Can college golfers use caddies?

If football, basketball, and baseball can have student trainers and managers, why can't golfers have student caddies?

I don't know. They all seem to have an assistant coach walking with them and giving the advice that a caddie would normally give (and then some).

A student caddie probably wouldn't be much more than a pack mule and I would guess the coaches wouldn't necessarily want input from a caddie anyway.

I'm surprised they allow push or pull carts and also surprised that Stanford seemed to be the only ones taking advantage of that.

We just had a NCGA junior tournament at our course and I'm very divided on carrying versus push carts, there are some pretty serious climbs and it seemed the kids with the carts were working twice as hard on the hills.
