I am looking at purchasing the Colorado Avid Golfers Passport. Has anybody had experience with it? Is there another "deal" out there? Thanks in advance.

Another great source for discount tee-times is golfnow.com. I use them here in the northwest. My parents live in Colorado and it appears there course selection in Colorado for Golf Now isn't quite as mature, but hopefully it will get there.

As far as good courses I have a gift card to Bear Dance and I am really looking forward to playing it this summer. Fossil Trace in Golden is a great and unique course.

golfnow for Co. SPrings is missing about 9 Golf Courses I an think of right here in town. It seems to only list the most exclusive/expensive.

Where in Colo Springs would you recommend?

Also I think the best golf deal anywhere is throug a place called club tee time... you buy certificates at sams, and tell them where and when, and they call ahead with their credit card number... once you get there it's paid for... oh and you get the certificates for 25% off at sams. I have used them for 2 years now and it's never failed!

Thanks for the Springs suggestions though.

Calvie - you might be asking the wrong guy. All those worth noting are above my skill level -> cost justification ratio. Air Force academy and Peterson Air Force Base are really nice, I am not sure if the Golf is public access. Never been to these, but I understand the Broadmore, Glen Eagle, and Kissing Camels are Excellent. I golf on a budget since I am 1st year starter, but so far I like Springs Ranch the most. Valley Hi and Cherokee Ridge are decent. I hear goods things about patty Jewwett too. Antler Creek is like #4 in the world for course yardage, and there are 2 courses there, with like 7 tees on most holes. The best thing about Springs Golf is at least one time you are lined up looking down a fairway, and the range is right in front with Pikes peak staring you down. Of course - I am new to CO and you might be less impressed.

My main point about golfnow is that it excludes all the public courses, but if you're traveling you may be looking for a more exclusive club to make the trip worthwhile.

I am excited to see this thread. I will be moving from the North East to Denver sometime this summer (following my significant other). I am only a 1/week golfer (about 30-35 rounds/year) and I try to play a variety of courses.

I will keep watching this thread for advice but hope to see some general advice about Colorado. And I will be waiting to hear about the advantages to the Colorado Avid Golfers Passport program!

There is a lot of great public access golf in the Denver area. Here is a link to a list of my favorites and photos.

    • Hitting some good shots on my golf trip. It's good I can tell when I hit better shots the way I want to swing the ball versus when I use an older swing. Shockingly, the short game has been at worst, not harmful to my game. I am using similar feels to the full swing, in that I try to get my hands down. I've been nipping the ball clean off the turf.
    • I was laid off two months ago. Good severance, a 90 day layoff announcement regulation the company wanted to avoid so technically I'm still on the payroll for a few weeks, and a bunch of banked PTO, so I'm in a great spot and working on a startup idea I've been batting around with my brother for a while. That means I've got time to get to the gym! I'm at like 60-75 minutes 5x a week of strength training, and either a run or a bunch of time playing soccer or tennis with my daughter on the weekends. Stronger than I've been in forever. Up ~5 pounds of (noticeable!) muscle!
    • Do you have examples of exceptional scores versus their established handicap indexes?
    • Day 539, April 23, 2024 Mirror work once again. When I get back to swings, I'll just do it A. LOT.
    • A bit of background. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) runs an annual event known as "Team Play." It is a wildly popular match play competition where Men's Clubs across the region put together teams of 20+ golfers together to compete against other clubs in a 16 vs. 16 match. In any given year, approximately 80-100 clubs will participate. Each club is grouped into "pods" of 4, and will play 6 total matches - one home and one away match against the other 3 clubs. The winning club from each pod advances to the Team Play Playoffs - a single elimination format - until a winner is crowned.  Antelope Valley Country Club just advanced to the championship match for the 3rd consecutive year. They won the championship in both 2022 and 2023.  Based on my review of the match history from the past 3 years (linked below), they have won 21 consecutive team matches. Keep in mind, these are handicapped matches, so this is not just a case where a group of sticks bands together to dominate the poor amateurs other SoCal clubs. Even if these guys are grinders who never quit, play their best under pressure and routinely putt the lights out, the law of averages still say that a streak of that nature is mathematically impossible.  Is there any plausible explanation beyond institutionalized sandbagging throughout the club?
