spent if done correctly with a knowledgeable fitter. Find yourself a qualified fitter and get fit outdoors. You'll see the results yourself and will be much more satisfied with your purchase. -
What do you think about the new Sumo Driver?
novogolf replied to paulk's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
it's a great club for sure... Very easy to hit long and straight drives. For anyone that needs better accuracy/control (most if not all golfers), it's a fantastic driver! My only complaint from when I tried it a few months ago was that it was obnoxiously loud (i was right in the middle of a 70 bay range and the person at the last stall, stopped hitting to see where all the noise was coming from. It's considerably louder than any driver i've ever hit...and I've hit just about every driver out there. The top of the head was paper thin...felt as if I could cave in the top of the head with my thumb. For those that might occasionally sky the ball, you will easily dent the top of the head. I've seen some really nasty dents on the tops of many driver heads and unfortunately, the manufacturer will not cover the damage under warranty. Aside from that... I believe the FTi and Sumo2 will be a huge success. I already have a wait list for both drivers...so the press is obviously doing a good job marketing the debut of the driver. After hitting it, those that have issues with the shape of the head will not even think twice about it. -

New Set of Irons: Need Help
novogolf replied to Newbie Collection Agency's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
That is not true. Tour professional clubs may have slightly different grinds, offsets, lofts, lies, etc. but with the exception of a handful of tour players, the forgings are no different from what the recreational golfer uses. I have many friends in the industry (touring side) and this is a fallacy. -
this is actually a great swing training aid that gets you on the correct plane as well as allowing you to focus on your tempo. I've used it and it does help. What's great is that you can actually hit the ball to get a true sense of how it works, etc. Go for it!

Just wanted to say hello to the gang and introduce myself. If I can be of any assistance with any of your golf needs, please don't hesitate to ask. My goal here is to participate as an enthusiast and offer as much advice that I can. -Cheers

My rep is speculating around March/April time frame.

FTi will be 499.99

It's a great driver and I had the chance to hit it! Long and straight no question! If you can get beyond the looks it's an awesome driver. I currently play the FT3 with a Diamana 63 stiff and crush the ball. The FTi was effortless and very long! I will definitely make the switch!
