Playing from the pro's tees, I doubt I'd be able to break 100...maybe not even 110. I think people underestimate the difficulty of a course like this, setup for tournament conditions

just moved to Battle Creek, Michigan

I'll second the Gull Lake courses, I play them every year and they are very nice, along with Bedford Valley. The Grande in Jackson is a really nice course and not all that far from you. Plenty of good options anywhere in this state. This will help http://michigan.twoguyswhogolf.com/reviews/michigan_golf_course_reviews.html -
Shot a 42 last night in the first week of my league. Felt pretty good, cosidering it was 45 degrees, soaking wet, and 20 mph winds. Also, it was my first time swinging since I jacked my back up last september. Was very happy to get out and play

Favorite Michigan courses

Group golfer is awesome! I have saved so much money from that site. The best deal so for was 2 rounds and a night stay at treetops for 2 people for only $150. Lessonongolf.com is also a money saver -
Favorite Michigan courses

I have to disagree with you about lakes. I think that is one of the nicest, and tougher courses in SE Michigan. I think the layout is great especially compared to Meadows. Meadows is a fine course but its more of a feel good course in my opinion. Moose Ridge is my favorite course within an hour, it has a very up north feel to it. St. Ives, Tullymore and Bucks Run are my 3 favorite central Michigan courses. I'll be doing treerops, forest Dunes, and the tribute this summer, I've heard they are all awesome tracks. -
When I worked retail in my younger days people would always say that line to me. I'm sure Dicks has customers that spend waaaaaaaay more than that in a couple years, and I'm sure they would manage to stay open without that money. Stores 90% of the time will try to do all they can to make a customer happy regardless of the amount of money you spend there

wow! that gave me a headache, but was a great read. Thanks for posting that, I'm going to impress my friends with all that knowledge this weekend lol

Thanks for clearing that up. They aren't a true blade perhaps, but they are a "players" iron designed for a lower handicap golfer, and not as an easy to hit, game improvement iron.
-
Don't let people scare you away from blades. I'm about a 15 handicap and started using the Mizuno MP58's this year and I love them. Go and try hitting the blades and see how they feel. If you can't hit them well, don't buy them.

2-5 inches of rain is being forecast this week in southern Michigan. I played Saturday, and 2 of the 3 nine hole courses were underwater. This weather sucks!
-
Were you able to get out and play today? the weather wasn't too bad today, my only concern is the ground. Seems like it would be a bit frozen still.
-
I always keep some clif bars and granola in my bag, perfect to snack on while playing.

do you think this weather is ever going to warm up so us michiganders can get out and enjoy some golf? It's March 31st and my truck was covered in frost everyday this week! This crap sucks

Someone Hit me With their Ball... Did I take it too far?
Ron Stewart replied to DJYoshi's topic in Golf Talk
I was hit 2 years ago walking up to my ball. The guy was teeing off about 150 yards up from me on a tee box on the back 9 that ran along the fairway I was hitting from on the front 9. Ball hit me off a hop, almost got me right in the junk. Hurt like a Mother f*cker. I lost my cool because like your situation, the guy didnt even yell fore. Claimed he didnt see me standing there. I told him he was full of it and after showing him the big welt on my leg, I threw his ball back at him and walked away pissed off as hell. -
Anyone have some good ways to strengthen hands and wrists?
Ron Stewart replied to Cossackred's topic in Fitness and Exercise
get yourself one of these: http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3970328&cp;=2367438.2367453.2812888 they work great and you can keep it in your car and use it while driving to work. A stress ball works real good as well -
This year I want to work on shortening my swing, becoming more consistent with my irons, and dedicating more time throughout the season for practice. Every year in the spring I spend a ton of time at the range, but once golf season starts I hardly ever spend time on my game.

Amen to that brother! Thank goodness for heated ranges I guess

Old1964- I bought the FLI-HI towards the end of last summer and was able to get a few rounds in with it. The thing is AWESOME!. It quickly became my go to club and I was hitting it from everywhere on the course, anywhere from 200-250. Thing is a breeze to hit and is great off the tee on long par 3's or tight par 4's. I was never able to get the hang of hitting the more conventional style hybrid, so when I saw the FLI-HI I was anxious to try it out and it didnt let me down. As far as the MP58's go, I'm getting nervous about being able to be consistent with them after reading some of the other post in other threads. I hit them a bunch before buying them and they seemed ok, but its a big step up from my previous irons (which I am keeping just in case these things are too tough for me at the beginning of the season) so I'll just out in a lot of range time and see how it goes. Westcyder- Where abouts are you on the westside? I golf the K-zoo area several times a year, It would be cool toget to know some of the guys on the site out on the course. And in my previous post I mis-typed the part about the mis-hits, I was slicing the ball off the heel, not hooking. It was a long day and I felt the need to correct myself for some reason lol.
-
Hit them both with different shafts and let the clubs make the decision for you. Mizuno has an awesome fitting system that lets you hit the clubs with different shafts. I'd give you my feelings on the 2, but they may be biased. Love the 58's!
-
They are a tough iron to hit, but man do they feel awesome when you connect with them! The best part of the deal is that I did the club fitting at Miles of Golf, and the KBS stiff was one of the reccomended shafts. I'll need to get them fitted, they are too short and I'd like to have the loft and lie checked and adjusted if needed. I was able to hit them this afternoon, first time swinging this year as well, so I didnt expect much. They felt great, the ones I miss hit were worm burners from topping (perhaps due to them being too short) or hooks that seemed to be coming off the heel. I'm a pretty good ball striker for the most part, so I'm really pumped to start getting used to these irons. Old1964, I'm in the mid Mich area quite a bit in the summer, I'd love to get together and let you teach me a few tricks with these bad boys.

Damn dude, no need to be such a D-BAG. I was just asking for opinion on the price I paid, I could care less what you think of the clubs. And FYI, the date stamp on the camera doesn't necessarily reflect when the picture was taken. Anyways, yes I am looking forward to improving my game this summer, and hopefully these clubs help out.
-
Went to the golf show today and picked up these "slightly used" Mizuno MP58 irons. They have very little signs of use and have the KBS tour stiff shafts. I've been looking for awhile for these babies and this deal seemed pretty fair. Paid $650 out the door for 4-PW. The 7 iron is the only one that shows any major marks, and it looks like it was scratched up by a brush or something. I think I got a pretty fair deal. What do you guys think?

Another thing you may want to consider working on is your posture. You seem to be a bit upright, try getting into a bit more athletic stance. A little more bend in the knees and some squat in the butt may help with your balance in your follow through. When your over the ball drop your butt down a tad, kinda with the feeling that your going to sit down in a chair. I sure there are a lot of other guys that can give better advice on here, these are just my not so educated opinions. Check on youtube, there are so many helpful vids on there you could spend days and days learning new stuff and comparing your swing.
