Golfsmith fitting - what a joke
basscat348 replied to Nyper's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Been down that exact road recently it sucks and its frustrating . I strongly reccomend only going into these big box stores only just to hit clubs or look around and thats it. I think they hire employees in these stores that have no idea even what they are doing. Go to a custom fitting store to get fitted ,I spent $100 to get my driver fitted to me because I was tired of wasting my time with all these wana be sales people who have no idea what they are talking about. The driver I play now I absolutely kill it mostly 290-305 carry ,it amazing what a proper fit can produce. -
Shaft flexing during downswing?
basscat348 replied to chaptowngolfteam's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
What is your swing speed that will determine alot ? Example my driver swing speed is average 118-125 so I have a nunchuck 103gram driver shaft that I absoutley love. The other this is you have gained distance by restricting hip turn, that means your just hitting the ball where you are supposed to.You dont want to restrict that hip turn, thats where you get maximum club head speed from.I play the project x rifle 6.0 shafts in my irons and I love them they are the perfect shaft for me. -
If anyone has ever played baseball or softball you shouldnt need a training aid .Simple , you cant hit a baseball very far by swinging the end of the bat at the ball first, same goes for a golf ball.In a baseball swing (now go grab a bat) the grip or the end of the bat where your hands are always leed first they have to otherwise you'll be flipping to early and have no power simple. The best way to do this is start your regular backswing to a 3/4 position similar to where you would have your baseball bat,now put a baseball swing into it on the golf swing plane.I know its seems different because one is out in front of you on a horizontal plane and the other is more around or on a 45* angle. The other thing you have to think about is how the body and the bat move together in the swing, the same has to go with the golf club and the body, if they dont move together your an arm swinger and arm swingers may be able to get some good power into the ball but just think if you could get your body into it as we'll...you'd probably pick up 10-15mph ball speed and about 20-30yards.

We'll I used to live in las vegas , did for 24 years and tiger had a fundraiser called tiger jam some of you may have heard of it.Anyways alot celebritys were invited and the per cost dinner plate was like $10k or something I dont remember exactly so I am really just guessing at a high amount. The bottom line is I had several friends working at that fundraiser while everything was going on alot of people donating and TIPPING very we'll except for good ol' TW who never has donated anything to my knowledge at any of the tiger jam fundraisers. I think his trips to vegas was so he could party hard and get laid by his many girl friends which he still has from understandings.

Simple Shaft Stiffness Question
basscat348 replied to Chicago Seminole's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
You really need to look at the nunchuk shaft or project x 6.0 or the ozik matrix code 8 any of these shafts will fix all those stray shots.I prefer the nunchuk but thats just what im playing and it gives a real tight dispersion pattern unless I come over on it. -
Swing weights - how important for newer players?
basscat348 replied to glock35ipsc's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
For me a heavier shaft is best.I use a nunchuk in my driver and I believe thats the heaviest shaft made,it is awesome.Lighter is not necessarily better. -
The feet together drill I only use at the range hitting balls.I use about 35-50% of my power when doing this keeping both feet on the ground even after you have hit the shot. This drill will really help show if you club face is open or closed when your hitting the ball. You should very easily be able to hit a perfect draw with this setup. Alot of things in golf are trial an error and that goes for everyone because we are all different swingers. My suggestion to you is try all the different things people mention to you here and if you think it works then use it and if you think it doesnt then dont waste youre time with it. I got to where I am at now by just trying all sorts of different things I saw ,heard , or read in magazines. It took me 2 1/2 years to shoot my first par round from the first day I started playing golf . Still even today I am trying new things to try and improve , I think thats just part of the game and why I think its fun. I guess what I am trying to say is alot of this stuff youre really going to have to figure out for yourself . I personally think going and getting lessons are a pure waste of time and money , I had about 3 lessons when I very first started golfing paid the dummy like $400 to help me get going on the right path and I would have been better off going to a casino with the money, pure waste.

To be honest your swing looks pretty good.A few small adjustments and youre there.I would concentrate on 3/4 swings or what you think is a 3/4 swing and that will help you alot. Also the feet totally together drill and hit 3/4 shots,I still use this one.It really helps synchrozine atleast my body. I find it very funny that theres always high handicappers here giving advice to people looking for improvement LOL.

Tiger's "Measurably Worse" Swing
basscat348 replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I would think a golfer of his calibur could be able to fix his swing somewhat on his own.He acts like its some huge ordeal with this new swing ,maybe tiger got amnesia when he got into his accident and he cant remember how he is supposed to golf. -
There you go ,good video info.

How many balls do you use per round?
basscat348 replied to binga7's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Usually 1 ball for me unless I have killed it with wedge shots, cart path, sprinkler head, tree etc. -
Callaway Razr X Tour Irons on the way
basscat348 replied to basscat348's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I like that the sweet spot is larger and lower on the face.It seems almost all of my mis hits I hit are thin shots to low on the face,so I am thinking that this will help. They say with this setup they were able to make the lofts stronger so the ball will go farther, and my thinking on that is then maybe I dont have to have the full set and carry a couple more wedges.I ordered pw-6iron to see what the distances are going to be.In the past I had a set of cobras that had a huge sweet spot and could hit those things along ways like a pw 150.After just coming off playing mizunos mp 68's and ping i3 blades I know I am going to love them. -
I ordered them today from Callaway golf center in las vegas, they said I should have them by friday ....yippie.I ordered the Tour razr x"s with project x 6.0 rifle's , I cant wait till I get these.
-
That pretty spot on in my book except you needed to add tiger in the #1 position I cant stand this guy on or off the course.

Generating the lowest backspin.
basscat348 replied to ronaldkuntoro's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
They tee the ball high because they are using true lofted drivers of like 5.5* and 6.5* and they have to really hit it on the upswing.Manufacturers today know that most golfers have a hard time getting the ball airborne and putting spin on the ball (I dont) therefore the lofts printed on clubs nowdays are really like 1.5 - 2.5* higher than what they say.I just took back a so called 8.5* and when I had another place put it on there lie/loft machine it was 11*. What kind of backspin #'s do you have ? Alot of the backpin problem occurs from an inproper shaft.
