  1. That's a good point. Follow up question: If all the proposed rules changes did happen, would the average tour scores drop significantly? Would we find more sub-60 rounds happening?
  2. Given the vast changes being proposed for 2019, some of which might greatly favor higher skilled players (flag stick left in the hole), do you think there should be two sets of rules? I can see the argument both ways and I do think tour players play a different game than amateurs do, course setup, difficulty etc. What do you think?
  3. I agree with this, I heard a podcast on this very same topic where they were discussing if this would be good for golf to recreate Scottsdale at other tournaments. They were discussing if the noise is/would be an issue and the response was as long as the noise is consistent (think everyone clapping, everyone talking, etc.) the players would not be bothered. What bothers them is a single camera click or single movement when everything else is still and quiet. So having a more "football like" fan experience would not be a bad thing, but having people yell directly at the players would be, IMO.
  4. This is a great summary of all the changes, very readable and nice that they included the old vs. the proposed.
  5. They are working on this movie at the company I work for, they do post production related services. They security around the Star Wars assets are insane, big safes, security cameras, separate server farms, etc.
  6. Looks like it will be perfect!
  7. I got your points, and I agree, both sides will have adequate time to prepare and this is not SoCal vs. Erie, etc. Looking forward to the next picks.
  8. I chuckle when people mention their "day" of good weather... Let's compare 10 day forecasts:
  9. The high today will be 71 here, how about for you? Colorado has 300+ days of sun, so I'm not worried about my boy @Pretzel and @phillyk is hovering between a .3 and a .5 HC so can't think he will suffer for a lack of playing time. Maybe some of your East Coast candidates can vlog themselves building a snowman? I hope you know I'm joking here, but I'm not joking about supporting @mvmac and his posse of misfit toys. Maybe we need a Newport Cup supporter badge?
  10. And the cup will happen 2 years before the rule changes will! Again, go West Coast! East Coast has not chance really; we have the weather, the PwC executives who tweet rather than doing their ONE job, $1 more per gallon of gas, and the new Apple headquarters!
  11. I'm in support of this one as I think it will help eliminate some of the confusion and also help with pace of play as the average golfer will be more comfortable with the shot as they can now ground the club and take a practice swing near the spot.
  12. Thank you.
  13. So now you are expecting me to read the information first? LOL Didn't see that the first time. Oops.
  14. Question: What is it a 2 stroke penalty to take an unplayable from the bunker? What is the rationale?
  15. I can't find the proposed change related to grounding a club in a hazard, that one seems interesting, what section would that be in?
  16. Solid pics for sure! Go West Coast! Congrats @coachjimsc and @Golfingdad!
  17. To respond to your original question, the range typically is not a good place to get your yardages as the range balls are most likely not what you are playing on the course. Plus hitting off matts will have a impact on your distances, etc. A better method for helping your game would be to do shot zones for a certain number of your clubs. You can read about this in the book "Lowest Score Wins" published by those that run this site! It's a great book with a lot of good information for helping your game.
  18. Nicely done, I agree with others, these are getting really good. I have played with Drew @Golfingdad at a TST outing a few years ago. He can bomb the ball and is very calm when he plays, very impressive guy. I will enjoy watching this year's tournament, as I have in years past, and dream of one day being able to participate. I should video my California basement so you can have a chuckle of what I would have to work with for my man cave. I enjoyed the tour, it's obvious you have a deep appreciation for the great sport of golf.
  19. I would be more than fine playing behind him. He finishes on the hole I'm on, drives past the next tee box to the 200 and hits his approach to the green, thus clearing the way for me to tee off almost immediately rather than waiting for him to tee off, slice into the woods 150 yards out, find the ball, pitch back to the fairway and then hit another shot.
  20. This I don't understand, if this is how he is choosing to practice right now, he is not hurting anyone. I've done this a few times, drive out to the 150 marker and play in from there, then the 100 marker and then from 50 yards, 3 balls per hole, each ball is marked with a number so I can keep track.
  21. 1. I don't think Jordan will rebound, he will be a story obviously, but I don't see him winning. I do think he will finish in the top 10. 2. I think Dustin has a very good shot at winning based on his recent hot streak, he seems to be in contention every year too. 3. Tiger will not play and he will fade away.... 4. Someone new will be in contention, that's what makes it so great. Follow up question: 5. With the azaleas blooming early, will that detract from your experience watching it?
  22. Very nice, that was an impressive 3 holes of golf you played, you know your game. Looks like a nice course with no one on it, must have been very early or late in the day, LOL.
  23. Anyone hear of this outfit? http://octobergolfgear.com/ Interesting concept, and I can see the advantage of being able to reconfigure for cart vs. walk vs. pushcart, etc. I wonder how they look in person.
  24. Ok, I'll step up to the plate. 19 years ago, for our 1 year anniversary I bought my wife a small diamond pendant on a very delicate gold chain. She loved that necklace and wore it almost everyday since then. Over the years it had issues, the clasp failed and I had it repaired, she almost lost it a few times. Well, last month she did lose it for good, hard to say where but she was pretty upset about it. I worked with a local jeweler to have it recreated, I picked out the stone, the setting and the chain to get it as close to the original as possible. I had it put inside a wrapped box of her favorite chocolates (See's Candies) for her to find when she opens them up.
  25. So, you don't think this one will win an Oscar for screenwriting? LOL
