sometimes i am like that- i go back and forth and can't find the middle. One of the best ways i can fix it is try to do a warm up slice, then hook swing- then find the middle of the two and give it a shot. you know golf there are a million different factors to compensate for...

The two are closely related, both come from an out to in swing path.

Out to in and clubhead open = Banana Slice
Starts left and bends right

Out to in and clubhead closed = Pull Hook
Starts left and keeps bending further left

You can probably even add a third option to the mix, a pull, out to in with clubhead square, starts left and keeps going that way in an almost straight line.

I rarely hook but I have a boomerang slice. So much that I always go over the fence surrounding the driving range and land on the fairway right in the middle of some people's game.

I have resorted to teeing off with my 5 iron and leave the driver at home.

Slice could be a lot of things but best to start with grip. Make sure it's in your fingers, not your palms.

I don't consider a pull-hook to be the same as a duck hook. A duck hook is usually the clubface closed relative to the swing path with the swing path inside-to-out.

Pull hooks go 200+ yards. Duck hooks are airborn for about 50-100 yards. They're pretty distinctly different to me - but I don't know how the original poster is defining them. If he's seeing both slices and hooks, frankly, he could have virtually any swing path. The clubface is just way open or way closed.
